I was told my unit was climate controlled, only to find it wasn't and on my contract it was stated it was a climate controlled unit. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE. It is a lucrative business only here to exploit people using vague language and bad management practices. Update: Rick the store manager reached out to me and we discussed the matter about the mold damage. So to be clear, he and Mary are the only ones that are actually on the ground in New Orleans, anyone spoken to besides them is based in Atlanta. Here are some tips that I would suggest storing their items here: 1. Make sure you get what you're paying for and ask questions. The people in Atlanta are not here for your help but to make money. Make sure your lease starts when you need it and when it ends. 2. Get the renters insurance. Anything can happen. Just pay the $8 for the benefit of having it. 3. Talk to Mary and Rick if you have questions. Both of them are exceptional with customer service and answering questions or concerns with their policy, contracts, needs etc. 4. If you DONT get climate controlled, make sure you plastic wrap all cloth or store it properly. If you do get climate controlled make sure you get it and check it out before starting your lease. Once again, Rick and Mary are some of the kindest employees and will help you out if need be. Just make sure to read your contracts and store your stuff appropriately.

Update! Once again, these people have locked me out of my unit when I am paid up until the 12th…read more Today is the 3rd. This is ridiculous, and no one will call me back. I have attached photos to show that this is really happening. This place is a train wreck that I cannot wait to get out of...but alas...I cannot because they unlawfully licked me out of my unit. The "manager" Leola, of this particular storage center is awful. In all the years I have been a customer here, she is, by far, the worst ever. She is rude, unhelpful, and hangs up on calls when a customer is talking. Her stonewalling tactics are very unprofessional. I will definitely be contacting the consumer protection agency concerning my latest visit there and her refusal to provide pertinent information. UPDATE: After posting my past update saying they were losing my business and I had plans to move out this month, they charged my credit card for two months. When you call them you get no one. Only a loud screaching noise. This place is really sketchy. I wish I could take away the one star I had to give them. UPDATE: Not sure what has happened at this facility, but after waiting all afternoon for someone to be in the office and calling only to get a loud screeching noise where you should have been able to leave a message, I was met after 4pm, by a very rude and unhelpful "manager." I have been renting units from this company for a few years and have never been met with such an ugly attitude and refusal to help. She was forcing me to purchase insurance when my homeowners insurance is already in their records. I have two other units with the company. She obviously didn't feel like dealing with me because it was almost time for her to get off for the day. It is sad that this woman's unprofessional behavior has resulted in the loss of my business. I hope the owner corrects this situation and hires people who appreciate the customers because without them, there is no business. And definitely not mine because I will be moving my other unit out at the end of the month I paid for.

They…read moreknow all their customers on a first name basis and always goes above and beyond every time you go in there. This place is hardcore about their wine. They have weekly wine tastings and the largest indoor wine storage facility in Louisiana. And they have a sommelier on site! Last time I was there, I got a chance to sample some hundred dollar wine. Yep, they just cracked that puppy open and split it with everyone in there. How awesome is that? Plus they're very community-oriented. They have a featured business and an interesting events every month. They just recently advertised for an indoor garage sale where they had over 50 sellers and door prizes! Don't know of any other garage sales where they give out door prizes- and ask for donations for a local blood bank and school. And they're doing stuff like this all the time. Every time I go to a fundraiser in Jefferson Parish, Elmwood Self Storage is involved in some shape or fashion. I've even used their board room for a meeting I conducted. They let me use that space- free of charge- and even helped me advertised for it. These people seriously get around! So check out their facilities and you won't be disappointed. I haven't been!
