Not only am I not receiving my mail, but all of the cards, both credit cards and holiday cards seems to disappear! When approaching the two dark skinned men, they found it funny that I insisted they look for a package that was on hold there. It is their app that revealed where my package was being held! When asked to look again, the shorter of the two took a smoke break and came back with nothing but a terribly hostile attitude. Excuse me for asking him to do his job! I didn't know that he is getting paid to sit there and laugh at customers! It took the wonderful German woman that was changing the box locks to help! She saw and heard everything and felt terrible for my kid! He was painfully disappointed. She went above and beyond to get his package. I couldn't help but tearfully hug her... a lot! She did not have to do anything, yet she was kind enough to do so! What shocked me the most was when the manager defended those two mean men. Never defend that behavior. I felt like she has had to do that way too many times! We have no choice other than to go there, and it angers me that so many of us are subjected to those two. It seems to be the culture there. Personally, I chose to allow the person behind me go if I am next to deal with either of them. I allow silence to speak louder than my voice ever could. I refuse to allow them to dictate my day there! Stand strong when going into their playground! You are not alone!

I opted to go on a weekday; this past Wednesday to be exact. I had prepared myself for a bit of a wait, cold temperatures (it was about 10 degrees in the shade when I arrived), and I also arrived about 30 minutes prior to opening. This seemed to be a fairly popular tactic as there were maybe 10 people ahead of me. Once the doors opened we all made our way to the second floor where we hopped in line outside the office. Anyone with appointments were called in first. After that they started working the line to see if others needed forms and we slowly made our way into the main room. We were all given a number and I was immediately directed to a window where I was assisted by a very efficient woman. She ran down a few verification questions and handed me a receipt reflecting my new name. So simple! From arrival (30 minutes early) to walking out the doors this whole process took a whole 50 minutes. Whoa! Was not expecting that at all!! While I can't say it was my favorite experience, I can definitely say I was expecting much worse! Aurora Social Security Office you are easily an "A-OK" in my book! **Pro Tip: Go online and fill out the forms you need in advance, print them up, and bring them with you. This will save you some time and make it a much smoother experience!

What would you expect out of your city when times are hard? Well let me tell you what you get with Aurora, CO. You get wanna be cops going around giving citizens violation notices for things like having propane tanks on your camper (lawfully stored on the side on the house in a designated parking spot) or on your propane firepit, bare spots in your lawn after having a main line replaced and the grass hasn't grown back yet despite two rounds of seeding, fertilizing and watering (with water restrictions in place from the city). Then at the city parks you have overflowing trash cans, you have homeless camps with trash and drug use, you have a homeless camp just about every block. You have gun shots every night, you have burglaries, unresponsive cops (72 hour response times), you have a joke of a justice system, these criminals are back out on the streets the same day (if they even bother to apprehend someone). Don't even get me started on their public school system. Just look up the ratings, it's an embarrassment. This city has got to be one of the worst rated cities in the country at this point. The Process-I can tell you that there are people with appointments, who are in and out in 15 min or less. For the rest, it could take a while. Not an extremely long time, but they speed up dramatically when it's closing time. The Employees- Yes, it's obvious some hate their jobs. Most are friendly and courteous, a few were curt and in my opinion, need a hug, a role model, or someone to tell them things are going to be ok. The Customers- Wow. This place has a rough crowd. However, I did have some concerns about the thoroughness of the inspection. I was able to point out a few things myself that were initially missed, and it seemed like the technician performing the inspection may have been new, as they needed guidance from more experienced team members. Because of this, I don't feel completely confident that the inspection was as comprehensive as it should have been.
