I just started driving in DC, now that my car recently arrived from Southern California. I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to find a car wash that could provide the same quality services as the car washes in Los Angeles. However, after passing by Express Car Wash, I decided to check it out! Unlike some other car washes I've seen in the DC area, Express Car Wash has nice big signs, clearly printed prices for their washes, and an organized set up where you drive up to the vacuum station, get your ticket and pay inside, and then wait in the waiting area for your car to go through the automated wash and get towel dried. The concept was very similar to what I had experienced on the west coast. The initial line was long, but I didn't mind. It was a weekend and there's only one lane there -- so make sure you have time on your hands when you go on weekends or other peak times! I found the customer service to be good. The woman behind the cashier counter was quick and efficient, and after my car came through the automated wash, I was handed my car keys to hang on to while the staff finished wiping my car down. The whole experience from waiting in the car line to exiting the facility took about 30-40 minutes, which I thought was fine and comparable to the full service car washes in Los Angeles. I hadn't gotten my car washed since it made the cross country trip from California a few weeks ago, so it had a lot of dirt and bugs on it. The actual car wash itself was pretty good. My car was clean and shiny, and I was pleased overall with the final result! I will definitely come back again when it's time for my next car wash. The worst car wash experience I have ever had. Just visited today 12/04/22, They charged me 24 dollars to sprinkle my car and did not clean anything. I know my car is older but this doesn't mean he should just charge me and refuse to clean it. When I asked for my money back he started shouting at me. This guy should not be in business. Go spend at least $100 (probably $200 for a job well done) and stop complaining that a simple car wash didn't make your car look like it had just been waxed and polished. 2. My car was damaged in this car wash. When the car came out, it had a scratch along the left side along the door. I spoke to the manger about it, and he said the scratch had been there before the car was washed. That was not true. He turned his back and walked away from me while I was talking to him. For the price you can't beat this place. Right off Georgia Ave, you can get a full wash, inside and out for less than $15. The trick is to avoid weekends, right after a snow the line can often snake down the street and can take 1-1.5 hours to get in and out. Try to go on a weekday if possible. With the deluxe wash (the most expensive at $22) they will actually take your rubber car mats out and wash them. In the winter that's a huge relief after a few snows and dirt have accumulated. Updating 10/15/16. I am certain that the scratches came from their car wash. After getting washed today, I saw scratches that stood out like a sore thumb. All over the drivers side and on the roof of my car. The scratches look like something was stuck in the cloth or brushes. (This is the only place that I have gone to for a wash). The manager whom I assume is the owner told me (without even looking) that they were there before and I didn't know. If they were on the passenger side, sure. I hardly ever go on that side of my car. But the side that I get in and look at every day. I'd know if there were this many scratches. I am so disappointed and now my new car is all scratched up. I will never go back and I suggest that you don't either. Unless you like scratches, of course. Fast car wash with vacuum and hand dry for under $20. My only concern is that I think I had a scratch on my new car after a wash. I'm not 100% sure if it came from them, but I suspect it because I didn't notice it before and immediately noticed it after the wash. It's near my door handle and looks like a key scratch. This is telling to me because I don't need the key to open the door, so I just leave it in my bag. I never take it out. But I'm not sure, so I've been back without any other issues. read more

This car wash is just south of Missouri on Georgia, still inside the District, but not far from Silver Spring. I've been here several times, and they've always done a decent job with my car. This is the kind of place where you get out and walk through the building, while your car gets vacuumed and then goes through the wash on the automated tracks. I love watching the car go through :-) It's not as fancy as those that have the flashing lights and signs that say "Undercarriage Rust Inhibitor" and "Now Applying Turtle Wax!!!". But you can still see your car go through, and watch soap get squirted around. The sign said "brushless", but I swear I saw brushes inside. The guys at the finish line were thorough -- my windows were sparkly inside and out. I left them a decent tip. Great alternative if you don't feel like waiting in the 2-hour line at the place on Connecticut. read more

This place is pretty damn ghetto just like everything else in Petworth. The waiting area consist of plastic folding chairs outside and the counter is behind the ubiquitous bulletproof glass. One of my favorite thing about going through the car wash is is that you get to see your car being watched, however is this place has two glass facing THE OPPOSITE way. Despite all this, this place delivers a pretty solid car wash. Like other reviewers has mentioned this place does take quite a bit of time in order to deliver your car(20 mintutes on an average busy day). The the washing part of it doesn't take that long ,it's the drying part of it that really eats up the time. I can't really complain because they are taking their time and making sure they do a good job. Every window was spotless and streak-free and their armor all is straight flossing. This place is pretty cheap compared to the other places around the area. For 17 bucks I got my car vacuumed, the interior brushed, the car washed, and tires amor alled. I would have given this 5 stars accept that this place is ultra ghetto and their "full detail" it's misleading. This place does not offer hand waxing. After yet another lack luster car wash I realized my new pack of chewing gum was missing from the console. Yes, my gum was stolen

I have been going to this car wash for a few years now and chose it based on location (close to home), pricing (cheaper than most car washes in the area), and attention to detail. However, my recent experiences have me convinced that they should offer car petting rather than actual cleaning. The last time I used their service, I waited in line for an hour. I would have turned off my engine, if it weren't for a lady guiding the cars outside of the car wash that shouted at me every time I turned it off to move ahead, despite having barely a few inches of space between myself and the other cars. When I arrived at the drop-off point, I asked the two men vacuuming to please focus on the back seat, as I have a hairy dog and my decision to wash my car was mainly to clean the interior of dog hair. I went to pay inside and it cost me about $20 for the overall wash with tip and a stamp on my discount card for one free wash after 20 uses. After receiving my car, the first problem I noticed was the big stain of bird shit on the right passenger side door. I looked at my back seat and it was still covered in dog hair. The only part of my interior that looked vacuumed were the mats. My board was dusty, the right panel had the same coffee stains from a month ago, and the area in-between my seats where the stick shift is located was covered in dog hair. When I asked one of the workers to look at the problems with the cleanup, he brushed me off and went to work on another car. I asked another worker to look at the mess, and while the second guy acknowledged them, he told me I need to get back in line if I want them to clean anything. After looking at the one-hour wait ahead of me and the possibility of being charged twice for a decent cleanup, I cursed them out in my mind and decided to go home and clean the car myself. They can keep my tip, but I'm taking my service elsewhere. read more

I signed up for Yelp to do this review. $200 car wash!? Robbed!! I just simply wouldn't go here because the owner is a complete jerk, don't support this business if you can help it. This place is terrible, I had a valuable Bose speaker stolen from the back of my SUV. They also did a crappy job, there was tons of visible dirt inside the back and it smelled like sour mildew towels in my car. I was traveling around for the summer and I did my best to remove all my small valuables, but the speaker was in the back and I missed it. Two days later when I found it was missing, I went in to report it to the owner. And he YELLED AT ME in front of people! He just said "NO!!" "YOU DON'T KNOW" He wouldn't even give me a refund for my wash. Well, I had a Bose Bluetooth speaker in the back of my car before I went there, and now I don't! And absolutely no one else had access to my vehicle. I actually took a photo while it was being dried that day because I was excited to get my new car washed for the first time....UGH!! Took my new car here for its first wash and the wash was really bad! I paid for the superwash and looked forward to seeing my car go through the wash, but was really disappointed when I noticed the hallway glass is treated so you can't see the car going through the wash. I asked the cashier how I could see what was happening to the car and she ignored the question. Another customer informed me that there were little lines on the glass that you could see through, but even these were blacked out. After the car was finished being wiped down, there were still dirt stains on the car -- I'm not sure I got a complete wash when it went through the tunnel. The reason for the review: if you are going to tip, do not leave money in the cash box. The owner will just take that money. I discovered Express while driving down Georgia Avenue in 2015 after seeing the long lines for a few weeks. I bring my 2003 Honda CRV about once every four months, and they have been consistently amazing! I have two dogs with short white hair and there is nothing on my cloth seats after it has been cleaned. One time, they even found my driver's license which I had lost in my car a year earlier. Nicely placed it on the dash for me so I tipped $20 that day. This place has been reliably great for me and I will continue to go out of my way to support this small business. Then, the guys wiping of my car had an attitude when I asked them to *properly* wipe off my wheels and numerous spots on the car that retained dirt. When I informed the "manager," he said that the scratch was already there. Not only was the "manager" rude and disrespectful, but he also kept arguing with me as if I was wrong. This has to be the worst car wash in DC. We bought a new car last month and I took it here on a Saturday morning to get it washed. When it comes out of the car wash everything looks ok, although there was still soap on the car. I was fooled by the immediate gloss and didn't give the car a once over before I left. When I got home I noticed several deep, circular scratches below the door. I drove back to the car wash and pointed out the scratches and got nothing but denials from the manager. I asked to speak to the owner, who happened to be there but she basically refused to speak to me. The manager tried to convince me that he inspects each car after the wash, which was a flat out lie. I squeezed in a visit here one Sunday afternoon right before they closed. They did a great job of vacuuming and washing the car. More than a week later their tire treatment still has them looking like. The place is not much to look at but they'll have your car looking great! I think that I spent around $15-$17 for the middle of the road option (adds the undercarriage and tire cleaner). All in all it was a good experience and I'll be back. read more

I ordered a Book of coupons since it is in the neighborhood and finally used them all. WILL NOT GO BACK. I get SUPER wash since I like very clean rims. 1. I always have to use my product, have them go over again. 2. When I talk to mgmt - they are RUDE -I mean VERY RUDE to me. Just to get them to speak with me about their product is an issue. DO NOT TAKE UR CARE HERE!!! Worst car wash and scratched up the side of my car so bad I had to put a claim in with my insurance to repair the car. The scratches are a result of the guys trying to rub small dried up pieces of cement off my car. In doing so they caused three large areas of scratches. The car was only two months old. When I took the car back to show the manager/owner (Asian guy) he flipped out yelling and stormed off. I wasn't even angry because I know accidents happen. I'm more upset about the way he behaved when I showed him. My insurance company is now going after them for the money. The place is bad business. This really isn't a very good car wash. I paid $25 and the interior vacuuming was poorly done and there was still dust and crumbs in the seat. I told the owner/manager and he said I could get back in line for another vacuuming but that would have turned a 40 min car wash into an hour fifteen. This place is disgusting. Same comments as everyone else. They are only concerned with getting your money and providing shabby service. They refuse to expend the necessary effort on spot removal, even when you point out the spot. The owner is quick to shout at you and shake his head. Their main concern is getting as many cars through the door as they can, without really caring about the quality of their work.
