I have lived in this area that is serviced by e470 for over 17 years and have never had an issue with my account. I do not have autopay however once my account dips below a certain amount, i am contacted by the billing department with a reminder to "charge up". Now while it doesn't cost to have a transponder/sticker tag, using the tolls can run quite a bit of money. But drivers know they have a choice. Running late to an appointment? Use 470. Have time to spare? Drive Gun Club. It's that simple. The Authority has an office just off Stephen Hogan Pkwy (former Aurora Mayor). E470 continues to make improvements, creating expansion lanes and installing deer fencing along heavily traffic routes. And the bonus? Free roadside assistance!! Minus five stars to be accurate. Got a bill from a collection agency wanting 54 dollars and change for driving E-470 in January 2024. Only I wasn't in Denver during January 2024. And never received any billing for this phantom charge previously. I did use it last month to go to the airport. And tried to pay, only the online system has no record of it. It just says something about not having an account. But they want 35 dollars to set up an account. Tried to call and get put on hold. How is this not a scam? I'll probably get a bill a year from now with all sorts of extra fees even though I've tried to pay on their idiotic system. I've used the Illinois tollways multiple times and can always go online and pay without issue within 24 hours. What's the issue with Colorado? Clueless!! read more

Apparently my car traveled on one toll, which is not possible, and 5 months later without the transaction showing on my account they send me a letter adding on $20 as a collection fee. Not good is a vast understatement. This "authority" is a blight on Colorado. This appears to be almost an outright scam. E470s customer service is absolutely horrific, they will lie to you, hang up on you, threaten you, argue with you, and overall have no idea what they're doing or even how their own system works. The good reviews are fake, they're employees trying to make it look like this isn't just a complete scam. E470 had an almost 20 year old payment account, along with email, they were periodically sending bills to, from a toll incident 7 years ago. " They claim they use the DMV or Postal Service to keep addresses up to date, they don't!!!! Which resulted in never receiving a bill or any type of notice, yet they continue to add fees. They now want $450 for an $18 toll. And there's no way to even access their system, their phone payment system requires a document id, I never received any documents, their online system wants to verify 20 year old info I don't have. When offered the actual amount of the toll they refuse and say they can only take off $100 of their own fees, despite the error being their own. Upon review of BBB, they're doing this constantly and to everyone. Failing to get accurate address information, failing to send bills or notices, sending incorrect tolls to people. Further, they claim there's a hearing and a hearing officer has made a final judgement and even though you've never received a hearing notice, or any notice so you have no option to appear or contest. And when you call in, you cannot even verify who the hearing authority or officer is. They can't tell you anything about their hearing process. Basically, it's a lie and scam! There's no truth to anything they tell you. How much of the billions they're making of Coloradans are these false fees they charge people for their own failure to send proper notices or update their address information? They're stealing from Colorado! They are 100% not trustworthy! They are a dangerous organization, not even beholden to the state of Colorado. This so called "authority" needs to be shut down. In the past 2 years I have used $200 worth of tolls with E-470. I was signed up for an account with my CC attached. I have updated my address with the DMV always when I change my address. The folks at E-470 says they deactivate my account one year ago. They say they notified me via my gmail account with 4 emails. If you're like me, you get tons of spam emails and I certainly don't check spammy types of emails from toll companies. Because my account was deactivate, I incurred 200% in late fees (roughly $400). They also suspended my registration renewal with the state of CO. So, now that I didn't check my gmail account with an email from E-470 saying my account has been deactivated, I am liable for these fees. I went through their process of activating an account years ago, pre paid and gave them a CC to charge so these late fees would never occur. They're lack of communication to notify me about this seems to fraudulent, especially by feeing 200%. I have heard our Governor Pollis was putting away with these practices. I have also heard about this happening to friends, and even on the local news station. And the fact that a private company can suspend my registration renewal with the state run DMV is just wrong. If E-470 will admit that they're tactics to get payment from me were not adequate, I would be happy to pay what I owed for the tolls. I'd even take a penalty for not seeing their email. But 200% above whats owed is absolutely excessive. Did you know they take a $25 late fee, a $25 collection fee, another legal fee for every $4 something toll. I don't seem them using any sort of collection agency, either. Our Governor needs to be reminded that this is too much. Our media will be reminded if this isn't resolved. That fact they can put a hold on vehicle registration, is wrong. I feel sorry for the many who have compounded fees and can't afford to pay, then don't have a car to get to work because they are unable to registrar. This road is very deceiving! Been on our fair share of toll roads and this was bad! There were no signs explaining what the road was and unfortunately our directions did not have this listed as a toll road either. We did not see a sign about the road being a toll one until we were trapped and couldn't get off. When looking into how we will get charged for our unfortunate interaction with this road, there is no way to make an account without putting money into it. I will never travel this road again EVER. I don't want to have an on-going account and I don't want a transponder but that is required when trying to setup an account. Just want to pay the bill for the toll of the time we were accidentally on the road. Unfortunately, it sounds like we have to wait for a mailed statement that may or may not come in a timely manner based on other reviews. Why can't this ridiculous road have a cash/card booth to pay like others? This cashless drive through take your plate picture thing is ridiculous! So many mistakes can happen with this type of system and technology plus the delayed process. At least if you trap people on a road like this let us just pay the dang toll easily and efficiently with no account sign up or issues. Driving on 470, I purposefully entered the express lane when I saw the dotted line. A few seconds later I realized the dotted line was to veer drivers off the express lane. Got a ticket for $75.00 and was charged $150 for not responding within 30 days. I asked for forgiveness since this truly was an honest mistake. Total scam. I took the toll road one time. I paid on www.expresstoll.com and they made me pay AGAIN on www.go-pass.com. If you call them and tell them there's a mistake, they will literally laugh at you like they did to me. Wow, if I could give this business Zero Stars, I would. They MAY be legit, but their practices are far from ethical. The business is based in CO, and I live in MN, and have never driven in CO. I've received multiple bills with increasing penalties stating that they caught my car on a camera driving through a toll. After wasting a couple hours of my life they said, "Oops, our mistake...we'll remove you from our system." Never mind that they somehow gathered quite a bit of my personal info including part of my SSN, make of car, license plate, etc. How they did this I don't know. I'm guessing that some person or team has a fat incentive structure that rewards them for bills paid, whether they are legitimate, or not. They're obviously aggressively trying to get revenue from anyone who MAY have traveled to Colorado. How they thought that my car was in CO when I've never driven there is disturbing. Total scum bag company. I am literally receiving tolls over year later for cars I don't even own anymore. They will claim to send you toll fees in the mail, but you will never receive them, so they will charge you late fees, and when you call in they will act like they are doing you a favor by waiving half of the late fee. So they can take over a year to get the toll out to me, but I've got a week to pay it. Seems fair. This is a total scam hiding in plain sight. Sending you out bills months- years later, and sometimes even double charging, but its so long ago how can I remember exactly. You just have to trust you're not getting ripped off. And what are we going to do? take them to court over $15 in tolls? Total scam. Yes, E-470 is awful! Unfortunately, I have to travel it daily for work but regret it monthly when I get my bill. I have a request into them as to why they are billing my credit card for a car that I did not mine. E-470 is 47 miles long and it costs $22.55 from beginning to end. No service stations - gas, food, etc. In comparison, The Mass Turnpike is 138 miles long and costs $13.55 to travel the entire length of the road with nine service stations along the route. The Garden State Parkway is 117 miles long and is $18.85 to travel that entire route. This is an organization riddled with travel scandals, numerous reports of billing errors and unpatrolled roads with overaggressive drivers. I rented a car in Oregon. It had Colorado plates. I never drove to Colorado. I just received an invoice for $51.40 for tolls. Again, I was not in Colorado. I was passing thru the State of Co via boulder to Fl. Unfortunately there was poor signage and poor turnaround so I got struck on their toll road ramp exit and had to pay it $2.05 just to turn around to go back where I came from. The License Plate Toll service provider could not waive my fee because it was not construction. A waste of money and an annoyance that I need to pay to an exit that I did not want to use when I got struck in this congested commuting hours of E-470. Thankfully I didn't have to pay another fee to pay the fee. Definitely a sour taste in my mouth in visiting this state. For next time, make sure your avoid toll option is on for your GPS mapping app. I definitely won't be moving to CO when they nickel and dime its residents. Giving this road 1 star is totally unfair. Especially when you consider a lot of people posting about this road are misinformed or just complaining about the cost. The road is not "taxpayer-funded" and anyone telling you that it is wrong. Nobody wants to pay taxes but then they turn around and say they also don't want to pay a user fee. Turns out when you update your address with the DMV, the E-470 and DMV conveniently don't speak with one another. You just have to hope you can remember or write down that you went through a toll while driving. Imagine an organization that sends you a list of charges and balance due but omits any record of payments received. Imagine a company that requires you maintain a positive balance of $35.00 in your account at all times. I received a License plate toll charge for E-470 on 4-19-23 at 06:29am. The Plate number matched one of my vehicles which is rarely driven and never on the E-470 toll road. I know for sure, It was home in my driveway at the time of the toll. After receiving this invoice, I walked out to my driveway and verified the license plate is attached to my Pickup truck and it is not a missing or stolen plate. The vehicle has a working E-470 transponder and was parked in my driveway at the exact time of the toll charge. No-one else has access to the vehicle and I was home getting ready to leave for work at the time of the toll charge. I have a company vehicle and rarely drive the vehicle during the week. The E-470 highway Authotity has people who do nothing but verify license plates in toll reader videos. This is an extremely flawed method of reading license plates and they mis-read the plate number or associated state ID for the actual vehicle passing the toll reader. I sent E-470 customer service an email requesting: Check your records. This CO plate# is attached to a Black 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup. Please review your video records and refund the toll charge. I provided my vehicle information Make Model Year and color but I'm not optimistic they will refund the charge. I recommend using any other route than the extremely expensive E-470 toll road. It's my opinion at this point in the age of the toll highway; it should be a minimal toll charge or free. I drive a company vehicle with all expenses paid and stopped using E-470 a couple of years ago. I found I can arrive anywhere along the E-470 route within the same time or earlier than when I used this very expensive toll road. It might get you out of stop and go traffic but the time saved is not what you would expect. I think DA. who posted a 5 star review on 10-2-2019 must be an E-470 highway authority employee. It's my opinion, it should not cost even a 10th of the $26.10 for a round trip from C-470 and I-25 to Pena Blvd exit to Denver International Airport. I'll preface this by stating that I'm by default anti-tollway. I'm not in the habit of spending fifty cents a mile unless I'm in a limo, with a glass of champagne in my hand, and somebody else is paying. Different strokes for different folks, right? However, I am a scientist at heart, so I decided to do a little experiment to see if the cost/benefit was worth it on the 5th most expensive toll road in the United States (source: https://thenewswheel.com/11-most-expensive-toll-roads-in-america/) The last few times I flew out for business via Denver International Airport, I timed driving from the junction of E470 and I-25 to the junction of E470 and Pena (near Denver International Airport) using two routes: 1: through E-470, and 2: I-25-I225-I70. The first trial was during morning flights, before rush hour. The goal here w to compare absolute unimpeded travel time. I made sure to follow all posted speed limits in order to not skew the results. Route 1 took 29 minutes. Route 2 took 30 minutes Well, so far, not a promising start. Perhaps traffic makes all the difference. trial two involved the same routes, but during lunch rush 11:30-12:30, with flights leaving at 2PM. Route 1 was fairly clear of traffic. Route 2 had thicker traffic, but the flow maintained the speed limit for most of the route. It did become a bit congested near the junction of 225 and I70, losing a few minutes. In all, Route 1 took 30 minutes, and Route 2 took 34 minutes. I may have been driving slightly slower on route 1 due to the excessive police presence that day, so let's be fair and round down to the 29 minutes from trial 1. All in all, still not worth my money, even if I'm running late, unless there was a SERIOUS accident on 225, or I was planning to pound an additional beer with my 5 minutes of extra life before getting to my inevitably delayed flight. (Time saved via alternate routes- 1/5 stars. Not worth it unless there is a serious accident on alternate route and you have a SERIOUS deadline) But what of their billing? Surely, the fifth most expensive tollway in the US will have an extremely efficient billing system? Again- I'm sure your mileage will vary if you splurged on the tollway pass, but I am an irregular user, and wanted to gauge the irregular and tourist user experience. When my bill arrived, it came in the form of a late fee three months after my experiments, along with a scary looking "NOTICE OF CIVIL PENALTY, complete with legal sections, threats of court hearings, and an odd claim that failure to pay or file a complaint is "deemed an admission of liability"(???). Basically, if they don't hear from you, even if you never received a statement, they interpret that as admission of guilt. Perplexed, I went through my archived snail mails, and sure enough, I never received an original statement; just the late fee. Looking at other reviewers, it seems I am not an outlier here. My gut feeling is they don't send the original statement to irregular drivers in order to extort late fees. I did call the bill pay system up personally, and the representative agreed to remove half of the late fee. I have a feeling I could have been a jerk and had the fee removed completely, but it just wasn't worth it to me, plus the rep was very nice, and I didn't want to be an ass. You win E470, I paid 3 cents more per mile. (billing experience- 2/5 stars- Billing experience sucked and bordered on threatening and abusive, but in-person customer service was kind and considerate.) This brings me to the price. Why is this tollway so blasted expensive? By their own comment replies to people in here, they rank as one of the most expensive tollways in the nation because they overpaid for materials and construction when it was originally built, and continue to overpay on maintenance, upkeep, and advertising to this day (just look at the ad campaign at DIA for instance, and the fact that they spent a couple years and who knows how much money widening E470 an extra lane in Parker during an economic boom when construction costs were at an all time high- this all despite the fact that traffic congestion in that area was never a concern. Instead of lowering fees to increase users and activity, they drive them up to keep their roads clear of human activity. They do state that the original road construction costs will be paid off in 2041, so maybe your kids will be alive to see lower tolls. (price- 1/5; huge overhead and mismanagement from its inception precludes reasonable toll fees) Based on my three prong approach, I'm afraid that I must give E470 1/5 stars. It saves very little time in your travels, it systematically find ways to spring late fees on intermittent or tourist traffic in the hopes that you will pay more to avoid the hassle of disputing the late fees, and the prices are high not because of convenience, but because of mismanagement at every turn. read more

Used the Express Toll service for a few years to commute between Denver and Boulder. You're required to deposit $30 on the box so they can remove tolls with each use--once the "banked amount" gets below a certain level, they charge you. Which makes perfect sense. But now that I'm leaving CO, and the box is useless to me, I asked for a refund on that rolling $30, and they're refusing. Horrible, unfair policy, and it's impossible to fight. read more

Dial the numbers (either 303 or 888), and you'll see. . .just dead silence for about 30 seconds, and then a busy signal. . . or silence for 1 min and then "call ended". Another time I tried, "I'm sorry, your call can't be completed at this time." You know what, I'm not paying this time. NOT going to pay your false "late fee", and not even going to pay the toll. I think this company gets a bad rap. It is more then just collecting tolls. They maintain the road throughout the year. They are also very curious when they talked to me as well. read more
