Came by for a baseball game the other night and it was a decent experience. Street parking was complimentary. There were paid lots nearby. Tickets were apparently complimentary from Rotten Robbies on Thursdays. A visit to the ticket office is required to redeem the voucher into a ticket to get in. There is a security check to get into the game. There were a few concession stands including burgers, garlic fries, chicken tenders and a huge BBQ stand. Apparently the BBQ ribs were tasty, albeit a gigantic portion perfect for sharing. There is assigned seating although most people seemed to have opted to spread out. read more

Go San Joe Giants! It's a nice old park with lots of charm. Good product on the field with plenty of between innings entertainment. Food is a bit pricey but there are some items worthy of the spend. Game prices are more affordable during the week with promotions. It's nice to see the up and coming players come through. There have been a notable number of future stars over the years. The first I remember was George Brett. Worthy of a top, or even season tickets if you have the time. read more

Baseball can be so fun to watch, not here tho. While the bbq is tasty, the seats are not comfortable and the sound system is terrible. It's tough to know what's happening in the game. It is a cheap(er) night out and the kids zone is loved by my twins. Summer fireworks are absolutely thrilling especially with how dark they make the stadium. I'll keep attending when discounted by my employment. Not sure I would pick it out on my own though. read more

What a nice ballpark! I went to this ballpark to watch a San Jose Giants game and had a great time! It is a lot smaller than Oracle Park but provided a more cozy feel! You are able to see all the little side games that the put on in between innings. They serve $2 hot dogs which is awesome! I also enjoyed the simplicity of the food options with the good old nachos, hot dog and garlic fries easily accessible. I had a Corona on tap and was refreshed watching the game! read more

Always a great time to come out and root for the beer batter for half priced beers. Lots of outdoor seating area so if you come with a kid, you don't have to sit in your seats to just enjoy some time out and still get a view of the game. Typical ballpark food but the churros are outstanding if you get them hot and fresh. read more

Single A baseball! We were in San Francisco for a Giants game and we were very happy to find we could go to San Jose for this game. We parked right across the street and walked over to the ballfield. We enjoyed seeing the beer batter and having him strike out so we bought some half-pricebrews. But the very best was the Churros! Make sure you get them from the stand and not just in at the concession. It was fun to see the young players! The ball is old, but kept up. If you're in the area, be sure to go. read more

Ball game for the SJ giants and surprisingly an incredible time! The bleachers in sections A and B are where it's at! It gets really hot on the other side before sundown. The food at the concession stands was not very good but it is ball game food, so not much to ask for! Would not recommend the chili bowl - it's small and super salty! read more

This was an email that I sent Excite Ball Park and the SJ Giants about one of their staff members. I later sent a second email, and I have not gotten a response from anyone. This same email was also sent to MILB, who has responded to me, but nothing still has happened. Good Afternoon Tara I have a complaint about a security guard named Andy! Last night I had tickets in the right field picnic area, before the game I was trying to do some autographing by the weight room before meeting with one of my friends who is a pitcher on the SJ Giants. Not knowing that I wasn't allowed to get autographs (I had no issues getting them two weeks ago) I asked a player for his autograph, the player said sure and came up towards me. Right then Andy came between the player and I waving his hands in the air almost hitting me saying no autographs, I said to him all he had to do is say that I wasn't allowed to get autographs at this time and I would have been fine with it. I also let him know I was meeting a player friend there and he said as long as you don't autograph then I don't care. Meanwhile there is a kids standing close to the weight room door fist bumping every player that walked by. I then simply asked Andy why was it okay for the kid to fist bump players but I couldn't autograph he just looked at me and walked away. Later in the game there was a foul ball hit close to the portable bathrooms. I walked over to get it, and the same security guard picked it up and said I had to many baseballs and walked away with it. I had no baseballs. At the end of the game my player friend told me to wait by the weight room and he would be right out to see me. Andy saw me waiting there and came up and said I needed to leave. I explained that I was meeting my friend who was on his way out. Andy said I don't care. And to get out. So I left. I feel that these issue are very unprofessional and could be handled a whole lot better. This experience is not what you guys promote. I look forward to hearing from you. read more

Came here for a San Jose churros night. Tickets were easily sold on their website. Due to the size of the ballpark, you can't really go wrong with any seat. I sat in section C, in the bleacher portion, which was right behind the catcher. Great view! n00b tip: churros are not free. For some reason I was expecting (hopefully assuming) a free churro came with each purchased ticket. Nope. It cost $5/each? Either $4 or $5...I don't recall...let's blame it on the sugar coma. Either way, it's all part of the San Jose churro night experience. I recommend getting your churro before you head to your seat, because during the later innings the line can get long. I spent a whole inning in the BBQ line. Fortunately it's on the third base side of the ballpark, so you can watch from the lines. We ordered "The Heater" and the "Louisiana Hot Link" which came out to be around $16 total. Both were good options, just get ready for some heat from The Heater. Condiments are also available (ketchup, sliced purple onions, pickle chips) to the side of the register. TL;DR: - try and go on a churro night or fireworks night - parking is available in surrounding neighborhood, unless you don't mind paying a $10+ parking fee - Next time I'd stick with just the beer, garlic fries, and churros. You'll get full off the beer, especially if it's a good beer batter night. read more

4 stars for the stadium 1 star for the Beer and Taco Event 4 stars for the Signature Sauces BBQ taco stand - favorable tacos with tender meats. They held up to the expectation. Coming to the stadium for the first time to a Beer and Taco Event. The 4 stars is for the stadium itself which has a pretty and clean stadium, The turf is manicured well and green. There are plenty of shades areas on the side to rest and enjoy the day. Now the rating for the Beer and Taco event (one star). The coordination was a mess. The souvenir glass did not come in time, food vendors did not provide enough tacos for event goers and lines were extremely long. For a price of $43 per person, in 2.5 hours timeline, I only got to enjoy three tacos and four sampling of beer. What a scam. People were upsets by the time they waited in a long time for tacos and were told by vendor that limited "free" tacos were out. How can the "free" tacos were all gone. Everyone who attended the event had paid in advance to eat the tacos, the event coordinator have know the number of attendees and should have sufficient food for the paid customers. This is called poor management planning. I felted cheated by the event coordinator. read more

Visited my first post-Pandemic San Jose Giants baseball game yesterday. For those of you that have been to games before, here are changes: you can't bring in any bags larger than 4.5" x 6.5"; you can't bring in any food or drink except for a sealed soft-sided water bottle; the seating in the stadium and in the BBQ dining area are socially-distanced; you have to wear a mask except when actively eating or drinking (this was not always followed); and the food offerings are a little limited. Parking in the stadium lot and in the SJSU golf lot across from the stadium charge $15 (cash). Please see the photo of the parking instructions for more details. There is also limited street parking if you get to the game early enough (I arrived 55 minutes before game time on a Thursday night and all the street spaces were taken). For those of you who haven't been to a SJ Giants game before, I continue to recommend it. Seats are relatively inexpensive, the baseball is not bad, you can see future Giants stars, and there is a real, down-home feel to everything. You absolutely need to try the BBQ ribs and the churros, and there are about 15 different beers available. Go Giants! read more

The San Jose Giants. That's actually a fully great reason to come here. A farm team for the SF Giants, I've seen many of the major leaguers come up through this stadium. It's delightful to remember Tim Lincecum come up, among many others. There's plentiful food and drink. They have good stands. There's private group areas over near third base. It's a great place to bring the kids, and a fine location to come with company events or old friends. read more

It's always a good time at the park. I was a bat boy for the S.J. Giants back in 1988....aging myself but it was just as fun back then. They have a lot of things to do and try from their "Frickle" to trying to knock the head lights off their 7th inning "food truck"....oh I can't forget The infamous "Beer Batter". When someone from the opposing team is deemed the beer batter and they strike out the beer is half off. A reason to hate the opposing team even more but grateful when they strike out. You have to bring the family out because there is something for everyone. You never know you might be looking at a future S.F. Giant playmaker. This is a smallish stadium with no covered seats. It's brutally hot when the sun is out... so bad that most of the attendees started leaving half-way through. You're totally exposed to the elements, and there's really no other options. I get that the whole stadium can't be covered but this is crazy. I enjoyed my day here but that was mostly because I was with my daughter and her first-grade class... but it was a constant battle between re-applying lotion, squirting ourselves down with water, and buying snow cones. Also the main concession area inside the stadium really only offers one main food: hot dogs. I get it, dogs are traditional. But there's no burgers or anything, just dogs and nachos. There are some other food places outside if you want to stand in the sun some more while waiting in line. Speaking of which, the lines are crazy. I highly recommend that if you're. It coming with your kid you carefully plan to avoid days when all the kids are going to be there (not sure if they advertise these days on the website?) And if you do have a kid that you want to bring... avoid sunny days for sure! As a San Jose native, I will always be a Giants fan. That's not the issue here; don't mistake my whining for lack of team spirit. I'm just saying that this stadium isn't super fan-friendly. read more

Been there, done that... ...but never actually watched a baseball game here! This stadium is the home of the San Jose Giant Race - 5k or 5 mi - for the past five years. I've ran it twice and experienced what the SJ Municipal Stadium has to offer. As I run through the center field wall (not literally, it's open for us), through the warning track, and onto the lovely manicured green grass I can envision a game happening. The stadium is small enough to feel the romance of the game, but large enough to seat enough fans for a game to feel larger than a collegiate game. Although I've never experienced a game here, I've been through more of the grounds than when a game is going on. I've walked all over the green grass to take pics. I've walked through the beer garden, through their store, and circled the stadium full of empty vendor outlets. Although I've never watched a game here, I'm acquainted enough to say that attending a game here would be fun. I love the booze corner, because you can easily see the game while drinking your adult beverage, that's always a plus. I'm not too sure where actual parking happens for a game, so I cannot comment on that aspect. But I do know that the game tickets are inexpensive and the facility seems to be extremely family friendly. All the seating is bleacher seating, so bring a cushion for your booty! One of these days I'll actually catch a game here! read more

Took the kids here for the first time this week. Parking was easy and cost $15. We walk in and are greeted by friendly staff and multiple inflatables-- slide, house, obstacle course. Purchased tickets for the inflatables which were all supervised by staff. The staff I'm happy to share were attentive-- making sure kids stayed in a line, got a turn, and were safe. I was impressed when the young staff person heard me asking my older kids to help their younger sibling, made the effort to check himself if my kid needed help getting thru the obstacle course. My kids also had a blast at the pitching game. When we made our way to our seats it was cool to see that even at row 17 it was a great view and we didn't feel crowded even though it was a sold out game. I treated my kids to churros, and they were delicious. Great family oriented and fun crowd and vibe. Will definitely be back for another game!! read more

I have been here about 3 times in my life, and all 3 times I have had fun. I came here last night with my best friend to watch a baseball game that had the San Jose Giants against the Modesto Nuts. There was a huge crowd for a Monday evening. The weather was really nice, and the stadium lit up when the sun went down. It was really quite fun. The only big complaint I have is the seats. They are NOT comfortable at all! I would recommend bring a pillow or something soft to sit on. 3.5 stars. Also known as San Jose Muni. This place is OLD and it shows. Hopefully the locker rooms have had a facelift. However there is something lovely about this place that the big ballparks just don't have. Charm. Older Kids can run around without being scolded or without you being worried. They typically have little kids jump house at the entrance. The stadium has an outstanding BBQ that will easily beat any major ballpark. The Churros are first rate and anyone is a fool for at least not trying one. The worst thing about this stadium is the direct sun on any day game. You cannot escape it. San Jose Giants are the feeder team to the SFGiants and we have seen some superstars on their rise or fall or after PT. I've attended a Sacramento Rivercats game at Raleys field and our stadium looks like a dump in comparison. However if you compare it to Minor League Visalia or Stockton it's good. It is just your perspective. But I have seen HS with better facilities. Usually as I walk in to San Jose Muni I think "what a dump" and then end up always having such a good time! Earlier today, I saw on the SJ Giants page that Zack Wheeler (one of our current top pitching prospects and overall one of the top prospect's in America) was set to pitch for today. So today I decided to finally attend my first minor league baseball game. $10 for parking. Parking lot is fairly close to the entrance to the stadium. $16 got me a box seat on row 2 behind the SJ Giants' dugout. It's true. If you sit all the way in the front, you have to deal with people walking right in front of you, but it's not too annoying. Everything seems a bit closer at this park. The crowd really gets into. You can even hear the batter get hit. I finally got a chance to feel how a pop-up foul is hit towards the stands. Watching Wheeler strike out 12 batters more than paid for the cost of parking, food, and the ticket. For about as much as I can spend for a beer at AT&T park got me a decent polish dog and a bottle of water. I got that "small town" feeling when I was at the game. Though the stadium has dimension similar to a major league park, the seating reminded me of a high school football stadium field. Plus everyone around me sounded like they knew each other. These guys need to get their head on straight. It's extremely frustrating when the rules seem to constantly change. I specifically checked on the website prior to coming to check on cost of parking. It said $10 cash, check, mc, visa. Great. I show up.and there's a sign outside that says "Parking $15 Cash Only". After talking with the attendant for a few minutes he finally agrees to let us in for the $10 because that's all I had on me. Great we park. I specifically bring ice water in my water bottle because two weeks prior this was allowed. Apparently today that rule has changed. All water bottles must be empty before entering the stadium. Great. I dump out my ice water and go inside. Go to the counter to get ice water to fill my water bottle. "We don't have ice water here. Bottled water is $3 or there's a drinking fountain over there". So i go to the drinking fountain and the water tasted absolutely terrible. So now I'm forced to pay $3 for a bottle of water. This simple stupid "rule" ruined the experience for me. At this point I don't care to come back even when the free merchant night tickets are everywhere. Keep in mind it was bobblehead night. Fun! But still had a poor experience. I was planning to have a nice evening with the family and have dinner and maybe a beer or two. After this, I refused to buy any food or beer or pay $3 for their bottled water. What a fun and easy place to watch ballgame. You get to watch pro ball players -- including guys on their way to the Majors or rehabbing -- from just a few rows away. By way of comparison, parking, stadium size and prices were all much more in line with Stanford (an easy 3 hour outing) than the SF Giants (a full day and full wallet event). One point of caution: we went on a hot day and found very little shade, either standing or sitting. read more

Bought tickets a few weeks in advance online, and for someone who knows absolutely nothing about baseball, or where to sit during a baseball game, i think I did a pretty damn good job. Of course, I followed the age old rule of, 'you pay more for quality', so I bought the most expensive tickets that they had. (Box seats) It was about 15$ per person, not bad, and we had great seats! We were sitting just to the right of the home plate, and there was no one in front of us. We also managed to get the only section that was in the shade the entire time (WIN!). When we got there, parking was CRAY. Get there super early to grab a parking spot, and avoid the street being backed up! The garlic fries are good, but they give small portions. Then again, ballpark food is an experience in itself. When we went to sit down, there were people in our seats, but they moved when we asked them to. Security is all over the park, which is nice. During the game, a woman fell down while walking and the EMT's had to come. She fell off to our left, but the park staff had to stand in front of us to keep people from walking into the area of the emergency. It was kind of a pain to have people standing right in our view, and have to keep moving our heads to look around them, but we understood the situation. Eventually they moved, and a woman, I guess she must have been a supervisor, came over to us and gave us vouchers for free In N Out for our patience, and not being obnoxious about not being able to see half the game. It was a sweet gesture. We left a bit early to avoid the traffic jam getting out of the parking lot. The stadium is nice, but they need to invest in fans for super hot summer days. Also, the seating chart that they have was a little bit hard to find, and it doesn't really break the seating down very well. read more

Baseball has been very good to me. I LOVE to see a game in person. And, the cozy confines of this place brings back childhood memories of carousing at the little league baseball park across the street from my home. I used to beg my dad for a quarter every day, so I could get a snow-cone at the little snack stand. Trying to sleep in... I would be awoken on the weekends by announcements of players at bat. This stadium is such a great place to take the kids and get them addicted to America's pastime. Lots of kid-friendly activities. Prices are very reasonable. There's no bad seat in the house. Love the "beer batter" thing they have going... strike out that batter and get half off beer for 15 min. After the 7th inning, they offer half off Martinelli's apple juice. Also because it's so cozy, you are pretty likely to meet the parents of the players. Love seeing the proud parents talk about and root for their potential major league player. I got my eye on one player... his dad was really cool. Love the Dugout Store too. Lots of nice merchandise. And, a pretty decent amount of food options for such a little place. You have to check out Turkey Mikes. Get the ribs, potato salad and a cold one. Then go back and enjoy some baseball, up close and personal. read more

I had been talking about attending a San Jose Giants game for a long time. As a devoted Giants fan, I couldn't wait to see our exciting young prospects like Bumgarner (P), Alderson (P), Villalona (1B) and Posey (C). By the time my friend and I finally decided to go to the game, the two pitchers I mentioned had been promoted to AA, but at least we'd get to see Villalona and Posey. I went online and checked out the ticket prices. For $15 + $2.50 per seat, we got to sit in the very front row, directly behind home plate. I mean, this is no Yankee Stadium, but it's still remarkably cheap. Front row is front row, right? Wrong. Unfortunately, the seats were not as good as we had hoped. First of all, the foot traffic in front of the seats NEVER STOPS. People just keep walking as they please with complete and utter disregard for the players or the fans. Sometimes they would stop to throw the trash into a giant bin positioned right in front of our seats. Some guy sitting behind me in row 2 threw an empty plastic bottle that fell into my lap. The protective net behind the backstop was a huge distraction, as was a big green pole that prevented me from seeing first base. I understand it's the minors, and most people don't care about the game, but there has to be a reason those seats are facing the baseball diamond. Somebody must be watching. I understand that San Jose Municipal Stadium is the oldest professional baseball stadium in California. It opened its doors in 1942, and it looks as though it hadn't been remodeled since 1944. I mean, we were in San Jose, a couple of miles away from the heart of Silicon Valley, and THIS is what the facility looks like? I felt like I not only traveled back to the 1940s, but the 1940s in incorporated areas of the Dakotas. Painted wooden signs, really? What century is this? The Cincinnati Red Stockings' fans enjoyed better facilities in 1869! The bathrooms, the walkways and the wall paint invoked memories of my last Alcatraz tour, and that's NOT a good sign. You would think that the prices would remind you of 1942, but that's not the case. The parking in the dirt lot behind the center field wall is $8. We arrived at 5:30, which was just a tad too late to snag one of the free spots across the street. The food and the beer are not particularly cheap ($7-$8 sandwiches and $5-$7 beers). Coffee was the best deal at $1.75 for a large cup, and water seemed to be fair priced (by ballpark standards) at $3.25. The quality of baseball played here was a lot lower than I expected. Yes, it's single A league, but still. The pitchers couldn't throw off-speed pitches for strikes, and the batters had no idea what was going on. I mean, this is professional baseball, not a little league game. Umpires were no better than the teenagers who umpire little league or middle school games. Wow. The first 5 innings lasted about two and a half hours, at which point neither of us could take it anymore. Now, a word about the fans. Unbeknownst to us, we showed up on merchant night, which means that almost everyone, aside from us saps, got free tickets at the local Orchard Supply Hardware, Costco, etc. The fan contingent left a lot to be desired. It seemed that every mentally challenged person, every lowlife with a mullet, and every wifebeater wearing fat boy with far too many tattoos was at this game. I don't want to sound elitist, but the crowd was totally ruining my experience at the game. My friend and I just looked at each other in disbelief. The whole experience was absolutely surreal. It didn't feel like we were in California in the 21st century. I love baseball, and I appreciate the importance and the appeal of the minor leagues. Heck, if you read my profile, you'd see that "Bull Durham" is my all-time favorite movie. I've seen it 20 times, and I know most lines by heart. I don't need to be in a $800 million ballpark to have a good time and watch a baseball game, as long as the game is fun, the seats are good and the fans are friendly. The San Jose Giants experience is one I would like to forget. I was going to invite my dad to a game here, but having watched a game here once, I think it'd be better for both of us if I didn't. read more

Be aware of where you park, this is not a friendly place!! I took my family to the municipal stadium for a SJ Giant Game against Modesto Nuts. Just for the record, this was the first time being at the stadium. Right before the game started, the stadium announced my car license plate number and asked me to report to my car. I went to parking lot and saw my car was vandaled, someone put their tailgating charcoal on top of my left front tire and burned the tire, it almost made the entire car on fire. Luckily people reported to the stadium and they extinguished the fire using fire retardant. The stadium vice president Zach Walter (408-297-1435 ext 18) was with me most of the time since the incident at the stadium. He can prove what I said, but unfortunately he did not witness who did it. My hands are still shaken, there are really people this bad and did this to others who just went their for a family fun night. Very unfortunate. read more

This place is so small, I'm not sure that "stadium" is even the right word to be using here... It's definitely bigger and better than any little-league field, but as far as "stadiums" go, they don't get much more basic. Anyway, that doesn't take away from the fact that this is a fun place to watch some San Jose baseball!! I think what makes this place so great is the laid-back atmosphere combined with some good food and beer for reasonable prices. People are here to hang out with friends and family as much as they are here to watch baseball. Paying less than half of the going rates for major league baseball doesn't hurt, either. Parking isn't bad, but not great either; it'll set you back $10, and you may catch a home-run in your windshield! Municipal Stadium is legendary. I have been coming here with my family to watch the Giants play since I was a kid. It's such a fun place, and you are always going to have a good time, win or lose. Winning is of course what we want, but it's really more the experience. The experience of eating a hot dog, drinking a beer and hanging with family and friends while watching a ball game. You can't go wrong. From the games out front for kids, to Turkey Mike's BBQ, there is a lot to do, in addition to watching the game. They also have other little fun games between innings, some that include audience participation. Those are my favorite to watch. Don't forget to listen out for the beer batter too! On the opposing team, they choose a player that becomes beer batter. If he strikes out, half off beer for 10 minutes or so? It's the best. On busy game days, people can be seen waiting in the aisles in order to get down stairs quickly enough to get in line for that beer! It's hilarious. My most recent trip, we brought our little cousin, and he had such a great time! He played all of the games outside, we had hot dogs and ice cream, and we also bought him a mini baseball bat. Long story short, completely spoiled the kid, but it was so worth it. Spending evenings at Municipal Stadium watching a ball game during the summer is just something that has to happen for me every year. read more
