On a day during which he was filled with surgeries Dr. Blaeser stayed 4 hours late to perform a difficult a surgery to repair the breaks and realign her teeth.We are so grateful to Dr. Blaeser and his 8 person surgical team, all of whom rearranged family plans on a Friday night to care for our daughter. They took the time to explain all of our options and to reassure us in the post op debriefing. When she was injured in southeastern Massachusetts we knew we had to drive hours to Dr. Blaeser's in rush hour Friday traffic, but we insisted on it in the emergency room because we knew he was the best! Honestly, I would have flown her in from any college in the country for his level of care! Many RED flags about this office. The first is signing a WAIVER, so they are not at fault if…read moresomething goes terribly wrong. They ignore any documented outside infections that may involve the gums or teeth. Altered imaging, which is highly illegal! I have imaging from other recent dentists that prove otherwise and documented as UNDETERMINED to investigate by a proper qualified specialist such as a root tip infection which there was not. They are likely to push a root canal and crown done by their specialists. I also noticed that during a cleaning that tiny parts of tooth were missing in between filings as they were there before they started. I have proof. This is likely to start a future infection such as a treament like a root canal or fillling. They use a vibrating tool that's more like an ingraving machine you would use to etch writing on a metal tool like a wrench. The pieces I picked up off my tongue were clear and not yellow or white which would indicate tarter build up and noticed pieces missing between my filling on one tooth, which was always there for years, noticing it with my tounge and it was sharp too. DO NOT USE THIS TOOL FOR CLEANING! It likely damages the enemal and creates cavities! Yes, it's effective to remove tartar build-up but can do much more damage than a pick and rotary toothbrush. This is often witnessed by others who have treatment with this tool. Avoid it in other places, too. If they can't answer you, then walk away and note it in a review. To sum up, this practice has offered me root canals for unesesary work were the teeth dont hurt, there is no visible infection on the gums teeth or even recent or current history when in comparison. You get a different dentist every time and have no idea what the last practitioner did. They likely deform good teeth for profit! There is much more I did not mention here when compared to other dental practices that were current and I've had over the years, so please use your own caution judgments and inform yourself everything about a practice before making clear judgments. I have also noticed a reduction in patents in the waiting area and ease of getting a much sooner appointment within a days, not weeks or months time which is an indicator of a mass of clients leaving to go elsewhere since about 2021 or so. They are not all honest, so choose your dentist carefully.

His approach was thoughtful and conservative. Coming in knowing that I needed a fair amount of work done (cracked teeth, new/replacement crowns, etc.) he laid out a plan of treatment, prioritizing what should be done right away versus what could wait, and we've been tackling it step by step. If you are anxious, averse to pain/needles/etc. (that would be me), they do a wonderful job of putting you at ease and minimizing any discomfort.

I used to scoff at those unfortunates who fear dentists. Then it happened to me- the awful…read moreexperience- and I vowed to never ever visit the dentist again unless under heavy sedation. Fast forwarded a year and a half later and I was in total dental agony. Bullied by my coworkers who were tired of listening to my moaning and groaning, I called up Gentle Dental of Beverly and they fit me in that afternoon. I was trembling when the hygienist called my name and led me to the chair and I blurted out, "I'm in agony, but I'm even more scared of the dentist!" and told my traumatizing story of having my teeth drilled by a dentist who was too impatient to let the novocaine take effect. The hygienist was very sweet and assured me that in her 5+ years of working with Dr. Malmquist she had never seen a patient have a miserable experience. I also learned from her that there are different techniques to applying novocaine and that a good dentist would take the time to ensure that I was properly numb. After x-rays, Dr. Malmquist came into the room and introduced himself. Dr. Malmquist was very calm and soothing, took the time to explain the work that needed to be done and listened to my fears and concerns. Also, before I made a decision about whether to proceed with the work, one of the office staff came back with a print out of cost estimates. I decided to proceed and reminded Dr. Malmquist once again that whatever the last dentist had done with the novocaine hadn't worked. As soon as Dr. Malmquist applied the novocaine to my mouth I felt instant relief from my week long tooth ache. He let the novocaine work for a few minutes before drilling. I tensed expectantly while he was drilling, waiting for the pain that never came. In five minutes, he was done, fixing the minor cavity that had caused me so much pain and I never felt a thing. Thanks to Dr. Malmquist and the staff at Beverly Gentle Dental, I can once again count myself amongst the lucky few who "don't fear the dentist." (And the best part- the staff at Beverly Gentle Dental called my ex-dentist and broke up with them for me and arranged for my records to be sent over!)

The last straw: I went in for a cleaning in March and they turned me away because of a health problem I had in February, and they said I had to wait 6 months or get a letter from my doctor. That part is fine and understandable, and I got a letter from my doctor saying I'm clear after 3 months. However, when I went back in early June the showed me a form that I needed to have my doctor sign, because the doctor letter was from March. I had never seen this form before , and if they provided me the form in March they would have been able to treat me at my appointment in June. Anyway, they're just very unprofessional and disorganized and I don't recommend them.

The appointment did not include a cleaning, which was not specified in the pre-appointment communication. I had told them that I just had x-rays from my previous dentist and did not need them (since I do not currently have dental insurance, cost is important to me) but they did not listen and gave me x-rays anyways. The dentist was rather aggressive in discussing an unrelated medical issue (which I already am managing with my PCP) and pushing some very expensive dental work. I do not understand how so many people have left positive reviews for this office, and do not plan to go back.
