I went in for a walk in manicure. I haven't had a manicure in a few years because I've been doing my own nails, but I was on a time crunch and couldn't wait for my color to dry. The end result was worse than any polish job I've ever done... The nail polishes are not organized at all, and the supply and selection is super small for a nail polish business. The selection felt like a high schoolers polish stash. The technique and work was very poor, I do better work with my non dominant hand for sure. The technician kept painting my skin and went pretty far from my cuticle. Then when she was done they just sent me away like the job was done. With wet nails?? I asked about this and then they sat me at an old nail drier tucked away, its cycle was 60sec and my nails were still pretty wet. I had to figure out how to pull my card out of my wallet with my wet nails? Then they charged me $30. The next week I got charged the same price for premium long lasting polish and actual technique at a place my mom took me when I told her about this experience. This place is a rip off and total trash. Half the polish came off within the next hour and was completely gone by the end of the next day. We were so excited that on a Sunday, without an appointment they were able to get us in as walk ins Everyone was nice, however, after paying $197 before tip, for two deluxe pedis and two manicures, upgrade to gel for one pedi and one mani, that when I got home, on two of my toenails the gel polish was already off as well as on day 2 all but one of my gel manicured nails have come off. I have been to Express Nails on a few occasions now for gel manicures. The nail technicians are always very nice and greet everyone as soon as they enter. They often get very busy when I come on Sundays, so I highly recommend making an appointment as I have seen people turned away due to the traffic. The manicure experience is what I would expect, but I prefer this salon because the prices cannot be beat. They also have a great loyalty program I would encourage you to ask about if you plan to return-- $5 off after 3 visits! My manicures usually last about the expected 2 weeks, but the one pictured is at 2.5 weeks which I am excited about! Last Tuesday me and my daughter went to do manicure the technician Angela did my full set quick, she was rushing to do my nails, she didn't put the gel color properly, when I told her she keep said it on my skin. Another came he understand what I want.she refuses to do it and want to finish she can collecte the money. This place is so expensive. No good service. Terrible. Everything. I asked for dip nails, with almond shape. I had long natural nails and she basically cut them to stubs. All of my nails are different lengths and shapes, some are crooked too. It took her forever to do them and on the final gel coat she only made me put my nails under for 15 seconds. They immediately started peeling when I left. This place had no idea what they were doing for dip nails and would not recommend. Also not a great vibe, very quiet, no music, and dirty. read more

Had a fantastic experience here. The stylist replicated the exact design I wanted. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. Convenient location and a calming environment. I paid $76 for a full set with cloud designs on all nails, plus mini rhinestones. Very competitive prices, especially compared to the other nail salons in Minneapolis. Another salon in the area gave me a quote of over $120 for this exact design, so I'm very happy with my decision to come to Express Nails instead. I asked her to make the clouds more messy and natural looking instead of clean-cut bubble clouds. Very happy with the outcome. The only thing I think could improve is that the glue she used to stick the rhinestones with is a bit visible (as you can see in the pictures.) Otherwise I love my fierce claws! Terrible service. My sister and I went after I had my baby for mani pedis. My sister said her toe hurt after because the woman was digging around. Then next morning her nail was bleeding. She went back to Chicago and later her nail fell off. My 'no chip mani' lasted one day. I told them I couldn't come back in right away because I had a newborn. This place has very low star ratings and so I was hesitant to go here. However I was also desperate to get my nails removed as I had some acrylic gel nails on for about a month. Typically I remove my own nails by biting them off, I know this is bad method. The only reason I didn't bite then off this time is because I recently got my wisdom teeth removed and didn't want to do anything to affect the healing process of that. I made an appointment at the salon and it's really quick and easy as they prefer appointments, but also take walk-ins. At first the method was normal they cut off my nails down to certain length as they were pretty long (you can refer to previous review of what my nails look like). Then they pulled out white acrylic nails and the nail technician used that to peel off my nails. I kid you not, they literally took the acrylic dug it between my natural nails and the acrylic nails too kind of peel it off. Their method is to peel it off. Of course it hurt and so they presser down right after they peeled to relieve the pressure. Then I asked them if that's normally how nails are removed as I have never done it professionally and they said yes. It seemed very off to me and so I was like okay... I only paid $5 a hand to get it removed. Later that day I went home to research how to take off acrylic nails properly, typically you cut them down then you soak them in acetone and scrape them off but that did not happen at the salon. I really wanted to give this salon a chance, but it just didn't happen. I will also mention that once they were done getting my acrylic nails off, the nail technician grabbed nail glue and started putting nail glue on where my nails are peeling off. They buffed a little bit here and there and filed. Then I asked the nail technician to stop because I was done and over it and said I would buff and file them when I get home. To be honest, I could have just did it myself especially because of their technique to remove my acrylic nails. They didn't give me any cuticle oils or any like things to help the process for my nails. I will say they are very friendly. They said they get very busy although they didn't seem very busy. In terms of cleanliness, there were nail clippings from previous acrylic nails that were still on the ground including mine. It was just not clean it all. I don't think I'd ever go back to this place for service. I genuinely wanted to give this place a chance and even with something so small they were very disappointing. I'm really happy that I decided to not get my nails done here for a wedding back in early June. I guess you really do get what you pay for. On a positive note, it was cool that they had little diagrams of different nail shapes so you can kind of see what you want. read more

My girlfriend went into this salon. Here is her review: I was recommended by a friend to go to this salon. When I walked in, I was greeted. I didn't set up an appointment and it was great to have someone available to do my nails.I wanted french manicure acrylic. When I sat down, I had someone working on my nails already. Nothing said or anything. She was working on my nails trimming and filing. It was great until I notice how sloppy she was doing to my nails. My nails were trimmed and they were slanted. There were some cut and some that weren't. I stopped and asked her to trim the rest of my nails correctly. She glanced at it and told me not to worry that it was going to be fixed in the end. So I trust her as I thought she was doing her job. She put acrylic on my nails and trimming them to what she wanted. After the acrylics were put on, she asked me what color did I want. I was confused. I told her that I came in for french manicure acrylics. At this time, she tried to fix the damage by stating that I should have stated that I wanted french manicure, now the only thing that she can do was paint the tip white. So she painted my tips white. This process took awhile as I noticed that many of the white tips were out of shape, the nails were crooked, some of my nails were square and then round on the edge, and some nails were short while others were long. I told her I didn't like it, and here is where I have problems with. She stated that she worked as a nail stylist for 10 years. She did a "great job" on my nails. I can ask anyone and ask my friend whom I came with. She stated that she was going to charge me $35, because she painted my tips. When I sat down, she did not confirm with me what my choice was. She did it to her liking as she stated when I told her that I didn't like the result. Many of the responses I got from her were she thinks my nails are perfect and she thinks I'm overreacting. I responded to her comments stating that it comes down to if I like the nails or not. It is not her choice to tell me what I like or what I don't like. I decided to talk to another employee and he stated that since I didn't say at the start that I wanted french manicure, there's nothing that he can do. And if I wanted to take it off, it'll take awhile. In the end, I gave up and paid for their service. They wanted money for their business and instead of providing great service to their customers. I didn't get a refund or anything. I paid $31 for my messed up nails. Check out some of the pictures. The gel, super glue, and etc were stuck to my skin and she didn't bother to get it off. I don't have a great camera, and can't see there are bubbles on my nails and a lot of smearing from the white tips. read more

I'm so frustrated at the fact that it did not last which I expected it to for at least 2 weeks.
