I was told my unit was climate controlled, only to find it wasn't and on my contract it was stated it was a climate controlled unit. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE. It is a lucrative business only here to exploit people using vague language and bad management practices. Update: Rick the store manager reached out to me and we discussed the matter about the mold damage. So to be clear, he and Mary are the only ones that are actually on the ground in New Orleans, anyone spoken to besides them is based in Atlanta. Here are some tips that I would suggest storing their items here: 1. Make sure you get what you're paying for and ask questions. The people in Atlanta are not here for your help but to make money. Make sure your lease starts when you need it and when it ends. 2. Get the renters insurance. Anything can happen. Just pay the $8 for the benefit of having it. 3. Talk to Mary and Rick if you have questions. Both of them are exceptional with customer service and answering questions or concerns with their policy, contracts, needs etc. 4. If you DONT get climate controlled, make sure you plastic wrap all cloth or store it properly. If you do get climate controlled make sure you get it and check it out before starting your lease. Once again, Rick and Mary are some of the kindest employees and will help you out if need be. Just make sure to read your contracts and store your stuff appropriately.

With Dependable Storage, we really got so much more than our low trifecta of expectations. 1 - Super easy to get to from Uptown. 2 - Incredibly clean. This part of Dependable Storage probably had only been open a few months when we moved in, but it really is incredibly clean. No musty smells, no smells at all really! 3 - Access to 3+ carts at all times! I've never had an issue getting a cart. 4 - Hospital-size elevators (yes we might've used 3 carts on move-in day and they all fit!) 5 - Use of a moving truck the day of move-in. Seriously a life and budget saver since it was in the middle of the summer. 6 - Not 1, not 2, not 3...okay okay 12 AIR CONDITIONING UNITS attached to our building. I am no sweaty betty leaving this place. Love me some AC. 7 - The friendliest staff. Branden is always around, and offers bottled water. 8 - Easy parking access to our space, and close to the elevators. We've never felt weird or unsafe coming to the unit. 9 - No problems whatsoever with other tenants or any creepy crawlers of any kind. Had I realized all of this location's shortcomings prior to opening my account, I would have searched elsewhere! Climate controlled? Really? Your unit is anything but protected from the elements. Even when the A/C *is* running, the humidity is quite high indoors, and the vents (in the doorway) and multiple openings (along the interior walls) let the outside environment in whenever someone has their first-floor garage door open. Cover all your stuff because there WILL BE RAT DROPPINGS ALL OVER IT the next time you visit. Document everything, if you wish to file a complaint, and file it with corporate, not just the facility employees (see below). Aside from the visibly indifferent on-site staff (who are either overworked, underpaid, or just plain don't give a sh*t), the level of upkeep inside and outside their buildings leaves much to be desired. Did I mention that an old man essentially lives in an upstairs unit of Building B? Calls himself Gary Cooper. Will follow you around as you try to move items in/out of your own unit. Shaves and brushes his teeth at the end of the hallway. Stores his crap (perhaps literally) in the hallway with all of his worldly possessions so you cannot get around him. Futzes with the elevator so that it is NEVER operational when you try to use it. Leaves the security door OPEN every time I come up the stairs. Never wears a face covering, but sure wants to know your name and shake your hand. The only things that work reliably at the South Carrollton Avenue location are (a) the front gate, and (b) the AutoPay billing option. No refunds allowed, even if you were prevented (see previous paragraph) from vacating the month before. Wait your turn at the locked office door with any questions, and don't expect anyone to return your messages left via the mobile app. Did I mention you can enter/exit the premises freely just by rolling under the chain link fence that blows in the wind? Why have access codes and apps when anyone can come and go as they please? (He asked, sarcastically.) I kinda feel sorry for anyone with no alternative but to rent storage space here, and if they do, I hope it's pest-proof and nothing that truly needs "climate control". Jeanette - the on site manager - reached out to me multiple times leading up to our moving items into our space to make sure we were able to access the space under the new safety guidelines during the covid pandemic - but it was really what she did for us this past weekend that I'm writing about. Jeanette went above and beyond anything I could have expected when we were unloading a truck and putting items in a new space - and the power went out during a storm. After making sure we were all safe - no one stuck in an elevator - she helped us out by lending us a ground floor space for 48 hours until we could return and move everything up to the space we'd originally rented on the 3rd floor. I would happily recommend this location for self storage.

No way to contact anything or anyone but an answering machine to have the matter handled. During this time the gate to the facility was wide open, none of the doors were locked, the lights and air conditioning were off (obviously) and likely the security cameras were too by the third day without power. They don't prorate months so now I'm stuck paying for another month at an insane rate. If you are a day late with payment they will harass you, but if you want to move out before the end of the month and the power's off you're sol.
