First I'd like to point out that for someone living in East Baltimore the location is fantastic. I'm in Fells Point and this was the closest and most convenient facility available with large outdoor storage. I had many small disasters the past year keeping my boat in the water so I decided to keep it on the trailer and launch as needed this year. The facility is maybe a mile and a half from the Canton War Memorial boat ramp, about as convenient as possible in the city. I could hook up my trailer and have the boat in the water in 15 minutes if all went well. The facility itself is clean, well kept, safe and secure. Shane and his wife, who run this storage facility, went above and beyond the expected level of customer service. I was having some repairs done in the spring that were taking weeks longer than expected. They held my spot on my word alone that I'd be leasing a space and were completely accommodating when I ran into problems and delays getting the boat and trailer there as planned. My trailer slightly exceeded the facility limits on length for outdoor spaces but they made it work anyway, without any hassle at all. Also, since I'd be bringing the boat back and forth on a regular basis they moved things around and found me a spot where I could easily pull the trailer in and out without being blocked by other vehicles. Anyone who's towed a trailer knows how much of a hassle backing in and out of tight spaces can be and they were eager to make my use of the facility as painless as possible. I have since moved my boat to an indoor boatel that is MASSIVELY more expensive and any bending of the rules or requests for special consideration are treated as a person affront to their business. Nothing like the family style operation at Self Storage Plus. It's refreshing that there are still some places that consider making the customer happy priority number 1. If you're looking for a storage facility in the city as far as I'm concerned there is no other choice.

Friendly and professional, Jim was here in no time to do my estimate. On Saturday I got an early morning text with a status on where the movers were. 20 minutes later they were here. Friendly and again professional, four young men, Eric, Damion, Corey and Zack. It was in inside move from one apt. to another and they packed me up, moved me and unpacked me. They asked where to unpack things and did so with care for my belongings and put everything right where I needed. Literally unpacked me right into where I needed things to go!!!!!! I have a display case of cat figures and ceramic clowns and collectibles on care bears and rainbow brite LOL (a kid at heart); and they gently unpacked those items and neatly displayed them on the showcase shelf. The movers were kind and respectful, but numerous things where broken from not being secured…read morecorrectly in the truck, including a very expensive family heirloom. Additionally I had a few shelves that didnt fit on the 1st truck. The lead mover told me it was ok he could just add them on the second truck without charging since they had to bring the truck anyways. Because he told me I wouldn't get charged, I canceled the u haul I had and let them take the items. The owner told me to bad about the broken stuff, I should have gotten the insurance and also charged me for the second truck. If you dont want a bait and switch on price and you value your stuff, I would recommend 2 guys and a truck. At least they are a major company that can afford to stand by their work.

William was the ring leader of emotionally abusing my aunt and participated in allowing his staff to make a complete mockery of her. This matter stems from when we shared IRREFUTABLE documentation regarding our service animal catastrophic injury that resulted in amputation surgery which cost us well over $15k. We also shared information about the loss of my aunt'snhusband and baby sister. Despite our extenuating circumstances, both District manager Danny and store manager William has had a long history of speaking to us in a condescending tone then retaliated when we asked to escalate our concerns. We have IRREFUTABLE documentation that proves management, his subordinates REPEATEDLY called my aunt a bitch & made cruel racial connotations on 10/20/2026. Prior to this, we also attempted to reach the manager for a little over a month regarding her late payment & NEVER received a return call. Nor were we given an opportunity to make a partial payment which resulted in more late fees being added to my account while waiting for a manager to call back. Throughout this ordeal, the manager & GM Danny spoke to us in an abusive collections tone. Considering our state of grieving, we had a family representative speak to GM on our behalf. Danny eventually agreed to waive late charges and asked my aunt to pay $528 before 2:00 PM on 10/20/2026. During her visit, I was on the phone and firhanf witnessed William speaking to my aunt in a nasty tone. They informed her that her lock had been cut off which was a complete shock & DEEPLY unsettling because it was already a hardship for our family to pay the bill under my extenuating circumstances. My aunt asked to speak with Danny & was told the property manager who we later learned was William Gildeleon would speak with her. We have IRREFUTABLE documentation that proves William spoke to my aunt in a condescending escalated tone. My aunt politely asked him to please lower his voice & even pointed out other customers were in close proximity. All she wanted was her privacy protected but William continued to speak in a harsh elevated tone. My aunt asked the manager his name he responded my name is on the business card. After my aunt paid the $528, it turns out, the parties used deceitful practices to get her to makie a large payment with the sole intent of not allowing her to continue her lease. Staff even referred to my aunt's business vehicle as a "mot likely a rental" UNPROVOKED then repeatedly made a mockery of her with the manager laughing when all she INITIALLY wanted was her locked replaced because she absolutely was not notified that they cut her lock off. Staff outright LIED & defamed her character when they called Danny to inform him he could send the non lease renewal which he asked them to do as soon as the payment was made. Again, we have IRREFUTABLE proof of the ENTIRE conversation history.My close family member is an award winning executive news producer at a local news station and we absolutely will explore options to ensure accountability. We drove from California in the midst of our family crisis and we are deeply disappointed with how bad my aunt was treated! Especially the fact that the manager participated in REPEATEDLY calling her a bitch as well as the GM, Danny demanding such an astronomical payment knowing full well he planned in advance to terminate her lease all while the entire team participated in character assassination?! We will NOT back down on seeking accountability until we are satisfied with the resolution. We will do everything in our power to make ALL of these calls go viral because was it really worth laughing and making a mockery out of a vulnerable customer who is grieving the loss of her husband, her baby sister and her service animal...not to mention, her youngest child in a nursing home!! I'm so sorry I can't continue the lease, but since I have to give up my staging business I just didn't have a choice. They went above and beyond and helped me with all my questions and concerns. A good example was when they found I hadn't locked my unit properly that same day - I could have lost all my inventory!! It just shows they care about their work and about their customers. I have…read morebeen at this location for over 5 years and they have moved me from building to building due to rodent infestation as well as multiple different insects including roaches spiders and water bugs all over my unit. They accuse me of having food in my unit and I have proven multiple times I only have furniture and my seasonal decor and clothing that I leave in there. I have an open insurance claim which has taken almost a year to get to the bottom of I still do not know what's going on with that because it's extremely hard to get to the bottom of anything with this company. My property manager is extremely hard to get a hold of I have had two different property managers at this location which is Kent avenue in catonsville and neither property manager is accessible. You can call over 100 times which I have a recording of and no one will answer the phone you can leave over 20 voicemails and no one will return your voicemails. It is extremely hard to have a storage unit at a location where there's no one responsible for anything and I cannot get a hold of the 1-800 number let alone my property manager like never. I do not recommend using any of the public storage locations because I have had absolutely horrible experience with the 1-800 number as well as my property manager and I'm sure this isn't just at this location.
