Derek is the best of the best. Used to work on my old B5 Audi A4 1.8T that was chipped. Took that car to 200k miles. Live in California now, but en route on a road trip had a coolant leak and needed an oil change. Brought my current car - Audi A5 3.2L Exclusiv explained the the issue, fixed the issue, gave a run-down on recommended maintenance and they use Motul oil which is the best - car runs much better then the Castrol oil the dealership uses. Finally a honest repair shop that does excellent work! My EOS needed its 60k. They weren't a lot cheaper than the dealer, but $60 is still $60. It had to do with the supplies and parts. Sounded reasonable. So I took it in. They had it done on time. All was well. There was not the dealer approach of "all the things they could think of to suggest" I appreciated that. Fast forward. I noticed an occasional lag in exceleration. Called them. They offered to work on it on a Friday afternoon. Wow! Service! I could wait til the next week so didn't accept them working late on a Fri night but I sure appreciated the offer. discovered a piston failing. They fixed it at much less than the dealer and my car is driving like new. Very impressed with the honesty, professionalism and quality of work. read more

(Note: this happened a while ago, 2015. I am posting this review late b/c it took some time to sort out the mess and I didn't want to speak without all the facts.) I had Derek Scott do a large project to transform my damaged VW R32 (hole in transmission, some cosmetic damage) into a track car, and while he talks a good game, the project was a total disaster. These were the repairs + upgrades to be done: * rebuild transmission, replace case, install steel shift forks * install HPA intercooled turbo kit * select + install matching clutch * select + install matching water/methanol kit * install bucket seats * install oil pressure + temperature gauges * install front LSD, install new coilovers, install skid plate A comprehensive (and expensive) upgrade list, with high quality components. After estimating "6 weeks" to get everything done, it took OVER A YEAR for me to get the car back, while I had to constantly apply pressure to see any kind of progress. When I finally received the vehicle back, it had the following issues: * leaking engine oil, transmission oil, and water/methanol mix * slipping clutch * popping out of gear (mostly 3rd, sometimes others) * boost not tuned ("that's your job") * rough idle, "bucking" under boost * electrical issue (car lost all electrics on Freeway - not even hazards worked) * oil temp gauge cut out intermittently Derek fixed the w/m leak, re-torqued the clutch, and fixed the electrical issue, then he "retired". The car kept destroying clutches, popping out of gear, and leaking oils, therefore I had it taken COMPLETELY apart at another shop. Here is the final diagnosis of what Derek (Jeff did the transmission I believe) did wrong (these are not my opinions, but statements from the people that fixed the various issues): Transmission * "frankensteined" together by using/machining a mis-matched case * some detents missing (reason for popping out of gear, and the trans leaks) * some races not properly pressed, transmission was under tension * steel shift forks NOT installed (that's plain fraud, I paid almost $400 for these) Clutch * glazed (looks like rough "test drives"), and not torqued down properly * too weak for the torque the engine makes Engine * used "gasket maker" to stop oil leaks from head * used incorrect sealant on the transmission side * timing was off by one link * installed seal at exhaust manifold where HPA's kit doesn't need/have one * incorrect water/methanol setup, causing the "bucking" under boost Other * bucket seats were screwed in with "standard" instead of metric screws THE SEATS WOULD HAVE COME LOOSE IN AN ACCIDENT * oil temp sensor was set up incorrectly so it wasn't always submerged The whole mess cost me around $10k to correct(new transmission, several clutches, head job, new water/methanol setup, new gauges, plus all the labor at a reputable shop). I won't let Derek come near any of my vehicles ever again. read more

I have an Audi A4 and I will not let anyone touch it but Derek. Always a straight shooter, I've never felt like he did something that was unnecessary or excessive. Derek and Exklusive stand out as an honest, highly skilled, and trustworthy and the reason I will only buy VW/Audi vehicles in the future. He has saved me a ton of money, not just over dealer prices, but because he is an expert in all things VW/Audi. Did you know that the OEM diverter valve can be purchased straight from the manufacturer without the Audi markup? I didn't but Derek did, and he passed that savings on to me. Did you know that the VW Toureg drive shaft is the same one used on the Porsche Cayenne, and that the Porsche part is significantly cheaper than the VW part? No, but Derek knows. A+ work, honest and friendly. Far less expensive than any dealer! If you have a VW or Audi, don't take it anywhere else. The owner, Derek has a love for all things VW and Audi and knows every detail from basic maintenance to building full boosted race cars. He has personally maintained my Audi TT and easily drafted up the plans for a full turbo build. Derek knows how to maintain the DSG transmissions, Haldex Quattro units and everything else quirky about the brand. If only I could bring all my vehicles to him! I have been out of the VW scene for quite some time, but I can say that this shop is the best automotive shop I have ever been to. Derek knows his stuff inside and out about every model and he's more than willing to try something different- I think I saw a few Scions in there once! It took me a while to understand his idealology of not answering the phone, but in this day and age email is better anyways. My husband took his Audi here, not only did they do a great job with repairing the AC and everything he asked for. They also took the time to take it to emissions testing for him! When I went to pick it up, my husband got stuck at work, and he had the temp tags in his other vehicle, the gentleman went out of his way to print out a picture of the tags and tape them on for me to drive home. It's very simple...if you have a Volkswagen and you want it fixed right and you don't want to get gouged, your choices are extremely limited in Phoenix. Fortunately we have Exklusiv Motorsports. It's worth the drive from anywhere in the Valley to have Derek take care of your VW.
