"I'm working in my unit; I didn't realize it was timed." While waiting for the sheriff's dept to file a report, three homeless people ambled out the gate. I've seen all three there multiple times when I've been at my unit to get something. I wandered around while waiting for the deputy to arrive, and saw another lady obviously living in her unit. The doors to the buildings are left open, which makes climate control mute. One day I was there, the big gate was even left open. ‍

My biggest gripe is that the side gate is broken constantly. I don't feel like the place is secured when the gate is sitting opened or blocked by a uhaul. It's also inconvenient that I go to one exit just to have to turn around and go to the other side. When I first signed up online it was confusing a little bit. It didn't ask if I wanted 24/7 access but I saw it on my invoice for my initial purchase. Later called because my access wasn't working and the lady said I never had 24/7 access and had to pay the $10 a month for the access. Weird

Following morning (MONDAY) showed up at opening time 9:00 am. Closed..... waited an hour with car full. No response on phone, no response on email.......had to book another storage somewhere else. (OTTER Storage- very easy & was in within 10 minutes). Continued to call throughout the day for refund without reply. As of today, the 7th, DeLand SS still has not answered my phone call OR email. (It was easy to recognize, I had rented a 5 x 10 myself in Tampa recently).This one was also much shorter in height than the unit in Tampa) After five, so I called the number, and was told to check another unit that was available. This was measured five by almost 6 feet! They offered no resolution, but at least refunded my deposit... recommend you see a unit you are going to rent to be certain it is enough space for you!!!!

The Deland location has had a broken gate for a month now, so anyone can drive right in. It's dirty and old , definitely a fire hazard, they don't even offer insurance here. They also have a rat problem that has not been addressed. The sewer grating spews raw sewage onto the parking lot when it rains. There are some units that people live in with their dogs. There is dog waste in the parking lot that doesn't get picked up. These homeless people that decided to take up residence here think the bathroom is their own personal bathroom , taking baths in the sink and just making the bathroom more disgusting that it already is. The bathroom floor has a permanent puddle that stays on the floor. Many long term renters say she's continuously raising their rent, to the point most of them have moved out. She's very nasty, no customer service skills whatsoever. Her husband is supposed to be the maintenance but obviously that's not happening. This place is creepy as heck with the people living there doing drugs and no security whatsoever not even a gate that works. If I could give this storage facility a -5 I would. Beware
