I had written a review a couple months ago regarding rodent droppings over some of our items in storage... we are now moving out of the storage unit and we are in disbelief oh just how much damage and the amount of droppings that are all over our things. this is an absolute health hazard.. especially since I am pregnant.. there is no way we can bring these items into our new home. extra space has been NO help at all. now have to throw away 2 of our couch sets as they are no longer usable. to note: we had an indoor storage unit AND they raised our rental by SO much money monthly even with the issues we were having. this place is disgusting- please avoid at all cost!!!!! read more

About a year ago, I rented a storage space at the Ashland, MA location of Extra Space Storage. I arranged this from out if state. I spoke to Andrew who was pleasant enough. But within a year, the monthly rent went from $149 to $307. In fact, they stopped putting the dollar amount on my automatic payment text messages, which is deceptive behavior in my opinion. I called Andrew once about the first rent increase and he said he could hold it back if "market conditions" allow. But not long after this, the rent went up again. A search of online reviews and Reddit suggest that this is common practice for Extra Space Storage in many locations, and it may be corporate policy issued by the Salt Lake City headquarters, to set a low initial rate to attract customers, and then increase rates. Online reviews provided within the first month of renting will not mention this problem! Some people may be paying increased rents without even realizing it. Save yourself a headache and if you can, insist on a contract with a price guarantee. If they don't give it to you, walk away! read more

Bait and switch advertising. Advertised one rate and immediately jacked up the rates once the prepaid period was over. Went up almost $200 a month in a year. Tons of mice droppings in the unit as well. They definitely don't do as good of pest control as they should for a climate-controlled storage building. read more

Reserved online because this was the best priced place requested a 5 x 10 inside unit temperature controlled. Got a call confirming a exterior unit with no mention of temperature control. We played phone tag all week. I would call nobody would ever picked up the phone. They were always away from the desk.I told them the specific times that they could call me and actually reach me, they never did. Via phone calls I made them aware that I will be there first thing on the 13th, our move-in day. Arrived, stood at the door, knocked, ring the bell, nobody there. Sign said they were open, nobody was there. This said now we scramble for a back up plan on the day of the move. I called other facilities she's reached out to this. It turned out Site manager was off at the bank. We finally reached the corporate office who finally reach the manager, who was supposed to be on site, but was doing a bank run. Unfortunately I kind of expected something like this to happen. As every time I tried to call to confirm my reservation nobody ever picked up. We are giving them a shot, even though they blew the first impression. Three stars becausemanager James is totally personable and apologetic. Four stars maybe later, five stars are even possible. read more

James is the best. Period. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He explained every aspect of my rental thoroughly.

Rented a unit here for close to three years, during that time the price increased by $80/month! Very disappointed! In addition, my stuff got water damaged. Lost a good deal of a lifetime collection, the insurance did pay, but some is irreplaceable. Such a disappointment. We have moved to a much more reasonably priced setting, and 6 months later, no price increases, stay away if you expect to store long term. read more

The stuff helping us is called James. In general, extremely helpful person and service. We need some special arrangement since we need to put in some stuff from moving company. We also need to send packages to the unit before we physically come to the unit. James helped us deal with all these problems that allow us to have a very pleasant moving experience. I would definitely recommend any one in Natick/Framingham area to use this service. read more

Amazing workers there. with all the snow we got they had shoveled where my storage unit was in an extreme cold and windy conitions. i also had to change what size at last minute due to underestimating the size and amount of belonging i had. They also had to help me look around the property after i had lost my cell phone which we found outside on the ground. They were nothing but helpful for a first time storage person read more

I rented a unit with them because they offered the free first month deal. I rented with them for exactly three years and each year the price went up drastically. When it was time for me to move my belonging out I used the online request to move out. A few hours later I got two calls and an email from them asking me to call them back. When I did, the man was very rude and he seemed very angry that I used the online request. He told me that he does not like customers to use that service but to call him. Extremely professional approach to the storage business. On-site manager at this location is a security plus. Manager on duty was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Units are clean and neat, inside and out. Good security system and an option for more secure locks on each unit. Definitely a cut above previous self-storage units I've used and competitively priced as well. read more

We recently moved from western MA to the metrowest area to be closer to my husbands job in Boston, and ended up downsizing in the process. A co-worker of DH had used a location closer to Boston and recommended we use Extra Space. About four minutes after I reserved online, I received a call from a manager to introduce herself. I hadn't even closed the tab yet, and already had them on the phone, I was blown away by the customer service. She was friendly and knowledgeable and so willing to help, by the time we hung up I was EXCITED to rent a storage space. (Who knew that was even possible?!) We met with the manager, Pete, two days before our move. The lady manager had told us he'd be there that day, and said they were "excited to have us as their happy customers" and that they were proud to show us the place, and were sure we'd love it. You drive up a hill and park at the office, after you turn a corner you'll see just how big this place is. Pete showed us the unit, and we were surprised by how clean everything (the lot and the space and office) were. It's obvious they take the time to maintain and care for the place, it looked brand new but he said it was about 5-6 years old. Pete was friendly and patient with us and all our questions, and made us laugh a few times throughout the process. (Again, who knew storage would be fun?!) The managers are always smiling and happy whenever we go to our space, they wave and talk to us. Kinda feels like a 1950's movie, they're so friendly and always have big smiles, more than once I've heard them say they love the company and their jobs. It seems like they know most of the people by name, she even said to us "I remember all the nice people!" (Good customer service maybe, but I like to think we ARE nice!) I feel safe knowing these two live there, and care about their customers and my belongings. I read other reviews, and was nervous about storage in general, but I've been blown away by how well everything has gone. It's safe and clean, and all my expectations have been surpassed. Clean and neat, easily accessible. However, I was disappointed to find the 'price' I had been quoted online increased by $28 when I went to sign up in person. I was told the reason was due to limited availability, 'one left'- but I was told that was the situation when I was searching online as well. So far so good! I rented a temperature controlled 10x10 last Friday. The space is very clean and easily accessible. The manager, James was great as was the woman from Salt Lake City I made the initial reservation with over the phone. If this facility is convenient for you I would recommend it. read more

This is my first time renting a storage unit. I do not know what to expect but so far, it has been a pleasant experience. The Manager, James, has been very accommodating and showed me several different sized units (empty) before I decided on the 10x10.
