This location is in the heart of the city and very easy to get to. Great location. The thing about this storage company is the rental fees keep going up - so what starts out at a reasonable increases drastically over time making it unaffordable over time. For temporary storage it works but rental increases make it hard to keep an affordable unit fee. My rating is based on hidden fees, increased rental fees and temperature of facility. The facility is often very warm on the floors which it should be climate controlled. They do offer elevators and hand carts for easy access for moving items when needed. Location is always secure which is a huge plus - safety is in point. They also have indoor and outside storage unit available with a large variety of sizes. The spaces are suited for both personal and business storage, and range in size from locker-size spaces and small closets to entire households and units big enough to fit oversized vehicles or trailers. They also offer drive-up and climate-controlled options. read more

Public Storage - Nice, clean, & roomy! - Self Storage Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

The employees at this location are great, but this company is very shady and scammy. They WILL raise your rent regularly for no reason. The gate is often malfunctioning and when this happens there is no way to access your unit if the office is closed. The least they could do would be to pay their employees to staff the office for extended hours so that during the frequent gate malfunctions there would be someone on site to assist. read more

Good facility but very difficult to cancel insurance (CAN'T reject insurance when renting a unit, their invoices aren't detailed so you can't tell what, exactly, the charges are for, and when you cancel insurance they insist on a 30-day cycle so if you cancel on the 2nd, it continues to charge you thru the next month because it's after the first). Facilities are good but the lack of transparency and lack of clear options (don't search the "Help" it'll pretend there's no help for/on insurance charges). Also, when you cancel the unit, there's another 30-day cycle. But clean units & I assume there's surveillance (my last storage unit got broken into and they said, oh, sorry, cameras haven't worked in months..). I'm venting, clearly. read more

Expect rent increases of $30 every 6 months. This is not disclosed at signing. We rented a 10' X 15' climate controlled unit for $170 a month, 1 year later its $230. This is unacceptable. Each price increase occurred exactly 6 months apart. I believe this trend will continue. We are selling all of our stuff at reduced prices because we cannot afford their unreasonable price jack ups. Shame on the management for adopting this practice to take advantage of their customers. read more

Public Storage is a very clean, climate control storage environment, with a state of the art security system. The agents are very helpful in assisting clients and monitoring the facility. The large elevators made unloading a whole lot easier. If you care about your belonging, public storage is highly recommended by me and others in comparison to other storage companies. read more

I've used the PS location on Washington Ave multiple times over the last 7 years and been very happy with their customer service and security. Jeanette - the on site manager - reached out to me multiple times leading up to our moving items into our space to make sure we were able to access the space under the new safety guidelines during the covid pandemic - but it was really what she did for us this past weekend that I'm writing about. Jeanette went above and beyond anything I could have expected when we were unloading a truck and putting items in a new space - and the power went out during a storm. After making sure we were all safe - no one stuck in an elevator - she helped us out by lending us a ground floor space for 48 hours until we could return and move everything up to the space we'd originally rented on the 3rd floor. I would happily recommend this location for self storage. read more

Beware of increasing rates! 6-months in they increased my rate by 30%. When I was booking my unit, the person working stated my unit rate would stay the same. I called and talked to the district manager and they would not budge on the rate increase. It will go up AGAIN on my rate increase anniversary. This place is over priced, annoying to get in/out of, most of the employees here don't care to help, to get a cart is a pain because it's locked up IN the office which means after hours no helpful cart. Everything at this place comes with a cost...I mean every little thing.... No one here is understanding or willing to help Lost your keys? too bad you can pay for a new lock and in a week or so the DM will cut it for you, need help with billing, " you can do all that online you know", no master key to unlock ANY of the locks, employees aren't in the best mood, the units are seriously WAY over priced, the parking lot sucks and is typically always full which makes loading/offloading a pain.... This place does not deserve the star that I gave them. The facility itself is relatively new, so I have no issue with the cleanliness of the facility, however, the business practices at this place are DIRTY! Please, do NOT place your treasures in this place. Jeannette, is pleasant, however, whomever I spoke with recently was the antithesis of that. She was combative and was more focused on talking than listening and answering my questions. I am not sure if these facilities are franchised and have the capacity to create terms that govern their specific location, however I know that over the past 6+months that my belongings have been stored, I have been subjected to atleast 1 rate increase, and I was told about several shady practices, such as lock removal, which are not advised in advance. I was told that there was an update to a policy, which I asked if they sent out any documentation regarding the change, to which I was advised that they do not have to, and the woman on the other line started to reference Louisiana laws. I asked about very specific things, to ensure that I paid my balance as to not lose my things, and this person referenced the law. I paid my balance in full, and will QUICKLY remove my things from this place. If there were ever a fire under my butt to get my things from storage, talking to the person who answered is just that!!! I guess I should thank her for pushing me with her poor listening skills, and poor customer service ... though I want everyone to know what you would potentially be subjecting yourselves to by renting here. Jeanette was super helpful to us at check-in, even though we arrived at 5:30 and the offices at 6. She was very patient when I changed my mind about the unit size. She even helped to sort out some confusion we had with another Public Storage (they were also helpful, but didn't have a climate controlled unit available). The facility was clean and well-lit. Felt very comfortable storing belongings there for the next few months. My only recommendation is that they should get a few more carts. read more

Don't do it!! Find another place!! Need to use a cart to load your stuff? Forgeddaboudit. The carts are locked up in the office, so the office person has to be at the desk if you want the cart. Good luck with that. Oh, and you have to walk out of the building, back thru the parking lot, thru the front gate and thru the front door to find out if the office person is there. The door to give you access from inside the facility, that's locked. You don't get to use that door. Bring a nice BIG flashlight if you need to visit your stuff. The isle where I had my (very overpriced) storage space had 6 ceiling fixtures. One of those fixtures had working light bulbs in it. They claimed they walked the facility regularly, but it was dark for three months. Oh, if you temporarily remove your property from the facility, do not make the mistake of removing your lock. It appears that you cannot just come back the next day any put different stuff in your space and replace the lock. Just because you've paid for the whole month, don't go assuming that you have continuing access!! If you remove your lock for a couple hours to replace it, they wipe you out of the system, remove your access code so you can't get on the grounds and NO, you don't get a refund. They are not even polite about it. But rest assured, all of this special service doesn't come cheap -- they'll be sure to raise you rent every few months. read more

I've been trying to get in touch with a manager for 4 days without as much as a returned call acknowledging that they have received my messages. Have been at Public Storage for about 14 months and for the first year the lights didn't work. Was told weekly they were scheduled to be fixed but nothing ever was and when they finally gave me the number for the district manager, Daniel, he never answered the phone or called back. The lights were finally fixed at the same time the A/C went out. It has now been broken for over two months and the Climate Controlled unit is constantly about 90 degrees. I have had to get help to move stuff out go my unit so that it is not ruined and they said there is nothing they can do about the A/C and they no longer have any supervisors to help deal with issues. They changed the air filter about 7 months ago but the old one was dated 2012. BEWARE of using this location for your climate controlled storage needs. read more

Great service at the Public Storage facility on Washington. Sherri in particular is so professional and courteous. Goes the extra mile to be sure the customer is taken care of. Recently, I needed to have a combination lock removed because we forgot the combination. When I called to make arrangements to have a locksmith come out, Sherry told me all I needed to do in terms of paperwork, but then went on to tell me that the Regional Manager would do it free of charge if I could wait a couple of days. That saved me $85! She called the RM and got it taken care of for me after I signed the proper release. The facilities are always clean and easy to access. We have had units in the Washington St building for several years. Last week, my cell flipped from a box while we were rearranging one of our units. It was lost!! When we called it, the sound was coming from behind a fixed panel!! We panicked! Sherri, the facilities manager came running to the rescue with both tall and short ladders, screw driver,flashlight and her OWN socket wrench set to assist us. She held flashlights and ladders for more than 30 minutes and listened to the ringing to help with location. She went above and beyond what we could ever expect and AT LAST, we did recover the phone!! We are MOST grateful and highly recommend anyone who needs climate storage to use this facility. I as well as my best friend and thirteen year old daughter was harassed by an employee about our progress and cart while vacating the unit. This same employee called the next day to harass me further, a few days later I spoke with a "manager" whom did nothing. I had to block the number. Then I received two emails in one day about a "late" fee for an "outstanding balance" I had no knowledge of. I will not recommend this poorly ran predatory company to anyone. read more

This Public Storage location had everything I wanted when I had to find a unit with short notice in New Orleans. I was able to find a deal online, and of all the locations in New Orleans this one had indoor climate controlled units that were less expensive than those on Carrollton or St. Charles. I booked the unit online, which led to the manager calling to follow up and answer an questions I may have had. On the day I arrived to start renting the unit, Sherri and Tressi were extremely friendly and helpful with giving me all the information I needed as well as walking me through all the processes. Any times I've gone to the unit, everything has been easily accessible, although sometime it may be difficult to find a cart while moving things in or out. read more

This was my last stop yesterday after a hunt for a decently priced storage unit - quite impossible in New Orleans! Christy was very personable and professional and helped me choose the right unit for my needs - I originally wanted a drive-up so I could just shove my things out of the car into the unit, but when she advised me that these weren't climate controlled, I realized I needed to switch to something inside. Security seems pretty good thus far. My only complaint would be that the carts were really dirty, and the door to my unit sticks if I put it all the way up. read more
