On Wed made an appt for him to arrive between 10-12noon on Fri, he let me know he was running late. I got back from my trip Friday morning around 1:30AM. I got up at 5:30AM to do my usual tasks as a parent and as a parent to my cats and stray cats. Gavin and I were off to Starbucks before school. It's his last day of school before the winter break. I was exhausted from barely any sleep, but I did notice an unsettling sound from my car. I thought it came from my windshield, so I contacted Instant Auto Glass once I got home because my windshield was replaced not too long ago. The technician came by to inspect my windshield. It took him a good 25-30 min. before I was assured that the windshield was not the cause of the noise. I wasn't charged for his time and I was quite surprised I was seen right away as well. My front windshield was vandalized on Friday afternoon. I reached out to a couple of companies online, and Richard was quick to respond and get me booked over the weekend. Geico had told me "Safelite" was the preferred company they work directly with, but they had such bad reviews on Google and their closest location was far, so I didn't want to go with Safelite. I am a little confused because the invoice from instant auto glass says Safelite at the top and they invoiced Geico directly outside of my deductible. So if you have Geico, note that there are likely many "Safelite" businesses but they don't call themselves that. The actual appointment took 2 hours and included recalibration of sensors for my 2021 RAV4. I was 20 mins late to my intended drop off time but they still accommodated me. Thanks so much! I contacted Instant Auto Glass on Friday and Richard (owner) came out on Sat morning to check out what I thought was a new chip on my Jeep's windshield. Well, after he checked it out in person (and he had hinted at it during our text exchange) that the chip was actually an old repair that was becoming more visible. Richard's is an honest business owner, quite refreshing in this day and age. I wish more companies had the knowledge, integrity and commitment that he exhibited today. He offered to come by my house early on Sat, before the rest of his scheduled jobs to take a look and see if he could do anything. He stayed in touch so I knew when he was about to show up and when he arrived - that makes scheduling and planning my morning a lot easier! In the end, and after trying a few things to improve it, there was nothing he could do to make it better. The surprising thing was the visit didn't end up costing me anything. That was quite a surprise. I'm not suggesting that business owners should give away their time, as that is not a good way to stay in business, but Instant Auto Glass has won me over as a future customer. They promised 12noon appt. They showed up around 2pm not communicating their ETA. I had to query a couple of times. Even after updating their 20 min ETA they still showed up 40 min later Their tech left, I text back how much was balance how much was balance. This is when the problem started. I was in a meeting, remember, they were supposed to be fixing window at noon. By the time they were done it was around 230 pm. They called 6x for the payment. I told them to give me at least until I finish my meeting. I was upset at that point. Note. There was no plan NOT to pay them. I ask why, he said he was waiting for his manager to pull the part back out and that they were going to refund me.
