Pets To Go has been our neighborhood pet store since we first landed in Elk Grove, and we've been coming here ever since they first opened their doors. At this point, the people who work here genuinely feel like extended family. One of the things that makes this place so special for us is that it's not just a quick shopping trip -- it's something my daughter looks forward to. Brooklyn loves visiting on the weekends because she gets to pet the cats that roam around the store, and if we're lucky she might get to hold a bird or spend time with a guinea pig or bunny. I actually got my first crested gecko from them when they first opened, then my daughter picked out her beautiful fire orange crested gecko, Blossom, and most recently we brought home Peachy Pete -- our adorable little "frog butt" crested gecko (he lost his tail at some point before we got him, which somehow makes him even cuter). What keeps us coming back year after year is the consistency. Everyone is knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to help without making you feel rushed or pressured. Whether we need food, habitat supplies, or advice, they take the time to make sure we leave confident. You can also tell they genuinely care about the animals themselves, which matters so much as a pet owner. It never feels transactional -- it feels like they want both the pets and the families to succeed. We almost always find what we need here, and honestly I'm so grateful they're right down the street from us because they've become such a trusted part of our routine. They have a raised tub with handheld shower wand, ramp for dog to access tub, shampoo, scrub brush for washing, towels, apron for me, dryer, brushes, cotton balls, wet vacuum, and treats. They get my 5 star review for self washes. Their customer service is amazing! Easy to book an appointment and change it. They are open 7 days a week. More than a year has passed, and the Pets To Go team have always been very helpful with all my questions. The store itself is perfect size. They have the essential items needed to take care of your pet. They have 2 locations, so if one location doesn't have a particular item in stock, they can get it from their other location. The owner helped me solve my dog's soft stools that I just couldn't seem to figure out. What's more amazing is the help I received today when I found myself in a bind, I had injured my ankle and was due to have surgery the following day, when I explained this to Pam she offered to personally deliver it to my house after work. I didn't realize that they close pretty early compared to other stores and stopped in roughly 20 minutes prior to them closing. Despite this, Hannah still greeted me and asked if I needed help with anything. I appreciate that she assisted me and didn't make me feel like I needed to rush or hurry out the door due to the store closing soon. They didn't carry my cat's brand of food but told me that I can use one that is most similar to the one my cat is currently on. What I also appreciate so much about the store is how organized it was and the attentive and knowledge of products. Pets To Go is an all around wonderful shop! I have been coming here since we moved to the area in early 2021. Before moving here, we usually went to Petfood Express, ordered on Chewy, and online stores. Pets To Go carries many great brands and whatever they don't carry regularly, we are able to put on a scheduled special order. I love being able to get all of our food in one place since we do get some small/boutique brands/flavors, instead of having to order from multiple places. The staff is super friendly and remembered me and my partner after only a couple of visits, even when we came in separately and in masks. :) read more

I am so happy I came across this absolute gem! It's definitely a smaller pet shop, but nonetheless quaint. I was automatically shrieking and squealing when I first walked through the door and straight to the big glass case with the most adorable bunny in it. Before I know it, the friendly employee asked if I'd like to hold him. Obviously, I wasn't going to pass up such an amazing offer to pet anything super soft and that kayuuuteee. After I pry myself away from the bunny, she offered the guinea pig for me to hold. Just when I thought shopping couldn't get any better, I had the pleasure of shopping around with a small furbaby resting safely on one arm. They have shop pets from snakes to cats. It makes the place feel so homey and made me really happy just being inside of the store. For a small shop, they sure have a good amount of things to offer at very reasonable prices. I was able to pick up many goodies for my own fur babies back home. They also offer a free sign up with a phone number to track your purchases incase a customer needs to pull up what they've previously bought. This shop and their staff really made my day (Thanks Issa!). I've always bought my pet supplies online, but now I have a reason to shop in person. So the location is a little small, but this store is a small business establishment and definitely has that mom and pop feel. There is pet supplies for dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, chickens and I think reptiles. My review is mostly dog focused. I came to this store looking for particular dog treat items. I've been to every other pet store in E.G. and just wasn't finding what I've been looking for. When I spoke with the owner, she was sweet, and tried to understand what dog treat items I was looking for. Although it's a small store, Pets To Go had a lot of dog treat options. Unfortunately I didn't find my specific brands that I was seeking however the owner was so kind and offered to order my brand or a similar product to be delivered to the store. I didn't take her up on the offer only because I wasn't sure when I would make it back to the store. I did find a few goodies for my girl, my 16 month rhodie. I got some pig ears and tendons. When the owner rang my items up, she asked for my phone number. At this store they track your item purchases if you want to participate. The owner explained they track items to make it convenient if you forget what dog food you bought last or for a similar situation or for return purposes. Good idea. Also, such a sweet gesture, the owner gave me a $5 gift card to use the next time I'm in the store (an offer given to first time customers). I'm sure I'll be back. Amazing customer service. We went there right at 5 today (Christmas Eve) and unfortunately they were locking up, but had seen us pull in the parking lot. They actually waited for us and allowed us to buy our dog food. This tired Mama was soo happy and beyond thankful. We had a hell of a week dealing with Covid and we were finally off quarantine and able to get out of the house, just at the last minute to buy food for our doggy! Wow! I'm so glad I've discovered this place! I recently switched my 7 year old chihuahua to a raw diet in hopes to get her to eat healthier food and to lose weight. I was a little hesitant at first as I was afraid my dog could get sick from eating raw but, when I spoke to Jeremy the owner, he answered all of my questions about the raw food and offered a few suggestions to insure my dog would have the best experience with transitioning to the raw diet. Jeremy signed me up for a loyalty program with the dog food I get called "Stella and Chewy's" so now, it keeps track of how much food I get for my dog and they offer me a free bag after the 12th bag I buy! How cool is that? I ONLY come here to buy my dog's food now! Also, side note... there's a cute little white and gray cat that walks around the store! read more

I'm so disappointed in this location. This is my normal go to when my dog needs washes in between her hair cuts and baths from her regular place. I have always enjoyed coming here. It has always been clean and has all the items you need to wash your dog. Today was different. I call at 1145am and ask if they have any appointments today. The young lady said noon. PERFECT! I rush over and they are ready for me. Always amazing customer service. I get in the wash room right when I get there. It had a lot of hair all over from another dog on the floor and kind of all over. Okay not the cleanest but I get it it's a dog wash room. Fine. I then pick my dog up to put her in the bath and there is hair all in the tub. I'm already here so luckily they have spray, I had to clean the tub and the area around it because there was so much dog hair. Okay that's fine maybe a one off. I've never had ever experienced that but I cleaned it up myself. It was a good amount of hair to visibly notice. I continue to clean my dog and wash her. We get done and I go to use the hair brushes they have (they have always been cleaned every single time I have gone in no matter what time of the day). I pick up every single brush and comb. Filthy. Filled with dog hair every single tool. I walk out and show the front desk young lady. She looks me in my face and says we always clean them but if you want to buy another one. I said no these are ALL completely dirty. Dog hair in every single one. She looks at them and says oh they and says she will clean them. I don't know how she "clean" them but it still had dog hair and said. "Well I did my best but we have so many washes you know." I don't know. I've never not had anything but clean brushes here. I just did not use them. I am just really disappointed and not sure if I will be back here at this location. I hope they see this and retrain their workers to make sure things are properly cleaned.
