I started feeding my girl Loba this food last year. She's a senior & it took some trial & error to figure out the correct amount, but she loves it and her skin allergies have lessened. Her coat is very soft and glossy now. This past week I got a new rescue, Sully, 7 y/o and he was eyeing Loba's food, so I gave him some. Of course, he loves it, so we're sharing Loba's food until the next delivery. I love that they deliver locally once a month although I don't mind the beautiful drive out to Sutter Creek. The store is very dog friendly, and Loba got to pick out treats. Sully LOVES the squeaky chicken toy. I just wished the vet/community at large wasn't so anti-raw. I'm glad the food comes frozen, and there are strict handling instructions included which makes the whole process easy. read more

I live in San Jose, CA and I order their raw products online and pick up locally. I love their stuff. It's high quality and fairly priced. My Labrador Retriever was on commercial raw and never did really well on it. He does a lot better on Excel's Special Grind #1: Chicken/Duck. You can tell their meats are high quality just by looking at the color of it. I used to order from Creston Valley Meats, but poor bedside manner and low quality meats turned me off from them. You can also add treats or toys to your pick up order! The people here are super kind as well! Wish we lived closer. read more

Yes, as a former customer I do believe these folks love dogs and do their best, but... I liked supporting a local merchant until I realized that I could save money by clicking on a mouse (Amazon) and getting the same exact product on-line for less money and without every having to get in my car. The only value this place offers is with there line of raw foods and I hope that keeps them in business but I'll continue to get everything from Amazon. Earlier this evening I noticed that K9 Kafe was looking to hire a warehouse worker and I was a little dismayed. The ad said they were paying $11 per hour and that they need someone with "no lifting restrictions". Well, IMHO, that's just not acceptable anymore. They are demanding too much and it should be illegal. This kind of employment ad is highly unusual and the salary suggests that the management isn't giving much back to the community. read more

I heard about Excel K9 Kafe from a friend who has been using the raw product for a while. I had read that the raw diet was the best for pets, but had no idea how to do it. I have purchased the balanced diet beef and turducken flavors. One of my dogs wouldn't touch the beef, but loves the turducken............so that is what I will stick with. The employees have been very accommodating and knowledgeable. We will continue on with this diet, as I feel that my dogs are getting the best there is out there! It is time for me to write a review. I have been feeding my dogs, and my fosters now for about 3 + years and they all do very well on this food. There has never been a problem, (which vets will tell you raw is a no-no). How many companies, good ones, have had their food recalled? I have never felt I have to worry about Excel K9. My dogs do great on this food and regardless of what vets say, I am sticking to it. Not to mention how great everyone is if I get an order in late, or need to call with a question, everyone is very helpful. The dogs love all the food, and all the natural snacks. We have used only Excel raw food for our German Shepherd. Seven years now. She is really healthy and the vet always comments on how good she looks all around. We get delivery every three months because we have a big freezer. Good company, products, and people. At about $190 month for an 80 lb female, it's more than good dry food, but less than buying raw at the pet store. We could save a bit if we went with all chicken, but we buy 4 different flavors. It is more work to thaw, measure out, and clean up the counter (sanitation is important with raw meats). We also go through a lot of 1 gallon ziploc bags. Also more work to take her to the kennel when we travel. But the health benefits to our kid/dog are worth it!! read more

If you want great products and great customer service Excel K9 is the place to go. I adopted a cavalier who ended up having very itchy skin. I tried all the "premium" kibbles and decided to go with a raw diet vs drugs from the vet. Best decision I ever made. He made it through last summer without any antihistamines or trips to the vet for itchy skin. He LOVES the food and his coat looks great. I have since been in contact with Renee many times with food or supplement related questions for my other animals including an 18 yr old cat. She goes above and beyond to get me information and suggestions of food that may be helpful. I can't believe this only has 1 review and I can't believe it took me this long to add one! Excel K9 is my economic-dog-health-savoir! We feed our dog and cat raw food diets and when we moved from a small town in Oregon (where the local butcher actually made some of our food) to Sacramento where most butchers don't even cut their own bone, we had no idea what to do. We started having food shipped in from Santa Rosa, but the costs were too high and we were starting to look at switching back to kibble. We then met an Excel K9 customer at one of the Sacramento dog parks and told us about incredible pricing and a $3 delivery fee. We searched Excel K9 and got in touch with them and gave them a try immediately. With mix prices at $2-$3/lb and bone prices of less than $1/lb (like turkey necks, chicken breast cages, etc), we were able to keep them both on raw! Our cat is on Rad Cat and we save $3/container by ordering through Extreme K9. I can't say enough good things about this company - the food mix is great, inventory of bones and treats is amazing, prices are great and they are very responsive to questions. I've never been to their shop in Jackson, but I plan to stop by some time. read more
