Sign up was quick and it was so convenient receiving a gate code immediately via the app to enter and start loading. They also include a lock in the unit if you need it, which you can return to the office for a refund if you have one already. There was a bit of confusion with a storage unit that was set up by a third party on behalf of my company, and I wasn't sure how to get it sorted as my calls to the third party service were not being returned. I stopped by this Extra Space Storage location on Miramar Rd and was helped by a woman employee (I didn't catch her name, unfortunately) who was friendly and tried her best to assist with the situation. The next day, I called and spoke with Mike, the manager, who was very helpful in clearing up the misunderstanding. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure the account was properly set-up, and aligned with our company's needs. I appreciated his professionalism and willingness to help. Overall, the staff was courteous and the facility seems clean and well-managed. Watch your stuff here folks. The ~one foot gap between the wall and the ceiling, along with their policy of not securing vacant units and not securing their buildings at night allowed someone to climb through the gap and steal a bunch of my stuff. I booked a storage unit online. It was an easy website to follow and I got everything done online. I got a 5 x 5 to store some home supplies while I was in a process of moving. They have a dolly and storage elevator to help with moving items. I decided to close my storage unit because I found a place to live. I wanted to know the process of closing and to see if I owed any additional fees. Mike Strizak was the front desk representative at the time. He also let me in a few minutes early before opening time. Mike personality was radiating, he's funny and answer all my questions. So I really like using the lift for moving my items upstairs. It makes it convenient and helps me not to over work my back. Today was my bad day in my life, I was so angry because I try to work it out to keep my stuff with the Manager- Mike for my late payment of 2 months & 2 weeks rent but he was so rude and said no want to talk to me , no discuss unless I pay them the total amount of $358.60 in cash by 1:00 today ,( and I didn't understand why it went up this much when I only own them from April 05-2019 to Jun 19 -2019 , so my rent is $67/month plus insurance it's $14.20 per month. I agree to pay to keep my personal stuff, it's really mean to me because it's family memorie and all my paperworks ,personal stuff in there sine I lost my job , I lost the place to live. And there is no way I could get cash for him until tomorrow. I have loaned the money but deposit in the Bank yesterday and the cash will available tomorrow not today ( I came to the bank this morning before I came to the Extra Space Storage Office And I requested him to listen to my situation and give me one day to get cash or I can write a check and he can cash tomorrow . But he strongly said no & don't take any kind of payment except cash , and he did not want to listen to me. I was like please please or give me until 5-6 p.m today I could have enough time to go to sell my car and can give him cash but his answer was NO! NO! Have to be in cash before 1:00 p.m. Finally I called my cousin at last minute asking for emergency help with cash, and i came to asked Mike to give me a nother half an hour for my cousin to bring the cash for him but he still no , have to be by 1:00 ( my cousin lives far away from this this storage. And I couldn't make it, while I waiting for my cousin ,I saw many people came to the store but I didn't know what was going until I feel that something going on and I came in the Unit , I was so mad & so angry because he show people my stuff ( I guess ), I was like " Please don't touch my stuff!!! ) but Mike he was angry told me to "get out!". Finally when people walk down downstairs from my unit, I was afraid that Mike going hurts me, I walked out . My cousin came in . But Mike still not give me a chance. Later Mike came out from the office with the business card with the phone number on it -j Michaels Avctions and tell me to call ,and I asked him is my stuff still in my unit ? & why I need to call this? ( because I still hope in God that I can get back my stuff) ,but he said " No! All gone ". To all readers: English as my second language, I don't understand English well ,this is my fault , that why I didn't understand the word " Auction " in the E_mail that Tom ( other Staff) send to me a week ago. I thought that I scheduled to moved out on the 19 of Jun and everything ok. And I know that he - Mike was do his job and & by the policy . But please ! Before you do anything making sure that client understands all what going on because not everyone understanding English. I lost all my personal stuff now, specially family pictures I'm like I lost everything. Please help your friend, your family members when they in crisis time . Month to month rental payments; however, Mike (the manager) was extremely helpful, generous, and understanding about my need to move stuff out before the end of the month. I rented a storage there recently and their customer service is horrible (especially Sandra). They have only one cart available to accommodate more than 200 storage space. Their elevator always brakes. I will move to another storage unit as soon as the contract is over. . Furthermore, this storage place always fluctuate the price of the storage compare to other storage that I had rented in the past. I believe once you sign up to particular price, it should stay the same. The new rate should be applied to the new people that just or about to sign up to the storage.PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THIS STORAGE FACILITY!!!! read more

Really great location! It was clean and we never had issues getting in or out or anything else. There was one time the elevator didn't work, but we went there SO many times that the fact that we only saw it not working once is pretty good. What makes this location stand out is the manager (I'm assuming he was the manager!). You can tell he loves his job, and it makes doing business there pleasant. He is very upfront about any fees that may be charged and how to avoid them. He made sure we knew everything in our agreement, instead of just relying on us to read it. It sounds simple, but that can really save people money! He was super nice and friendly and helpful whenever we saw him. If we still lived in the area I wouldn't hesitate to do business there again. Extra space storage was extremely helpful setting up a nice large 10x25 unit. Rented the space for about 3 months and had zero issues when I wanted to move my stuff out. Some places try to charge you for leaving mid-month but they were awesome about only charging me for the exact time I used. It was nice and clean and always felt like my stuff was safe. read more

8192 Miramar San Diego location: Buyer beware. While this is a clean facility and signing up was effortless, the company decided to increase my rent 23.5% after the initial 5 months for a 10'X25' unit. When initially signing up I had asked the then local manager of the Miramar San Diego location what I could expect with increases down the road and he said 5-10% was typical. Well, this was basic 'bait and switch' in that they claimed the rate was an internet special. Faced with such an increase I moved all my property to another location in the area for less money per sq ft. Also the manager I signed on with moved on to wherever. read more
