Tons of vineyards from Livermore wete there. Handful of local breweries that had IPAs, lagers , ciders, and hard seltzer s. Also had a Modelo/Corona booth. I came here with some friends to watch my friend's son play football here. It was my first time attending a college football game. It was Spartan vs Broncos. San Jose State University versus Boise State University. We were lucky to get tickets from my friend's son. There were 21K+ people at the game. It was freezing cold. I am thankful I had a beanie and my Ugg boots and jacket to keep me warm. I also remembered to bring a seat cushion for my seat on the bleachers. Overall, I had a good experience watching a college football game for the first time. The only down side was the parking was full. My friend told me in time so I end up taking uber there instead so I don't have to worry about parking. Then finding the will call ticket was a challenge. I didn't know the will call tickets were right where the ticket booth was. They should add Will Call to the Ticket Booth sign. Just took some time to find the will call to get my ticket. Overall, if you come during the winter, make sure to dress warm and bring transparent bag. It's a good stadium to watch a football game. read more

Fair view, uncomfortable seats, ridiculously overpriced tickets, poor quality concessions, and subpar performance on the field. I scored these seats at a reasonable price on the secondary market, otherwise we'd have stayed home. Normally priced at $45 is insanely expensive for metal bleacher seats with no back support. I paid less than half that. Beautiful view of the field and the surrounding valley and mountains. It was a beautiful evening. Air Force played well and the Spartans didn't. We did enjoy the marching band and their performance throughout the game. It really adds to the atmosphere, especially since the stands were sparsely populated. Probably a combination of an overpriced product and mediocre play of the team. Concessions were pathetically poor. Hot dog wasn't hot. It's in the name! It was a cold dog! Popcorn was blah. Mountain West division had SJSU vs Hawaii for the weekend I attended. It was a super nice day, my son was home for the holidays and he was invited by the SJSU athletics to take some pictures as he does at Utah State! Of course I had to go! The his stadium could definitely use an update! In fact, the stadium was under construction as it looked like they were building addition luxury suites, on the opposite side of where they're currently at now. Some paint would make a huge positive impact as it has been some time since it was last painted. Parking was easy and it was a really great way to spend time with friends and family! read more

I came here for the first time to watch a football game, and it was the 2014-2015 San Jose State Homecoming game, which was really fun! It was crowded which is nice! It gave the place a lot of energy! Parking can be an issue, but if you get there a little early, you can find some on the street nearby. Prices for beverages and snacks like any sporting facility are a bit steep. The seating areas, even for General Admision aren't too bad. As far as I could tell, there isn't a bad seat in the house! The lighting and scoreboard are also really nice and easy to read. Overall; I had a lot of fun! A definite thing to do for anyone that goes to SJSU! Fun times! read more

Here for a graduation for a SJSU student. Very large stadium. Seating looked to be in good condition. Plenty of security and helpers here for the event. Nearby parking was taken went into an overflow parking lot. Signs and were well placed both for parking and once inside to let you know where everything was. Interior maps appreciated. I got a spot where the sun hit me from behind which made it so I didn't need to wear a baseball cap. Was warm but I didnt really feel the heat as I was in the shade. read more

As a San Jose State Alumni I have numerous experiences with the Spartan Stadium: as employee (fundraiser), as sports goer, as graduation attendee/recipient. Any experience that I had with Spartan Stadium reinforces the statement, "It's not where you party, it's who you party with". So if you plan on tailgating with friends with food and beer it will most likely be an enjoyable experience. But if you're planning to work the snack trenches expect to find yourself at the mercy of hungry sports mobs. Sports: -For sports going attendants, you can gain free access with your student ID. Never discard your student ID since regular tickets will reach the $25 price range. -The Spartan Squad area is fairly civil. I've never had the displeasure of getting into any scuffles or being trampled on. I have witnessed fights and people being escorted out, yet these are generally not in the Spartan Squad area. -When walking on the bleachers watch out because my friend jumped on one and broke it. lol. -Prices expectedly high and offer no local flavor. Can we get burritos in this place or what? You call those nachos? -Its relatively easy to sneak stuff inside. Just use a little forethought... Work: -Just don't do it unless you can stomach the crazy dirtiness and never ending crowds. Graduation: -You can't see a thing. -Always carry your cell phone. -Sit near your friends. -Water or alcohol, choose wisely. -Flip flops or shorts aren't a bad idea. Parking: -Parking can be quite problematic. There are many streets that are roped off as non-parking. The ones that aren't fill up in no time. Get there at least three hours before the game to ensure best parking space (free). -Paid parking is convenient enough, but what's so convenient about paying for parking? -There just needs to be more. read more

Yes, I'm biased being an alum, but the view from any seat is quality -- there's no bad seat in the house! New jumbotron at the sound endzone. There's a beer garden at the south east of the stadium. It's a really old, outdated stadium that needs a major upgrade, but it's hard with no private money and a sub-par team on the field. "When" the team becomes successful, it should drive in the $$ to pay for the renovation it deserves. read more

The Stadium is in need of some renovations and the food vendor Spartan Eats who runs the Gridiron Grub concession stand is poorly ran and managed. First and last game. Waited in line 40 minutes to get to the counter and not be able to order what I stood in line for!!!! Out of stuff before halftime on homecoming Makes no sense to me. Maybe it's time to contract the food and beverage services out to a better ran company. read more

Came here to watch Fresno St come here and play the Spartans. Albeit, my team lost (Fresno), the stadium itself was actually pretty nice. Video board was nice and new looking ( I think they renovated it recently as well). I like how there are multiple scoreboard as well also. While the stadium was pretty nice, I am knocking off a couple stars due to how the event was handled. The game was not even a near sell out, yet all parking lots were full (I can't imagine how it would be if the game was an actual sell out). It was WELL known in advanced, that this game would be well attended by Fresno St fans, yet the event staff had no clear instructions for anyone else looking for a spot to park. It was a cluster fuck pretty much. No signs, or nothing. I had to end up parking in Keller park, which sucked. Most college football games have shuttles that pick you up and drop you off at the gate, but not here. Security at the gates was kind of lacking in thorough searches. For instance, the dude at the gate did not even search me with the metal detector wand or even try to search mt at all...someone could have been packing heat and nobody would have know. At this day and age, you figure security would know better. Overall, it was a great atmosphere. Both fanbases were pretty friendly as well. read more

Since the seats are in the form of metal benches, you can try to squeeze in as many people as you can into one row, even though you weren't assigned to those particular seats. That would define the group of people we had to kick out from our row when we arrived about 30 minutes late because we spent near an hour getting into the vicinity of the stadium and then in line for parking. Also, the (obviously re-nailed and re-nailed and re-nailed) wood flooring beneath the benches are dangerous...we cracked it as we got up to leave the game. Lew Wolff and Don Kassing hit a stalemate over money for a joint San Jose EarthQuakes and SJSU Athletic Department. In addition there were rumors Don Kassing wanted a super size stadium that would rival the Rose Bowl. Kassing big dream was for SJSU to be part of Football Pac10. California budget cuts made it clear SJSU needed help in funding to subsidize a new stadium. Today is 2014. Lew Wolff is building his own stadium for the EarthQuakes. This after making improvements and revenue share at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara University. SCU did well with their agreement. Where is Don Kassing today? He retired in 2007, that very year!! During my 300+ visits to Spartan Stadium beginning from 1974 as NASL to MLS, Spartan Stadium had by far the best tail gate section in the entire Bay Area. Ample seating. There were always tickets available except when Pele came to town. For a kid there was plenty of excitement and lots of room to safely roam. Playing hide n seek, stomping on the wooden bleachers to rumble the stadium. The enjoyment of watching old geriatric Italian, Portuguese and Mexican men betting with each other as they sat on the wooden bleachers. They bet on who would score first, which team would score next, and which player etc. Wads of $1.00 bills getting exchanged back and forth. Us kids laughing at them as they argued passionately with each other with animated hand gestures. This stadium was one of my playgrounds. Because of the 25,000 average soccer attendance this stadium was expanded to accommodate all the soccer fans including adding end zone, and entire second deck. Scoreboard was replaced by the Quakes. I don't miss the toilets that would always overflow (even in the 70s) and stink up one end of the stadium or the fact that only two showers worked in the locker rooms. Or the time in the 90s when the power went out and 35,000 fans had to fend for themselves to flee the dark stadium. I loved having firework nights with San Jose Giants. Due to scheduling, the Baseball fireworks would go off first, then the soccer fireworks would. Major League Soccer (MLS)chose San Jose to have their first MLS game. Televised with over 32,000 in attendance, it was televised nationally as San Jose defeated DC United. San Jose State's Spartan Stadium is OK. It is not really the ideal place to watch a college football game, but like I said, it's OK. The things that kind of suck about this stadium is that it's really hard to find. It doesn't stand out and you can't see it from a distance, like a lot of stadiums. When you drive to San Jose to look for it, their aren't any signs that point directly to the direction to where this stadium is. You have to drive around for a while to find it. The second thing is the parking. Their aren't really too many places to park near the stadium, and if you park in the lot near the stadium, the lot gets crowded and there's a lot of tailgaters. The good things about this stadium are, the fans are actually kind of passionate, believe it or not. Yeah, San Jose State isn't a WAC (their conference) power like Hawaii and Boise State or a college football power like USC and Texas but, they get decent crowds for their games and a lot of people are into the game. Another good thing is you can sit anywhere. Sometimes people might sit in your seat and if you sit in another place, no one trips off of whether you took their seat or not..... But yeah, Spartan Stadium is OK. read more

I think the college students run this stadium. The whole thing is pretty disorganized. Your general admission tickets are not very clear about what section your in and to top that off the sections are not clearly marked. Almost no ushers or anyone to tell you where your section is, if you even have a section. The food is priced as if this was AT&T park but made as if this is a high school lunch program. Plus no in and out privileges even if you paid to tailgate in the grass field in front of the stadium. If it was not for the college fervor I doubt this place would have any patrons. All in all I recommend watching the game from home with a bunch of college buddies. read more

Spartan Stadium would be great if it had a decent team that played there, more than a handful of fans, and some school spirit. This place has a great vantage point from all seats. I love the columns on the wall behind each sideline. Decent food, semi-clean restrooms and short lines (thanks again to no school spirit). I have been to a lot of games at Spartan Stadium and it's always been OK to me. The seats on the student sides are in the sun so bring sunglasses and sunscreen or you will regret it. But those are the best seats and you can push your way up to the front and yell, yell, yell. My nephew and I went to a game here when that guy who had his leg amputated played again and we had a great time. It was really exciting. The teams and the bench seating are really close, closer than in any other stadium so the action is in your face. Great atmosphere when it is a big game and the crowd is into it. The field itself is way below par and when it rains, it turns into a mud bowl. Cool to watch, bad to play. Also there is some parking for tailgating but you will probably have to hunt for anything else for a long time. Get there early, bring the kids and you all will have a great time. read more

Review on the food vendor lines during half time: The hot chocolate was luke warm because the machine was running too fast. $3.00 for hot chocolate and $5.00 if they bring it by you on the bleachers. i recently attended a men's international soccer game here, and everything went right except for one major issue... but first the good... *located in sunny san jose, it's tough not to expect picture perfect afternoons and warm evenings. i have been to this stadium at least a dozen times, and every time the weather has provided the perfect environment. rain? no. snow? no.... lottsa, lotssa sun?? yes. bring shades and sunscreen if you're the fair skin type. * plenty of parking. there is a huge lot across the stadium that charges about $15 for parking. for cheap bastards, you can generally find street parking within a mile of the stadium. * not a bad seat in the house. "bowl" style seating in this 20,000+ seat stadium pretty much covers all the bases. the middle section on one side is divided into two tiers, and the rest of the stadium is raised concrete or bleachers. there is no running track surrounding the field, so fans are literally breathing down the athlete's back. * concessions were reasonably priced. a tall beer was $8. other various foods from your standard hot dog to korean style kalbi is available. but, and you knew there was a big but... there is a major set back. THE PLAYING FIELD IS WAY TOO SMALL. this is not a field designed for 22 adult men to play soccer on. it's too narrow and it's too short. the field dictates playing tactics and it's really not fun to watch. the field is so small that it ends up looking like your watching an indoor soccer game played outside. 4 stars for weather, viewing and affordability -2 stars for field size = 2 star stadium. read more

Oh good ol' Spartan Stadium, you hold so many dear memories from my days as a student at SJSU. From participating in the ridiculously hardcore sorority and fraternity football games to raging hard at the tailgate parties, the possibility for engaging in memorable experiences are endless here. However, now as an alum I definitely still come through with other alums to represent that us old ladies can still hold it down in Sparta. This is my home stadium. I havent missed a SJSU football game here since 2002. You can sit anywhere and have a great view of the action. Even in the upper deck, way it the back, you feel like you are on top of the action. OK maybe I am a little biased since this place has sentimental value to me considering it was the site of my graduation in 06, but I think the place definitely has a nice old time feel to it. For anyone complaining about the cold hard seats, and lack of modern amenities, c'mon, this is college football, not ATT park made for yuppie fans! read more

Spartan stadium. A stadium of somewhat-grandeur in the city of San Jose. It hosts the San Jose State's football and soccer team during the season with quite a heavy amount of spectators. The venues sell the usual amenities that most people would need but at a vastly increased price so be prepared to bring a new water water bottle if possible. Why not food you ask? The security do not allow any outside food inside the stadium during games for safety reasons, which is unfortunate. Conditions of the stadium itself are quite decent. I did not complain when I sat to watch a game or two and was quite fine. Although, the steps from within can be slippery so be careful. The stadium has a jumbo screen that shows highlights during games which was quite nice to look at. Overall, I must say that for a stadium, I'd rate it as an average stadium. Nothing too positive nor negative to stand out to give any significance in my rating. read more
