About 2 min after we got on the road, Moana called us, asking if we were still Interested in the unit we had been attempting to rent online. We said we were in our way over due to tech issues. When we got there Moana and Joe were super accommodating and let us know that the site had been finicky but they were happy to honor the price online and lock it in for us. We got a tour of the units and it the place looks really clean. Our unit is fully indoors, so the door isn't facing the outside and no worries about the dust we get all across Santa Maria blowing in, or any exposure to the elements. They really helped us out, getting the storage unit was the least stressful part of our move so far. (Writing almost a month later). And we've been coming in and out at least 2-3 times a week and so far everything has stayed nice and clean as the day we brought it in.

Terrible Experience - Harassment and Property Risk at StorQuest Santa Maria…read more If I could give negative stars, I would. My experience with StorQuest Storage in Santa Maria, CA has been nothing short of a nightmare. During an incredibly difficult time of unemployment and financial hardship, I was doing my best to keep up with my bills through low-paying gig work. Despite my efforts, StorQuest bombarded me with excessive calls, texts, and emails demanding I call them back--even though I had already spoken with their weekend staff early on. That initial conversation was clear: I was told I had until May 25th to pay the past due amount or my belongings would be auctioned off the next day, on the 26th. They also informed me of a $50 fee being added on May 18th. I made sure to confirm this information before ending the call. However, the harassment didn't stop. I continued to receive rude voicemails and calls for no valid reason--despite clearly being within the time frame they themselves had given me. The worst of it came on May 15th, when I received a shocking voicemail (screenshot attached) saying they were going to drill off my lock and prepare my unit for auction--a full 10 days before the deadline I was given. When I immediately called to understand why this was happening, the woman at the facility hung up on me mid-question. I was calm, polite, and only wanted an explanation. When I called back, the man answered and, in a bizarre and aggressive tone, told me, "I am going now to drill off your lock," and then hung up on me too. I contacted StorQuest's corporate line and was met with an apology and an assurance that, if my lock was removed, a new lock would be placed to secure my unit. This was a lie. When I finally managed--with the help of my mother--to pay and move out, we discovered that no lock had been placed on the unit at all, leaving my belongings completely exposed and vulnerable to theft. And yes, some of my property was missing and damaged during the rushed and unnecessary chaos caused by their actions. I've never experienced such unprofessional, aggressive, and frankly unstable behavior from a business. Not only did they fail to follow their own policies, but they also put my personal belongings at risk, drilled and destroyed my personal lock, and treated me with blatant disrespect during a very sensitive time. Do NOT store your property here. This place does not operate with integrity, professionalism, or basic human decency. I strongly believe legal action may be appropriate, and at the very least, they owe me for the destroyed lock and missing property. Avoid StorQuest Santa Maria at all costs.

As of recent, there is new management and no way to access outside of regular business hours. This poses a problem for people who are planning trips etc and have different hours due to work or distance. I am very disappointed with the response I was given and no notification that this would not be allowed. I will share that I was told this was in the contract and nothing has changed but it certainly would have been nice to receive a note reinforcing the policy if it was being altered by previous management. We have kept our trailer at a number of different facilities over the years and never seen such a policy. I do understand that you want to keep potential crime and things to a minimum but that is also what security cameras are for.

He pulled the gun out on my girlfriend when we were there obtaining my property because for some weird reason, he has kicked us out when I've only met the guy one OTHER time and it was an odd interaction. Next thing I know I'm being kicked out with no explanation. I'm given two weeks and like I said the gun being pulled out on my girlfriend was so unexpected and scary and they shut the gate on me also which hurt my foot almost breaking it when I was just simply asking for an explanation and for time to obtain my property, but I was yelled at I was pulled a gun on in the gate was shut on my foot. Not to mention the lady in the office is so weird and she seems like she's high on drugs, always twiddling and tweaking and saying weird things and walking around like she's just an old drug addict. I don't recommend this place at all. I give it a 0 to 0 stars if you like people that pull guns on customers for no reason, especially customers that have mental illnesses like my girlfriend she has mental illness and he pulled a gun on her because she was having a was having a manic episode due to her past trauma, and he really hit that trauma when he pulled a gun on her. We both left screaming out of there scared for our lives. Why would he pull a gun on us and tell us that he doesn't call cops? don't recommend this place at all.

Oh and there is candy in the office, that's always a double plus. Haha. I rented a 5' x 10' unit and it fit my 1 bed apt with plenty of room to spare (couch/ love seat, queen bed, 2 night stands, dining room table and 4 chairs, coffee table and three standing lamps + 6 boxes). Had an upstairs unit, but was able to use their dollies and freight elevator to bring up all I needed. The hardest part was trying to get friends to help me move. All in all a great place to store, I highly recommend them. I will gladly use again next time I need a place to store my stuff!

This was by far the most unprofessional and abusive moving company I have ever dealt with, and I implore you AVOID this company at all costs. If you want your items and furniture to be taken care of and arrive UNDAMAGED or ARRIVE AT ALL (as they did not for me), HIRE ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANY!! They do not care about you or your belongings. Here's a snapshot of my experience: I hired them to move my belongings from San Luis Obispo to San Francisco. From the very beginning in San Luis Obispo, the movers did not use blankets, padding, or any materials to meaningfully protect my items. I watched them place my dresser, nightstand, bed frame, and other wood furniture DIRECTLY onto the concrete sidewalk, then stack everything in the truck bare. By the time my items were delivered in San Francisco, nearly every major piece of furniture was damaged. My dresser and nightstand had multiple chips and scratches, my bed frame and headboard were gouged, my refrigerator had a large dent, and my picture frames were scuffed and chipped, and ripped, some of them irreplaceable. In addition to the damage, some of my belongings never arrived. My rug and lampshade are still missing to this day. During delivery, the movers also brought out items that did not belong to me, including a mattress and multiple framed pictures. I informed them immediately that the mattress was not mine and it was removed, but I was left with another customer's picture frame. This raises serious concerns for me about how customers' property was being handled. The most egregious part of this move occurred during delivery in San Francisco. After the movers arrived, saw the apartment, and began unloading, they did not raise any issue or mention any additional charges. However, halfway through unloading, they demanded an additional $412 via a Change Order and refused to continue carrying my belongings upstairs unless I signed and paid immediately. I was told my items would be left in the lobby if I did not agree. This happened in the middle of the move, after a significant portion of my belongings had already been brought into the apartment. I felt I had no practical choice but to sign in order to complete delivery, and I believe the way this fee was imposed mid-move was misleading, coercive, and improper. When I politely pointed out some of the damage, one of the movers, became hostile. He shouted at me, saying "F*** you man, I'm done," before storming out of my apartment. He left my mattress lying on the floor and the headboard loose and improperly installed. The other mover offered minimal help before also leaving, but the job was incomplete and I was left to deal with the situation on my own. After the move, I tried multiple times to reach the company's manager, Kevin, who was my main point of contact. I left several voicemails explaining that I wanted to discuss the serious issues I had faced. He never called me back--and has yet to do so. Adding insult to injury, before all of this, when I asked to reschedule my delivery from Sunday to Monday, which happened to be Labor Day, the company agreed no problem but sent me a text saying, "Yes, we can do that, no problem, but please tip our guys well as they'll be giving up their Labor Day." Asking for a tip in advance of service is highly unprofessional. I would happily tip for a job well done, but this could not have been more of a disastrous move. In the end, my total charges increased from the original $2,100 "Not to Exceed" estimate to $2,500 after the mid-move Change Order. My belongings were damaged and some items were missing, one of the movers verbally berated me and left the job incomplete, and I was required to sign and pay an additional fee in the middle of unloading in order to complete delivery. The company has since failed to meaningfully communicate directly with me. I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services. This company's conduct during my move was reckless and abusive, and in my experience highly misleading. If you value your belongings, your money, or your peace of mind, I strongly recommend choosing another company. I have attached photos showing the lack of protection and the resulting damage so others can make an informed decision.
