Suad is careful and detail oriented, and he used a tool I hadn't seen before that cycled between pressure and vacuum until the resin fully penetrated the empty space. 30min later, only the smallest dot remains where there used to be a chip & small cracks. This is my husband's Yelp account but I'm writing the review since I did the research. The new windshield was part of his birthday gift from me, so that's probably why I researched it so long and hard. Here you go!... I just had the BEST experience with Exel Autoglass. I'm writing this because I'm hoping I can save you the hours I invested in researching the best company to use for a replacement windshield. Other than that I have absolutely no other agenda in writing this, except to spotlight someone who takes his work seriously and does it with integrity and precision. So if you're looking for a window or windshield replacement service, I have summarized my experience..... My husband's windshield had a six inch crack that he had been putting off fixing, so I searched the web to learn all that I could about replacement windshield glass. As you know.... the more you read, the more you learn and the more confused you become trying to decide who's telling the truth and who's not. Auto glass is definitely one of these gray areas! I ended up doing what most people do, I went on Yelp to find local companies and read the reviews. Then I contacted five companies and requested prices and availability. That's a two to three hour long process in itself! Most of the prices were similar, other than a lowball offer and I threw that out because you usually get what you pay for. After many back-and-forth texts and a phone call, I decided to go with Exel Autoglass because of the five star reviews and because the owner had lived in Germany was trained in auto glass installation. Having been to Germany, we know they take their cars very seriously and working on them is a noble vocation. We confirmed the price and details and selected a time and date for a couple days out. Here's how it went..... I was so impressed! Saud brought the glass to us, he was on time, had a clean company logo van, with all the needed equipment, meticulously organized inside. He was wearing a crisp company shirt and mask, was very respectful and ready to get to work. This is his sole business, he didn't work for anyone else, so he has a vested interest in doing it well. He had been in the German auto industry his entire life ,and as I said earlier, had previously worked for a company that installed auto glass in Germany. We found him to be extremely knowledgeable and detailed, yet very approachable and willing to answer any questions we had. We spoke at length at the end (while the glass and glue were setting up) and what I learned from him was so valuable! I'll spare you all the details, but basically there's a big difference in the quality of glass used in replacement windshields and not all glass is created equal. This is probably the best summation I found in my online search to back that up ..... "If the glass doesn't have the exact curvature and optical clarity, it will not calibrate properly or may not perform as designed in preventing crashes. However, just as important as the glass quality is the installation. The glass must be mounted in the vehicle in the exact spot and the camera and radar system must be placed perfectly for the ADAS systems to work." Pilkington is the most common and considered one of the best, but there are others. Saud said he would have provided us with Pilkington glass if we hadn't gone with OEM, but he is always researching the latest and best glass on the market. I could tell cars are his passion and he takes pride in providing the best quality for his customers. My assessment, not his..... Many insurance Insurance companies are tied into Safelite, who provide their own brand of glass, but after reading some of the reviews I decided against them. Do your own research on that though, they may be fine. But I do know is, Its the installer that's important. It's just like finding a good mechanic. Any mechanic can buy the tools and the parts, but do they have the knowledge and the expertise to do the job right? BTW, we ended up selecting the OEM (original manufacturers glass), which he bought from the Acura dealership. ($1160.00 installed price) complete with the Acura logo and numbering, but his original quote was $345 for generic replacement glass. This was in line with the other quotes I received. We only went with OEM because we know we're going to keep the car for another 7 to 8 years and it really was a small amount of money to pay if you amortize it over that time. We will also call him if we get a chip so he can repair it. My husband should've done that before it cracked, but he thought they would stay as a chip and not crack like it did. I hope this helps if you are in the same boat I found myself in last week. I spent a lot of time researching everything and in the end I was glad I did and glad I found Saud at Exel glass. I told him I was going to post this just because we were so happy to have met him! He said it was not necessary, but he appreciated it! Very humble man read more
