After a frustrating situation taking my car to the dealer for an oil change, the dealer claimed I needed $1000 worth of work, I called Cal State Automotive to get a second opinion. Todd (the owner) was wonderful, he looked at my car and informed me of what he felt was "actually necessary to fix it, and it sounded to me like the dealer was just trying to get me to do unnecessary work and spend more $$ then needed. When the repairs were done, my all the car needed was NEW brakes!! Todd gave me an excellent price (half what the dealer quoted) and even went so far as to show me the rotors that had rusted and needed to be replaced (the dealer claimed that only the pads, rotors and wheel bearings needed changing). I felt well taken care of and that my car was in good, trustworthy hands. This is the car that I used to drive my children around and apparently I had a faulty tire that could have blown at any time that the dealer overlooked...well, lets just say...Todd is the auotomotive man I'll be "DEALING" with in the future!! read more

Steve from CalState is the best thing that ever happened to my 2003 InfinitiG35 and to me, her owner. I took my car to the Infiniti dealership and was handed a list of what they wrote were all these problems with my car. My car had less than 45,000 miles on it! The cost of all these supposedly problems with my car exceeded $5,000.00. I was flummoxed and mad at what I was told. When I asked if these problems were a safety issue I was told "No" but that if I wanted to keep my car then I should have it repaired. I checked Yelp for the top 10 automotive repair shops and read the many positive comments about Cal State and Steve. I met with Steve and he went through the check list from the dealership and found only 2 things that were wrong and they were not major issues. I will say this again - STEVE IS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO MY CAR! - He is completely honest, very professional and very knowledgeable. I had many more things done to my car which were my choices but Steve also found a radio repair shop in Florida that repaired my car radio that didn't work since 2013 due to a factory defect which according to Infiniti was not a recall. After more than 4 years my car radio is now working and let me tell you the sound from the acoustics of this car is unbelievable! THANK YOU STEVE! Being a single woman it is a great feeling to find a repair shop and a mechanic that respects you and treats you with the utmost respect and consideration and honesty. Cal State Automotive provides excellent service & great rates. I have a 2008 Altima that has had front end "noise/vibration" since work that was done @ dealer earlier this year. The dealer couldn't figure out the problems after several weeks of work & lots of $ out of my pocket. I took my car to Todd last week & within 1/2 of a day he knew what the problem was (left front strut) & made the repairs, I picked up the car @ no charge so I could drive it to make sure I was happy w/the repair. I don't know anyone that would do that so this shows incredible integrity in my opinion. I took the car back yesterday for the right strut to be replaced & he also made arrangements to have the car aligned & suggested I get a new set of tires. I drove my car home last night & it feels like new! I'm impressed & will definitely be back in the future for service. Thank you Todd & Steve!!! read more

Came here because my spark plug in my 2010 Mini Cooper S was broken in half and the threaded part was stuck inside. I had my car towed here all the way from Santa Cruz($500 for the tow) because I trusted Michael. I am so glad that I did because he took excellent care of my car. I had it checked at a shop in Santa Cruz but they just bang things and kinda made things worse. Michael realized their damage and even fixed what they did. If you are having trouble finding a reliable place look no where else. I am from Sacramento and was lost when trying to find someone in the Bay Area u till I talked to Michael. I can't say how happy I am to have found a shop like this one. The guys here are genuine and I have always been given the best service at an affordable price. I took my car in for an oil change a few months ago before going on a trip and when I told them about how I was leaving the next day, they did a check on my car to make sure I was good on fluids and all that. Unfortunately, they let me know I needed breaks but he said he would be able to do it right then and at a great price. They give honest answers about what is wrong, and will even tell me if I can wait a while to fix something since I am a student and don't always have the money at the time.
