**Rat Infested!!! *** Take your stuff somewhere else! We just moved into this unit a month ago and have caught 7 rats in our unit in that timeframe. Most recent visit we caught 3 rats including one that was pregnant. Our unit is now cover in rat feces and urine and a good portion of items will likely need to be thrown away. We have mentioned the problem to staff multiple times which clearly does not care about the problem or keeping the property clean. If I could give 0 stars I would. "" RAT INFESTATION"" NO LIES!! On October 2, I rented out a unit from this business and don't get me wrong, the staff is super nice. I wanted to get clarification on how much my bill would go up after the three month promo and I was told that it would go up to whatever the market pricing is which I thought was rare Because who would rent a unit not knowing what they're going to pay and one of the staff members basically stated that if the bill went up to something I didn't want I can give my notice before I moved out. Long story short the next day was my second round of bringing things to my unit. I saw two staff members coming out of the building where my unit is with full hazmat suit on booties over their shoes, gloves and masks so I asked them was it safe for me to go in and they said that they were only cleaning the place and didn't want to get dirty. Fast-forward to October 31 had my vehicle packed with items to take to my storage unit and I went on yelp to see if they were open on Halloween. Scrolled down to read reviews and I have no idea how I missed them. The complaints were talking about a rat infestation so I immediately panicked a little. I get back to the unit soon as I get out of my car open the door to go inside the hallway there was rat feces on the ground rat feces all inside of the complex in random areas. I opened up my unit And lo and behold rat feces in my unit. I drove back to the office explain to the staffer that was there what I saw and she basically told me that I had insurance and I could take pictures if I had any doubts and I told her there was no way I was keeping my product in that storage unit at all. She told me that there was a rat infestation and she apologized and basically told me that once I moved out to make sure that I wiped down everything and to wear a mask and gloves which I was going to do anyway. I explained to her that I was immediately moving out and I would probably have my things out by Sunday before the next billing cycle so i went home to grab everything I needed. I had on a white hazmat disposable jumpsuit and my booties, gloves and a mask. I had disinfectant sanitizer spray, paper towels and I took plenty of pictures. I laid out a huge 55 gallon black trash bags on the concrete and every single thing that I pulled out of that unit was disinfected. I oversaturated items and needless to say 27 days after I checked in I was fully checked out so if you're reading this review, make your own decision, but I will tell you that that place is definitely infested with rats. I'm not going to say the whole complex, but my unit was 613 and that's the same building that I saw the staff coming out after they went in and sprayed it down and mopped. I think that it was pretty crappy that they didn't tell me when I first went there that they were having a rat infestation problem because I never would have rented. I am so thankful that I was able to only stay there for 27 days and none of my items were damaged. I did not give them time to have all of those rodents go through my things. I'm kind of upset with myself for not thoroughly reading the reviews before I went there but the day that I rented that unit I had already been to four or five different other storage unit places and I definitely read their reviews so I don't know how I missed this one. Again the staff were very nice but they really need to tell their customers of the situation that they have. I'm sorry you can't be that money hungry to where you're not telling people that you have a problem with rats. If they would've been honest and told me this when I asked the question the second day after I rented the unit, I would've never put my things in that storage unit some of the pictures that you see below our pictures of the rat species throughout the complex and the building where I had my unit and also how I oversaturated and sprayed down all of my belongings that I took out of that unit before I put those items back in my car and took them home. A family member stored their belongings with Extra Space Storage and ended up losing nearly everything due to a severe rat infestation. Irreplaceable valuables, sentimental items, furniture, appliances, and more were destroyed--chewed through, clawed, and contaminated with urine and droppings. When we brought this to management's attention, we were advised to file an insurance claim (which we had paid for). Unfortunately, the insurer disputed the value of many items and outright denied coverage for others. We even requested a unit on the opposite side of the facility, hoping for better conditions, but that space was also overrun by rats. It has been devastating to watch a loved one lose the possessions they worked so hard to acquire, with no accountability or support from the company. My mother pays $300 a month with rent continually increasing. Shes been there 13 years, and our belongings are completed destroyed due to an active rat infestation. I was literally in a mask and gloves trying to take photos as rats were still in my unit, as of yesterday. There are fresh rat droppings in the hallways and front door to unit. They have chewed all of her wooden shelves and wooden antique water bed. We need to speak to someone ASAP to get this resolved and help to pull out all the things that need to be thrown away as the rat feces are everywhere. This is a severe health issue. We have spoken to Management and he has been great. But we would like to petition her rent to be decreased and or paid back partially. We need to throw out so much more and need someone who can exterminate and safely pull out these items that are full of fresh rat feces. I moved out of my storage on February 2, 2025 and it was paid in full. I spoke to a young man on the phone and told him my move out date. Five of my friends with 3 trucks moved everything out of my unit. In February I got a call stating that I need to pay for my storage unit. I explained to Brian that I had already moved out of the unit. I did everything he asked me to do, which was leave the door up and take the lock with me. The bills kept coming saying that I need to pay for my unit. Brian sent me a email asking for permission to cut off the lock. I explained to him that I have my lock and I left the door open, I even sent him pictures of my lock with their sticker on it. I told him I would not give permission to cut someone's lock of the unit I had rented. It wasn't my lock. He told me he was going to send the bill to collections. Please don't do business with these people, they have a class action law suit against them for tricking people to rent their storage units at one price and then going up on the storage unit, it's called switch and bait. read more

Amazing we had the unit for an entire year. It was enclosed and ventilated everytime we went to check our unit it was clean and organized. We just finally purchased our first home and it's nice to know our things were protected. Kimberly was exceptional assisting us with closing out the unit and went over all the things needed to make sure it's a clean exit. Thank you extra space. I actually enjoyed doing business with this company initially, but after about 3 months they did the classic bait and switch: they announced, like any Loan Shark would, an astronomical increase in my rent by about 40%, with just a 10-day warning, which I think is illegal. I made a reservation based on the price listed on the site at the time ($88), but when I tried to complete the rental (prior to the date on the reservation), the price listed was $117. I called the facility and the manager told me that she could refund the money after I paid the $117, framing it as a one-time favor to me, regardless of the fact that I have an email confirmation of the $88 price in the reservation confirmation email. When I responded that all I was asking for was the price I was quoted in my reservation, which was supposed to be "locked in" by the reservation, she told me that it was clear from our conversation that it wasn't a good fit. She also made clear in our conversation that this has happened before. I'm not a fan of the bait and switch, so I will steer clear of this facility, and I would recommend that other like-minded folks do the same. read more

This establishment has been raising their fees too frequently, last $15 increase was in August of 2016 and not even a year later, another $15 increase with no notice given?! $30 increase in a year? This location has my current (telephone, address, email) information and I was NOT notified of another increase but if I don't pay, I'm late right? This is absolutely ridiculous. I will be looking elsewhere because we are not made of money to have our rates increased this often and with no notice. Customer service wasn't bad. The guy was nice and the lady actually seems like she cares. We started off pretty good, but the longer you rent the storage with them, they up the price on you. We didn't know that the longer we rent the more we pay, but it seems like they pick and choose who they raise the rent on Because we talk to a few people and they been there for a few years and didn't get charge more until recent. Beside them raising the charges, I constantly always find random things in front of my unit. I found a pile of clothes with bags before and a pile of boxes with random things coming out. It's like people were throwing their throw away items in front of my unit. Sorry but I'm giving this a low ranking. Like Lindsay S., I also lost everthing in this fire from Summer of 2013. I'm still devastated. I lost over $40k worth of prized collectibles, only a fraction of which insurance could cover due to my policy limits. I don't fault ESS for the fire happening - things will happen (though I find it ridiculous that code enforcement does not MANDATE that these facilities have sprinklers throughout their hallways - come on!) but I'm beside myself at the way this event was handled by the facility. I, too received a casual voicemail the day after this happened. Thinking it was a collection call, I ignored it because I had already paid and was never late in the 5+ years I had been renting there. It was only later that I saw something on the news about a 4-alarm fire in Moreno Valley and found out that way. Then, of course I began calling repeatedly only to be told yes, there was a fire and when I gave my unit #, they said it was a total loss. Nothing else. So, I drove down there that weekend and found the place completely closed - even the rental office - and the gates locked down. If anything happened to be remaining from my unit, I couldn't even get in to see/retrieve it. Finally I went back midweek the following week (60 miles from home, had to leave work, etc etc etc) to find someone working, but telling us we couldn't go back into the area where the fire was. By then, the entire area was surrounded by chain link fence and filled with at least 10 workers who had been hired to clean up the mess. Several other renters were there, and we were all trying to just see what we could, hoping to find something salvageable in the piles. They said we couldn't be there because it was too dangerous. Well, they were all in plain clothes themselves; a couple had hard hats on. I would have gladly signed a waiver releasing anyone from all liability if I had just been allowed closer to the remains. Obviously nothing was on fire; it had been a week by now. I would have taken full responsibility. Some people store junk; I happened to have very valuable items in my unit and I was praying that anything whatsoever might still be left unburned. I asked the men if they had seen any remnants of pinball machines. Yes, I had 3 of them in my unit. They said no, nothing like that. Are you telling me a full sized arcade game burned so bad that even the metal parts inside couldn't be recognized? To this day, I feel something very fishy went on there and although the MV fire dept has been very courteous when I've asked about the fire report, the fact remains that they never completed an investigation or found a cause. I check Craigslist weekly for my things because I have this horrible feeling that they were stolen before the fire, and then the units set on fire to cover it up. I'll never know - unless I find a great psychic someday - but I'm still angry that I wasn't allowed near my belongings, however charred they might have been. read more

The staff here is super friendly and helpful, the units look like they're brand new (I was surprised to see some comments say they've rented here for years and I thought this place has only been up for a few months based on the pristine condition). Customer Service is a service that was not provided well today. The "ASSISTANT MANAGER" Jason Simmons was not pleasant and was slightly rude; he raised his voice as he rambled on and on and didn't really take the time to hear what I was asking him. When he was done being defensive and providing the absolute worst customer service; I asked my question and he said "why didn't you say that". If he would have focused on listening instead of being defensive and rude he would have avoided this review. I have dealt with Cori in the past and she has been wonderful from the beginning. Needs less to say I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I also asked him for he corporate number and he knowingly gave me the number to Extra Space Sales dept. and said call them if you want to. I'm strongly disappointed. On July 2nd my storage unit burnt to the ground and I was notified the following day by a voice mail telling me to call them. Nothing seemed urgent. I was on vacation so I waited a couple days and they called again, so I picked up and they notified me. That was my ONLY contact with my facility that I have been able to make since this happened TWO weeks ago. I have called every day for the past two weeks at all different times of the day, and no matter when it always goes to voice mail. Their phones are not damaged, they still have active units...hundreds as a matter of fact. I was 1 of 60 out of the 758 total on sight that burnt down. They called me from the phone lines on sight initially after the fire so I know they are in order. I have left between 3-4 voice mails and not one person has returned my urgent call. I asked to be refunded for the month I paid ahead for, since my unit burnt down a couple days later, and I have not received a refund and at that point my account was still not closed, I even showed a bill for next month due. Extra Storage always had no problems calling me if I was even 12 hours late on my payment but now that there is a tragedy, I get NO customer support. I finally contacted headquarters and they put in an urgent message to management but it has now been over 24 hours and I have not received a call back. However, I do show my account is closed, they told me to give another 24 hours to hear back. No refund yet. You would think in a tragic time like this for many people, they would be willing to talk to their customers and assist them with any questions. They could not tell me what started the fire and I have not received a single call since the initial fire, regarding the investigation, though I have asked about that as well. People who lose all of their belongings want answers. Just horrible. You could not pay me to use your storage facilities again, and that has nothing to do with the fire, because that was most likely out of Extra Space's hands. Just awful customer service. I'll make sure to pass that on unless anyone can convince me otherwise for my 1 star review. read more
