I did a search and came up with Ivan's Moving. From the beginning, Jessica was amazing! She set up a time with her movers for that evening, even though it was already 2pm on a Saturday, they agreed to come help me. She said that since they were in Los Angeles, it could be anytime from 6:30 - 7:30pm. The guys called me at 5pm, telling me that they would be there at 6:30. I was so appreciative that they let me know. They actually showed up 15 minutes earlier than they said. Because I had to rent the UHaul for the job, it allowed my daughters and I to make a few trips with the easy stuff, so all they had to do was the big items, which included my very heavy, 140 year old, upright piano. They took our beds and desks apart for us, then put them back together when we got to my new house. They even built and attached my new headboard that I had just purchased for my room. They were very professional and quick! I cannot say enough good things about their service and how helpful they were. My moving drama was changed to a positive day! Thank you so much!!!!!

The "owner", or at least that is who he claimed to be, was kind enough to wait and not charge us while we went and got a uhaul a day early. Within 20 minutes, he had asked 2 strangers, who were clearly on drugs, to assist him and his partner in removing our couch from our apartment. I asked the mover multiple times to please take care of our couches and wrap them. (we provided shrink wrap, 2 couch covers, uhaul furniture pads, and 17 rolls of tape.). When I went outside I see my couch being pushed from the second story to the first story of the building over the rail onto a dumpster with no padding what so ever. Then placed in the dirt. When I ran over I saw my couch covered in scratches and tears. When I confronted the "owner" he stated he did not do it and they were there. Thankfully we had taken photos of the couch because we were in the process of selling it and we showed him that those scratches, tears, and filth were not present prior to him moving it. He then blamed the 2 intoxicated gentleman who assisted him for ruining the couch. I informed him that they were not hired by me therefore if he asked them to help, then he is liable. We began arguing about the damage he has done to my $1600 couch and he refused to take responsibility and walked off the job leaving my furniture and belongs on 2 different stair cases and my couch in the dirt behind the apartment as well as leaving the dumpster 300 feet away from where it belonged. I called him to confront him about the damages and he refused to listen and or remedy the situation. When I called the company number, I left a voicemail and never received a call back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they will damage your belongings and not take responsibility and remedy the situation. I will be contacting the BBB about them.

I booked this company for an interstate move. I have lukewarm feelings about it. I would rate the…read moreestimator, the coordinator, and the movers separately. First, the reason I chose them was because they are a large carrier agency: they use their own trucks and employees, they are not brokers, and that was important to me. The second reason I chose them was that Fabian physically came to my home to do his estimate. Estimators never come to homes anymore, they just look at everything on a screen and I think that puts more pressure on the customer to remember to show them things. I got so many quotes and Fabian was the only person who came in person. Not only that, he didn't feel overly pushy with the sell. I experienced other companies putting down their competitors, or pushing really hard for you to book. He didn't do that and I appreciated it. His pricing was not the highest or the lowest that I received. During the booking process, I would say Fabian was amazing. Unfortunately, he kind of disappeared at the end. I know it's onto the next in sales and all that, but it's a lot of money to spend and then have your calls sent to voicemail without a response. As for the coordinator's office or the dispatcher, terrible. When you book a move with them, you are obligated to give a 3-day window for loading, you don't just get to pick the exact date. I was under the impression that I would be told multiple weeks in advance which of the three days they would be loading. However, when I followed up, I was told that they would decide 2-3 days in advance. I don't know how that's possible because people need to request time off of work for moves. When I reached out to Fabian, he was able to get me a date much sooner, but it shouldn't have been like that in the first place. They also wanted to deliver before the delivery window started when it wasn't possible for me to be there. Again, this was corrected when I reached out to Fabian, but I don't know how it was so poorly coordinated when I booked the move 3+ months in advance. Based on the coordinator alone, I would never book through this agency again. And the reason is strictly the coordinator. I would call Fabian again even though he disappeared, and I would hire that driver again, but I would never want to deal with this coordinator again. If it's company policy to do things this way, that's unfortunate. If it's a choice of the coordinator, I don't understand why it's acceptable to leave customers hanging for so long. The driver, Anthony, was lovely. He was polite and organized. One of the guys working in his crew was curiously rough with the boxes that I had labeled fragile with red stickers on five sides of each box. I don't know why he did that. But I did like Anthony who was the lead. Anthony was also the driver on delivery at my destination and everything went smoothly. I would trust him with my move again. The billing office is good. I only had a small interaction with Victoria, but I have no complaints. All in all, I think this company is okay. I wish they communicated proactively instead of reactively because moving is always so stressful, and when it's an interstate move, it's even worse, and the last thing you want is to be caught off guard or left wondering. I didn't appreciate that I had to ask for things rather than just being told them from the jump. After my items were loaded, I didn't get the inventory sheet for any of the paperwork that I was supposed to receive right away. It wasn't until over 24 hours later that I got a copy of the documents I had signed electronically, and the only reason I got them was because I left them voicemails and text messages. Those messages never got a response, I just had the paperwork emailed to me without any acknowledgment that it was late. They delivered my items fast. I know people who have waited for their deliveries for several weeks. Not this company. I had to ask them to slow down to give me time to make it to my destination. For a lot of people, I can see that being a huge plus and I would be remiss not to mention it. You will probably receive your delivery very quickly with them. So while I wouldn't hire them again based on the coordinator, I do think they are generally fine as far as movers go. Pricing for SoCal to Utah in June was $4600. This included my shuttle at origin ($700) and offload into self storage at destination ($70), and of course the labor before tips, and the transportation.

I chose HDK based on their pricing but the 4 day project got extended to 14 days including some of the weekends they tried to make up for. I found out from one of his crews that aside from other projects, he is also busy traveling. Just imagine what will happen to your project if he gets a bigger one and he'll be out of town for some time. Based on my experience, Hans is a nice guy in terms of cost and quality of work. What he lacks is professionalism in communication and skills in project management. His work is guaranteed, but he hires questionable laborers who should have no business handling saws and hammers when left on their own because their boss is busy on another project. HDK is a case of a "what could have been".

They did:…read more-plumbing (installing toilet, finding and removing a shampoo cap that was plugging a drain under the house, getting the valves in the shower working again, installing new faucet in the kitchen, fixing the horrible leaks in the kitchen sink, etc.) -carpentry (building a cabinet to put a dishwasher in since the house had never had one before, cutting/adjusting the cabinets in the kitchen to make room for a microwave and a taller fridge) -electrical for dishwasher -miscellaneous (putting up gutters and downspouts, getting the gate closed that was not installed correctly by the original people, fixing all the cabinet doors that were hanging off in the kitchen, patching the mess of a wall under the kitchen sink and making all the valves accessible, hooking up the washer/dryer) There were three guys there for a full day, plus two guys for about five hours the next day. They seemed to be working hard from the time they got there until they left. Given how many workers there were and what they accomplished, their rates seemed reasonable. The thing that stood out to me the most about this company is that they fixed a couple of little things at no charge (e.g. putting new washers in outdoor spigots to reduce leaking). In fact, the door frame to our sliding door was not attached properly to the wall and could easily have been broken into. I never showed it to Hans, but I noticed that they fixed that as well. Nobody even mentioned to us that they had done it, which surprised me. I had felt a little unsafe about that door, so it meant a lot that they just did that for us. Also, Hans gave us advice about how to deal with other issues we want to tackle ourselves (removing rust from the fences, etc.) and he seemed interested in making his customers happy. Because we were happy with his work, we not only recommend Hans and his crew, but we are hiring them again next week to help us install appliances and do a few more projects.

The also add an additional $10 per hour if you use a credit card (? budget-wise for them--not for you) and require a picture of your credit card and drivers license. That surprised me!
