I walked the lot looking for sticker prices. As I returned I was met by Ernie asking could help me. I'm certain he could see the frustration on my face and smell the desperation on me. We began a conversation of him asking what I needed in a vehicle. I told him I needed an SUV but the Cherokee was my dream and that I did not need a lender. Just a good car. Me, my daughter and my infant granddaughter sat there for 8 hours as he "worked" to get the deal done. When the sale was finally complete and I had keys in hand I wanted to connect my phone to the SUV before I pulled off. All of a sudden the touch panel was acting crazy. I went back into the dealership to tell him. He said it was no big deal and they would have someone look at it Monday. Over the next few weeks he dodged my calls and texts as I tried to see when they were going get the touch panel repaired. On June 30th the engine light came on. I text and called Ernie. His response to me was that the engine light could only be on because of the touch panel. Ernie gave me his word that the SUV was freshly serviced and there could be no engine issues that this was definitely a sensor/computer issue due to the touch panel. In addition to the engine light being on, the remote start and start/stop function stopped working. On July 1, I took it to get a small free diagnostic test to find out the engine had a misfire and the other issues "could" come from needing a new starter or alternator. When I went in to show Earnie the diagnostic he again said that these issues were from the touch panel and when they get it repaired if that did not correct the issue they would have their mechanic look at the engine. Within, the next week the SUV ran hot. Upon checking the coolant reservoir I found oil in the coolant, an indicator that a head gasket is blown. Upon reaching out to Earnie he was rude and insensitive to me and had no intention of honoring his promises of repairing or replacing. There are other details to this story but too much to text here. To me the worst part is he came to me on that first day representing himself as a man of God saying he was just sitting at his desk praying for a sale. As a woman of God I trusted him. He even shed some crocodile tears as we were signing all of the papers. They have done little to rectify this situation. This man saw me with my daughter and new grandbaby knowing I have a family to care for and he had no regard for our life. I am now stuck with a loan for 22k that I can not repay. I have no vehicle to drive because the repair estimate is over 7k. I am a Gig Worker so with no car I have no money. Earnie knew all of this as well. Due to this my family has been separated because of eviction. I am now homeless. Thank God someone took my daughter and her baby in. But I regret the day I ever considered doing business with these demons. DO NOT EVEN LOOK IN THE DIRECTION OF PAYLESS THEY WILL SELL YOU A LEMON AND THEN ACT AS IF YOU DONT EVEN EXIST. SAVE YOURSELF!!!

They have 13 4&5 star reviews that are squished down into the not recommended category and only 3 negative 1 star reviews recommended. Something's not right with that so seriously everyone make sure to check out the collapsed reviews at the bottom that have fallen into the not recommended category. NOW ONTO MY REVIEW! My family has purchased more than 7 cars from Ty over the last 15 years. 2 or 3 for my Mom, 2 for my sister, a spare older car for emergencies (so we never had to get a rental while one of ours was being worked on etc.) and I just purchased my 3rd car from Ty, Jamie and Trey today. I couldn't be more pleased! I was in a difficult situation being upside down on my car I wanted to trade in, which I bought from Payless 3 years ago. I can't give away my secrets but these guys WORKED to find a solution for me. Jamie seriously went above and beyond and spent well over an hour going over the numbers to find a way for me to trade my car in and leave with a newer car but not pile on the negative equity I still had on my previous loan. When my dad and I went in to meet with them we were not optimistic about the situation, but Jamie said Ty told him to take care of us and "make something happen". Everyone certainly delivered on that as I drove away the very next day in my 2018 Dodge Journey leaving behind my poor beat up 2014 Equinox in parking lot. The Equinox served me well but when I worked as a home hospice nurse and then doing Covid nursing, I really racked up the miles on it and put some wear and tear on it. There was no way a large dealership was going to be able to do what the guys at Payless did. They wouldn't have taken the time or made the effort! Go by and see them and see what they can do for you!!

My husband is Army and was gone in the field, so I was so overwhelmed to break down out-of-state, by myself with kids on a Thursday night. I got Daniel George as my service writer. I do have to say that my car was finished 2 days late and Mr. George was not a good communicator, so I had to repeatedly call for updates during the extended time that my car was there (as I was stuck in a hotel for a week, waiting for my car to be done, every day was a big deal to me). On the very positive side, my car was fixed well. Then, at checkout, I was so stressed out that I forgot to use my military ID for their military discount at checkout. My fault on that completely, I know. I got connected with the service manager, Scott Fairey, to beg for a retro-active military discount and he bent over backwards to thank my husband for his service and personally walk my file over to the cashiers to get it fixed. He apologized that I hadn't felt there was enough communication with Daniel during my service, and asked me to have him paged if he could ever help with anything else. I had initially been frustrated with my experience, but he rolled out the red carpet to make sure I felt really valued as a customer and I left with a smile. It makes you a lot more confident in a shop when there is management that will do anything to ensure that the customer is taken care of. Thank you Mr. Fairey!!

We were…read moresold a vehicle (LEMON) that turned out to have several manufacturing issues affecting its safety & value! I mean severe issues. Below is a record of our experience. From day one there were issues. Driving away in your new car should be an awesome feeling. When we got in the car, the passenger seat belt was broken. The speakers were not working, and placing foot on gas, the vehicle struggled to pick-up. We did inform the Manager Kev & Salesman Rollin of those issues before driving off. We should've taken that as a sign but we would've never imagined that for the months to come, Pep Boys would be the cars reserved parking spot from March 2022 and every 2 to 3 weeks after until the present, NOVEMBER 2022. We had to wait on DOWC to make a decision if they would authorize the repairs, pay or not. We have reached out to US Auto sales but to no help from them. Please note in the process of the SUV getting fixed we would get the SUV back and each time within 2-3 days it wasn't driving right and the process starts all over again. It's like driving a death strap. What is so horrible, we are expected to pay for a car that not only started to smoke under the hood and if we didn't do an emergency pullover the SUV could have started fire, but clearly, not drivable nor in our possession. We were sold a lemon! Clearly the SUV had these issues prior to us signing the contract. The cooling system being detached, the power steering pump, the alternator replaced/removed spark plugs, used engine installed which we were told by Pep Boys they don't install used engines, and most recent diagnostic revealed, the transmission needs to be replaced. For 8 months we have had to find rides from friends and coworkers to get to and from work as well as pick up my Mom from Senior Care. USA Sales didn't want to pay for a rental car since it wasn't $35 a day initially. We were approved for a two week rental while the engine got replaced. DOWC knew how long it would take for the car to get because I had them on a three way call. We had the rental for 10 days and was surprised when we got contacted by Enterprise to pay the bill for 1 week because DOWC did not. US Auto Sales Columbia's district manager Jim, seems to be doing his job. The person or persons above him would not allow Jim to put us into a new vehicle even though knowing we have been dealing with the dodge being in and out of Pep Boys Auto shop for more than half a year. When calling US Auto Sales 6826 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 292 where we purchased the dodge, speaking to Rollin (who sold us the car), I asked for the corporate number and was put on hold for Rollin to come back to lie and say he doesn't know the contact information we requested. When speaking to Rollin and letting him know he sold me a Lemon he could care less and had the nerve to chuckle before hanging up the phone. It's really unfortunate, this is our second Vehicle with US Auto Sales and we are devastated and sad that we decided to return. Is US Auto Sales a fraud dealership that has no care for its customers? Yes they are. Please stop getting cars from this company. DOWC is the worst warranty company on the earth! We still don't have our SUV! We're trying to be patient and present in a professional manner but this approach is rendering no results.
