The team was responsive, professional, and easy to work with throughout the process. The craftsmanship was exceptional -- from perfectly aligned seams to a flawless waterfall edge and apron sink detail. The quality, precision, and overall care put into the installation truly exceeded our expectations. We're thrilled with the results and highly recommend this company for anyone looking for beautiful, well-executed stonework.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Northwest Granite has been extremely…read moredisappointing from start to finish. Communication was awful at every level. Any time I raised concerns with the project managers, they were quick to blame me for delays and became defensive and aggressive instead of listening. At no point did anyone take ownership of the issues I was experiencing--I felt constantly questioned, doubted, and talked down to. The demolition crew that removed my old countertops was careless and unprofessional. They never put down any protection on my brand-new floors, and while breaking apart the old stone they crushed pieces of countertop into the flooring, damaging several areas. They also punched a hole in a wall I had just repaired and said nothing--no acknowledgment, no apology, just left it for me to find later. On top of that, they left sharp broken pieces of stone inside the cabinets, on the floors, in adjoining rooms, and even in the driveway. It felt like a rushed job with zero regard for housekeeping, safety, or respect for my home. When it came time to measure for the new countertop, they incorrectly measured the area next to the refrigerator. The new top was cut too wide and is now pushing the cabinet panel out, leaving about a 1/4" gap. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, they tried to blame me--saying it was already like that or that the cabinet panel was warped--and spoke to me as if I couldn't see the obvious issue. I waited weeks to hear what the next steps would be, but no one followed up. I always had to call or show up in person to get any kind of response from project managers or sales. The finished product is also poor quality. The seam is bad enough that I can catch a fingernail on it, and the edge looks rough and under-polished. Overall, this feels like a "fast and cheap" operation geared toward large apartment jobs or quick flips--not homeowners who care about quality and detail. If you value craftsmanship, clear communication, and simply getting what you paid for without having to fight for it, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. I regret giving them my business, and by the end I was just willing to accept whatever got me out of dealing with them any longer. I would not recommend Northwest Granite to anyone.

We will tell the world not to use River City Solid Surfaces. We have a custom designed alcove in…read moreour new addition area. We used Home Depot to purchase custom cabinets and to order stone for countertops. There are several reasons why this company earns negative ratings and I hope that many heed my advise, because I wished I had checked here first before going with them. First, we chose our stone similarly like we did on a previous project (our master bathroom). We liked the stone we purchased from HD before, that we decided to go back and get a similar stone. However, the stone we picked looked NOTHING LIKE the samples and I called both RCSS and HD about this but they stated it was the same name. I told them it looks nothing like what I ordered or the sample. Upon going back into HD 28 days after purchase, the stone samples were gone and no longer available. Second, River City sent a template guy out to our home to measure. We had specific requirements for our bar sink and related / emphasized to the technician that the bar sink had to be in a specific location due to the cabinet style and required countertop spacing above it. We physically showed, held the sink in place and asked the tech if we needed to install a brace in the middle of cabinet in order for the sink to be placed left of center. He said no. Three weeks go by and the installers showed up with our custom countertop (over 180" length) and mounting brackets for the sink. I noticed it was in the wrong space and asked the installers to move the brackets to the space we indicated. The cutout of sink in the counter top was incorrect. The tech did not measure left of center. Rather on center of cabinet. Furthermore, the countertop was not correct in stone style. River city stated too bad and that if we wanted it changed we would have to pay an addition fee upwards of $500-1000 above the already $2k we paid. I told them it was not our fault but they wouldn't listen. Lastly, the installers for RCSS stated on install day that the template tech has made several mistakes in the past and that we were not the only ones having issues. River city was not willing to work with us. And they basically stated that the technician measured to center which we signed off on. My husband and I both stated that there was no indication on the rough draft sketch that it was in center of the cabinet - that the draft only had measurements which we didn't triple check because we held the sink in its place to be installed and the tech saw where that was. Needless to say, they are making us EAT THE MONEY- as this huge long 180 inch custom countertop which is NOT what we ordered will be dumped. I can't see anyone wanting it. On a final note, I am uploading photos of what we purchased and what was brought to us. You will see the difference. AND, you can't install a hole for a sink where it won't fit. The cabinets were installed before the template made as required. And it's clear the sink doesn't go there based on our cabinet. It HAD to be n the left side of cabinet left of center because if the cabinet pull out. Also, went back to HD to take a picture of the larger sample to show the designer Manager how they don't look the same (28 days after purchase) it was pulled from the sample wall and from the drawers. No where to be found. It's not even in there system. DONT EVER TRUST A BUSINESS WHERE THEY MAKE THEIR MISTAKE THE CUSTOMERS PROBLEM. Angelina, the rep at RCSS was also very unhelpful and rude. I can't say how disappointing it was working with this company. The only positive to say was their two installer guys were nice and sympathetic about the incident.

For me, the true test of a company within the construction industry is how they deal with issues…read morethat arise when things don't go perfectly. The short version of this review is that this company, Coveted Coverings (CC), responded when the floor was not completely covered and finished due to fickle nature of dealing with epoxy floors. They had to come back to the job site after thinking all was finished, and apply a totally new surface coat, through a complicated (and expensive!) process to make sure the new surface adheres to the previous. The point is that they came back, redid the surface coat, and left us with a very nice floor--exactly what we wanted. This costed them time and money, since they did not charge us for the final coat. From our perspective, you can trust these guys to do the right thing, and leave you with a high-quality result. Not only that, but they are friendly and easy to work with. For those who prefer more detail, this is what happened at our house. We agreed to do a flake floor on a wooden subfloor (plywood) that had lots of gross imperfections, from the screw/nail holes to the butt joints and other cracks. All the imperfections had to be filled with an epoxy paste. Then they do the main epoxy layer that they added just enough to fill in some of the worst dips in the floor, followed by the flake layer, ending with the surface coat. The CC guys showed up when they said they would, were professional throughout and the first few layers went great. They took a severely flawed subfloor and made it such that we couldn't tell. The problem arose in the top coat: they ran out of epoxy just before the end of the floor. Ninety percent was done, but the last few feet just didn't get covered right. This was after they showed up with 15-20% extra epoxy to make sure this doesn't happen. As an aside, one of the things I appreciate the most from this process, is that I learned quite a bit about epoxy flooring from these guys. They were patient with all my annoying questions, basically teaching me what I didn't know. I had been fooling around with epoxy for a while, and thought I knew how to do what they were doing. In fact, when they gave me the quote for the project, it was more expensive than I expected and I thought we could do it ourselves, since I was now such an expert in Epoxy (yeah, right). Watching them closely and asking questions, I learned just how much I didn't know, and suitably humbled, I have gained a much deeper appreciation for what has to be done. One of the things I learned is that it is very difficult to get the quantities right, and just buying (and charging the customer) way more, has its own set of problems (like how do you store the extra, what conditions does it require, how soon does it degrade, etc). Apparently this is especially true for wood floors, where the absorption rate and imperfections vary so widely. So, it's completely understandable that they ran out of epoxy, despite their expertise and planning. Once they took a look at the unfinished floor, they didn't argue, and simply went through the process of planning and executing the final coat (again). They had to go through the process of abrading (sanding, basically) the now-cured surface, using some chemical processes to further prepare the surface for bonding with the new surface coat, and finally applying the new layer. This took a full day, and they had to buy all the materials and soak up the time. They did all this without complaint or issue, and did not charge a cent more than we had already agreed upon. I felt a bit bad that they had to take a loss and tried to pay them more, but they refused. Exceedingly rare for construction firms these days. Bottom line: I trust these guys, and got to see firsthand how epoxy floors can be done right. In hindsight, the price was not too high--it was my ignorance and assumptions that made it seem so. To be fair, they were not the lowest bid (nor were they the highest), but they aren't greedy and are building their business the right way: by doing good work at a fair price and taking full responsibility for what they promise. I can't point to many other outfits we've hired to do construction related projects that take the care that they showed.
