After sending my review to Extreme Air Park in Langley, this is the email I received back...
I gave one star because the place is super cool inside.
Unfortunately, that's about as good as it gets.
We went on a school field trip today. I am an EA working with a special needs student. Upon arrival, our teacher was advised that it was going to be $4 per student more than what was quoted... TWICE!! (two phone calls and email opportunities to say "plus tax and socks") The teacher paid the difference (what if she wasn't able to?!?). Not once did the employee apologize for the misunderstanding... Just repeated "plus socks and tax".
I then approached and explained that I was with my student and asked if I could supervise him on the trampolines, to which she replied "yes, absolutely!!" (excellent, I think to myself) "you'll just need to pay the $18" she continued. Hmmm
upon realizing that there was ZERO supervision, (they had advised there would be "adequate supervision" - - - - there was not one staff member supervising our students) I was left with no choice but to pay the $18 to go in.
Paid my $18 and went to save my student from the foam pit. He's lost his socks and can't get out. I jumped in (which I instantly regretted). I managed to find his socks and get him out of the pit. Now, it was my turn to get out.... So, probably a good 10-15 minutes later, I was able to finally get myself out. Not even gonna get into that. But, again, had they had some STAFF working, I could have been helped out much faster.
Kids, paid to jump for two hours, were told to bring water, but they're kids.... Got very hot and dehydrated. Went to the front desk "excuse me, is there a water fountain?"
"sorry, no"
WHAT?????? just a vending machine with bottles for $2.50 each.
So many things could have gone wrong.... I'm shocked that they would allow a field trip of 21 students and gave only one member of staff to run the front desk AND supervise.
So I can honestly say that the 18 classes from our school will not go there for field trips again... And I would NEVER recommend anyone else to go.
So many issues.... Zero customer service. Such a waste of a really cool facility.
This is the response I got from Extreme Air Park in Langley after I emailed them my review (concerns). Note that they never Address the staff/supervision/safety issues....
Hello
Given you were not the booking person it is very unfair and, with all due respect, naive, to be making presumptions.
The teacher who booked the event read our website including the rate description and the bold red letters at the top of the page stating Sox are always extra. On the booking form when she made the booking it clearly states Sox are extra, and she received a email copy of the booking where it again expresses Sox are extra. Finally, we have a check list we go through with all customers at time of deposit to ensure there are no misunderstandings where tax and Sox are explained in this check list.
I'm sorry you choose to assume or listen to a teacher, that apparently by your your statement, cannot read or listen to instruction; but with certainty this individual was fully aware of the the costs as much as she was aware and recommended to bring in water, to which this information and instruction was also unretained by some.
We go out of our way to ensure full disclosure and information is given and making us the bad guy because of peoples choices or self governess is pretty sad commentary.
We charge everyone to be on the park floor (in your case at a discount), we do not have a water fountain for sanitation reasons, and Sox and Tax are extra
Extreme Air Park goes out of it's way to ensure we are accessible to Schools and Community organizations, to provide countless donations and support for raffles and fundraisers, etc., and find it somewhat offensive to receive such commentary from an unappreciative, and uninformed, Teachers Aid. As such you will remove your post and one star immediately, and advise once you have done this, or I will have no choice but to bring this issue up with (your principal at your school)
Sincerely,
Thomas McCullough
