Extremely frustrating experience with Dollar…read more I rented a car from the Simi Valley location and, while traveling in Las Vegas, the vehicle developed a mechanical issue. Instead of helping me exchange what I believed was a defective vehicle, I was told by the manager that I could be charged around $500 simply because the car would be left in Las Vegas. I was not trying to voluntarily change my return location or turn this into a one-way rental. I was asking for help because the vehicle was having a problem. The way this was handled made it feel like I was being financially penalized for reporting an issue with Dollar's own car. The communication was dismissive and the proposed charge was excessive and poorly explained. I would strongly recommend getting every fee and contingency in writing before renting from this location, especially if you plan to drive any meaningful distance from Simi Valley. Actually I would strongly recommend you simply stay away from this location. Very disappointing customer service and not how I expected a mechanical issue to be handled.

When I arrived, the phone inside the office was ringing and a man "Ash" was sitting there ignoring the phone doing nothing. I asked why he wouldn't answer the phone and he became rude and aggressive towards me. Finally he went to help me get my rental and first he went to the wrong vehicle which took about 10 minutes and then he went to another vehicle. He was pretending to have problems with the app. He seemed to be intentionally prolonging the process and intentionally inconveniencing me by making me wait another 10 minutes or so. Then he walked away rudely once he gave me the keys. I will never do business with this location again.

Thank you to Manny for getting me set up with a rental -- he was great…read more However, I want to flag an issue with the drop-off experience, handled by Tyler. Tyler was rude from the moment I arrived. He got up from his chair while doing nothing, and when I told him I needed to remove my items from the car before it was taken, he took my keys, got in the driver's seat, and started the engine. He then just sat there in the driver's seat, not moving, while I tried to gather my things in peace. He never offered to help me load my belongings, even though he could see I was carrying heavy bags. He also didn't let me fully clear out the car to make sure I hadn't left anything behind. I appreciated working with Manny, but Tyler needs to be spoken to. Getting too comfortable on the job isn't what customers should have to deal with.
