I made an appointment on Friday (8/11/17) for an oil change on Monday morning (8/14/17) at 8am- with the woman on the phone confirming I was the first oil change of the day. Thinking that since I arrived a couple minutes early and was told I would be the first oil change of the day, I would be out of there in no time. When checking in for my appointment, I confirmed with Steve that all of my tires be put at a specific tire pressure. After waiting until 9:10 am (over an hour later) I was called that my car was ready. I reconfirmed with the woman checking me out that my tires had been checked and put at the specific PSI I requested at drop off. After she confirmed with Steve that they had been, I walked out to my car and used my digital tire pressure reader to double check that all of my tires had air added to them since my sensors are bad so my "check tire" light is always on. All of my tire pressure readings were coming up low and at different numbers- clearly air had not been added like requested and confirmed. Now, almost an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment I am still at Express Auto Center with the owner explaining to me that the man working on my car is new and did not know to check the tire pressures with oil changes. This concerns me for a couple of reasons- when I checked in with Steve, he should have communicated with the mechanic working on my car the specific PSI that I requested so even if the new guy "forgets" he should have definitely done it for mine, unless the owner never even told the mechanic what I requested? Also, what mechanic does not know to check the tire pressure with a routine oil change when it is included in the service? If you are new, have a cheat sheet with you so you do not forget simple, yet important, steps of your job? Was he not trained correctly? If this man cannot remember to check tire pressures, how do I know he knows how to properly change oil? This is not a mistaken food order, or miscommunicated haircut, this is who knows how many errors on a vehicle that is my transportation- which is extremely important to me. How many other mistakes did he make on my vehicle or on previous vehicles he has worked on? I was given a gift card for my troubles which instead, the amount should have been taken off of my bill since of course the card went into the trash. I would never give someone a gift card or recommend an auto shop that hires mechanics that do not know how to simply do a routine oil change. Sure, people make mistakes, but taking over an hour and a half for a scheduled oil change and careless mistakes on my vehicle are not okay in my book. If you have gotten your car serviced here recently, I would seriously consider getting a second opinion on the work they did. read more

Mixed feelings review. Express Auto Center, I would think, would be best for people who have cars on the nicer side and money to pay for all the repairs. That might sound silly but some of us have to try to make do with what we got w/ our good old clunkers. As long as my car is safe and it runs I don't care if it's duct tape holding it together. I didn't know my car had ran out of brake fluid because of a very slow leak in the master cylinder, and I brought my car to Express Auto Center to try to figure out what was wrong with it. My engine was freaking out from the problem and I just needed to know if it was fixable. Being a single young white female (new to the area) with an older car that needs to be replaced (one of these days), I usually get a lot of crap from mechanics. Mechanics are usually trying to sell me things I don't need and overcharging me for labor and such. The language that the owner at Express Auto Center used to explain to me the problems was that of a mathematician explaining to a high school student some formula (plus the southern accent). It's pretty obvious I only had a very surface understanding of the situation. So, when I found out from a friend's boyfriend that literally I had just ran out of brake fluid and I needed to get the spark plugs and coil packs looked at just in case they'd went- and that was it, in common flat out language- I was infuriated! I lost my cool with the receptionist and refused service while on the phone with Express Auto Center. I think I cried. They still wanted to make me pay $80 something for just hooking it up to the computer to diagnose it but I had carried on like such a baby that when I went to pick up my car they cut that price in half to appease me. I had found out that the leak was slow enough to just refill the brake fluid and check it (i've only had to refill about an inch in 6 months). A neighbor changed my plugs in exchange for dinner, so it didn't cost a small fortune to do (because my engine you have to reach behind or something??). Then that issue was fixed. The man at Express Auto Center was really nice after my meltdown and he showed me where to fill the brake fluid- it was appreciated. He also told me that I shouldn't put any money into my car because the underside was rusted out from the New England winters. I had a couple other mechanics tell me that too, all in the southern states, never one in the northern as my rusty car is actually pretty normal up here. I continue to get holiday cards from Express Auto Center and also I was given an invitation to bring any car over to the shop so they can look at it for me before I buy it. If I was an older more responsible person with a nice car and a good job I would gladly bring my car back to Express Auto Center. They dealt with my immature flipping out like experts. They are nice and they seem like they would only do things the "right" way. However, I would like it if they would have explained problems to me more effectively. read more

i wish id checked yelp before going to this place advertised in my hotel! it took them almost two hours to do an oil change!! supposedly because they had to change a screw! wow that takes two hours?!? then they said the screw might not work later and id have to come back! oh he was also super super slow about just getting the price for a darn oil change!! i wanted to bite the mans head off by then! so far, it seems to be working ok. apparently, im glad i dont live in va bc they require everyone to get a state inspection here and also wait two hours. its like the state has turned the mechanic shops into darn DMV /GOVERNMENT OFFICES WITH LOOONG WAIT TIMES. sure they had tea and snacks/tv in the waiting room. but if i have to wait two hours, i want also a bed and an asian massuese!! read more

As good as it gets and even better! Had a problem with our inboard boat and was told it would be 3 weeks before we could get our boat into a boat repair shop. Not good when the boating season is upon us! Called Express Auto and Junior took GREAT care of us! Gave our boat a head to toe check up and repaired the issue.
