The gentlemen came all the way out here to charge me $400 and then told me that he knew somebody but they wouldn't come out here and they don't do regulators clearly yesterday and the text messages. It was a waste of my time. Part of it was already taken apart. All he had to do is get a pulley off and the plastic cover and put the new belt on and put it all together halfway done. I paid $95.00 just for them to "inspect" the vehicle before doing any work... when I paid for the "inspection" the printout didn't give me a rundown of what they "inspected" or found. It was simply a receipt for a $95 inspection. I found Rob to be lacking in customer service and defensive when I noted there was no detail on the paper printout. And did not rectify. This morning, both of our cars had their oil changed, and in addition, I requested for a brake inspection as my brakes have been making squeaking noises. One of the mechanics told me that the brakes were all in a good condition, and the noise was probably caused by the non-ceramic pads, and so nothing needed to be done. The visit, for both the oil change and the brake inspection, was straightforward, quick, and easy. Also, during our visit, in this COVID time, all staff members wore face coverings, and when they didn't, they maintained a reasonable physical distance from us, which I appreciated. I'm revising my prior review. Upon reflection, my own anxiety at having a broken car is probably affecting my outlook and interactions more than I would prefer. And I'm beginning to realize the red flags I've seen with this mechanic are probably just simple miscommunications. Positive: This place is fast. Their prices are in the neighborhood of reasonable - at least when it comes to mechanics. They reach out to make things right when there's a miscommunication. Negatives: I did have to engage in more back and forth vis-a-vis the correct frequency of oil changes than I would have liked. They argued that the duration was 5,000 miles when my owner's manual and the dealership clearly state 10,000 miles. The 2-year or 24,000 mile warranty apparently has some limitations. We had our brakes replaced less than 2 years and 5,000 miles ago because of some vibrations when coming down I-70. Now, we're experiencing the same problem, which I suspect is a Toyota-specific issue. I called to get more details on the prior service so I could rule out common things like bad rotors and to find out if they could make some modification to the extension pad per a Toyota TSB to prevent this from recurring. They said no and I didn't respond well to my disappointment. (Sorry about that dude!) When I asked about the warranty, I was told it only applied to pads not rotors, which felt like a brush off. Honestly, I don't think it even matters if they can't make that modification per the TSB. But they really should list those limitations on the invoice for future reference. read more

Had a car with no heat for years, but didn't fix it because we lived in Florida and the Arizona. Upon moving to Colorado, I figured it was time to fix it. Tried doing limited troubleshooting due to living in an apartment and having no space to tear anything apart. Figured it was the heater core. Ended up causing a coolant leak. Searched Yelp for a respectable shop and found one with raving reviews. Called them and they were booked out for weeks so they referred me to Express Car Care nearby. Express was able to get me in within a few days and it took a few more days to fix the issue. The leak ended up being in the heater core (as suspected) and replacing the heater core also fixed the heat. Everyone at Express Car Care was very patient with all my questions about what they did and what they saw. As a female it's hard to come across that. Most mechanics immediately dismiss me as not knowing anything about car. Though I may not be a mechanic, I'm a pilot and understand pretty in-depth how all the systems work, which helps me also understand cars. (Meaning: don't assume I don't know because I'm a female.) Even month later (as it started getting cold) they took at look at the car without a charge when my wife complained about the heat not getting hot enough. They took a look and fit me in in a timely manner. Usually my dad and I just fix all my car issues ourselves but with in living in another state, some things I'm unable to do. Express is a company I'd trust with both my cars. I've never dealt with an honest mechanic like them. The reasons for the 5 stars: 1) Got me in quick 2) Finished I'm a timely manner 3) Gave me respect and didn't treat me like an idiot 4) Everyone was friendly and patient 5) They were extremely accommodating with my work schedule 6) They didn't try to scam me into anything I didn't need 7) They sent a thank you note to my house (which is very impressing for me) 8) Month later they took another look at the heater due to my wife complaining about the heat getting hot enough now. 9) HONEST read more

Just before lunch time (11am) on a Monday I called 4 nearby garages and Express Car Care was the only one who could fit me in right away. They gave me a 20-25 minute time estimate and I walked out the door 30 minutes after I walked in. The servicemen were friendly prices were comparable and my favorite part, they didn't try to upsell me on anything. The waiting area was clean with coffee, tv and magazines. Also replaced my cabin air filter two weeks before bringing in my car and they tell me I need a new one... dishonest and greedy, go elsewhere. Called them the day before and asked if I could come in, have them check out some leaks the car had and receive an estimate (didnt know the protocol and didnt want to just show up and be turned away). The gentleman I spoke to said "yes come in anytime tomorrow, mornings are less busy". Came in the following day (Today), around 230-3pm and explained that I wasn't able to make it in the morning, but am here now & was wondering what could be done (expecting them to tell me they could possibly still just take a look or schedule me for another time). I wasnt expecting or asking for it to be fixed that day or even the following day for that matter, I was well prepped to be without my car for at least a week. The man at the front proceeds to tell me that I "missed my appointment and there's nothing that can be done", that he cant see me for several weeks as there is only one person who works on Volkswagens & he's going on vacation. Point blank. & Said bye to me. I then wonder why they told me to come in today if there is no one there who knows about Volkswagens and why the gentlemen I spoke to was so quick to want to get rid of me instead of trying to reschedule me for when the Volkswagen expert is back; Regardless, the lack of customer service skills was enough for me to obviously leave and tell him not to worry about it. They did me a favor, went down the street and found a MUCH better place that was actually interested in gaining new buisness and scheduled me tp come back a week from noq. Perfect. Found Express Car Care on Yelp when my car was needing some serious love! Stopped in with no appointment on a Friday afternoon and they got me in right away. This is totally an old school shop--no bells or whistles or complimentary coffee or TVs, just an old Coke machine and classic rock on the radio. They confirmed they could do all the things my Nissan Rogue needed--an oil change, new wiper fluid, and a new head light, to be exact. I hung out in the lobby while they got straight to work--there aren't a ton of places nearby to grab coffee or hang out, although you could walk a few blocks over to Colorado if you had a super long wait. The gentleman who I was working with came back in to let me know that my headlights had a bit of a film on them, making my lights less bright than they could be. He told me it would be $400 to replace the plastic on both headlights or he could buff them for about $60 a pop. I have no idea if that was a good deal or not, but I went for it and I do think the lights seem brighter. They wrapped up all of the services within about 45 minutes and the grand total was $150. Squeak...screech...squeak. That was the sounds of the brakes on our truck when we realized that we should probably take it in to have it looked at. Our first thought was to take it to the Ford dealer down the road, but my boyfriend had been to Express Car Care for an oil change and a few other services about a month before, so figured we'd take it back there. The oil change process was very straightforward and the prices were right. While he was there, they suggested a few other services. They didn't pressure the additional services, but we knew the truck needed them, so decided to move forward with power steering fluid and one other thing (I can't remember at this time). Service was quick and we've had no problems since. Fast forward to the brake issue, and we called early on a Thursday morning. They could look at the truck that morning, phew! There was a small diagnostic fee to figure out what was causing all the sounds, but that could be applied towards the fix should we choose to move forward. Turns out the brakes had been neglected for a while and we needed pretty much everything to be re-done. Although unfortunate, it wasn't surprising as we bought the truck used and drive it a lot. After discussion, they were able to start work right away that morning and we had the vehicle back that afternoon. The price felt right and we were happy they could fit us in right away. No more squeaks or screeches, and my boyfriend says everything feels brand new. I'm glad we took it in to get fixed - I feel much better with him driving a vehicle with working brakes! Surprise car repairs are never fun (or cheap), but the team at Express Car Care made it a pleasant experience. The location is super convenient for the Virginia Village neighborhood - we can drop our vehicle off and walk home while we wait! We will definitely be bringing out vehicles here for future service.
