That being said, I strongly suggest that the owners of CubeSmart are greedy, money grubbing scum. Recently, they have disallowed calling the store directly and paying the monthly invoice by credit card over the phone. (In years past, I have had one storage unit and two parking spaces.) They no longer allow payment by phone to the site that you do business with. If you call corporate as they suggest, there is a surcharge of $4 for paying by credit card over the phone. Think about it! Paying four dollars to have the privilege of paying your bill!!! Even if you pay it online, you are charged an additional $2. You are allowed to pay your bill in person at the storage facility, I believe, at no surcharge. Living in Boston, driving to Brockton to pay the bill every month is without merit. I shall endeavor to clean out my storage unit soon and flip the bird to CubeSmart.

Norbert, the gentleman in the office that day, could not have made the process easier. Via the computer, Norbert transferred me to a smaller unit, explained that I would receive a credit from the larger unit for vacating prior to the end of the month, and that I would have twenty-four hours to move my belongings from the larger to the smaller unit. Just to mention, Norbert - while conducting rounds throughout the building - took the time to stop and ask if I needed anything. It's impossible for me to fix on my own, so I often have to wait for many hours for someone to assist. When this happens after the office is closed the storage unit is not able to be closed OVERNIGHT. As one can easily imagine, I've contracted a storage unit so that I have offsite safekeeping for my belongings. In my understanding of renting storage units, that's kind of the point. If the storage unit is wide-open overnight -- or at any time when I am not there to choose and supervise that -- it is entirely ineffective in fulfilling its only purpose. Further, the latch doesn't slide, so often times I can't open the door, or lock it. I'm very grateful one of the friendly employees once called me to tell me that the unit was unlocked. If they didn't do that, I wouldn't have known in that particular instance; several other times I DID know, because it wouldn't lock and I noticed that for myself. This is all clearly very problematic, even as a once off, it's happened on a multiple times per month basis for the 15 months I've had the unit. This is a chronic ongoing issue. Extra Space Storage does nothing to fix the problem or mitigate the cost to myself so I have to absolutely insist that anyone reading this please consider alternative options. Spending money every month to waste your time and ruin your day isn't a common chosen pastime, but if you're an unlikely fan of that, by all means, go for it!

BEWARE!!! Water damage…read more Water damage! Spent approximately $10,000 in storage fees for all of my furniture to be water damaged and basically need to be replaced. My bed is black on the end of the bed from water damage. Most of the boxes the were bent and collapsed from water damage. Furniture black from water it's disgusting. Now I paid all that money for nothing. I have to replace everything anyway. The guy demanded a five star review I would never give him even one star but I have to.
