Pets To Go has been our neighborhood pet store since we first landed in Elk Grove, and we've been coming here ever since they first opened their doors. At this point, the people who work here genuinely feel like extended family. One of the things that makes this place so special for us is that it's not just a quick shopping trip -- it's something my daughter looks forward to. Brooklyn loves visiting on the weekends because she gets to pet the cats that roam around the store, and if we're lucky she might get to hold a bird or spend time with a guinea pig or bunny. It's such a fun, hands-on experience for kids, and the staff is always kind and patient with her. Over the years we've purchased supplies for multiple pets here, and they've helped us through several additions to our little reptile family. I actually got my first crested gecko from them when they first opened, then my daughter picked out her beautiful fire orange crested gecko, Blossom, and most recently we brought home Peachy Pete -- our adorable little "frog butt" crested gecko (he lost his tail at some point before we got him, which somehow makes him even cuter). What keeps us coming back year after year is the consistency. Everyone is knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to help without making you feel rushed or pressured. Whether we need food, habitat supplies, or advice, they take the time to make sure we leave confident. You can also tell they genuinely care about the animals themselves, which matters so much as a pet owner. It never feels transactional -- it feels like they want both the pets and the families to succeed. We almost always find what we need here, and honestly I'm so grateful they're right down the street from us because they've become such a trusted part of our routine. If you're looking for a local pet store where the staff is experienced, kind, and truly invested in helping you care for your animals, this place is a gem. read more

Very nice place! Got my dog a bath there and it was perfect! Staff is friendly! Highly recommend.

Needed to give my pup a bath and found their convenient self service dog wash in EG so we wouldn't have to drive to Sac. For an appointment for the wash you get a 1hr allotted time and supplies are available (shampoo, brushes, dryer, towels). Friendly staff and easy to make an appointment-we definitely plan to return! read more

Kudos to Pets to Go on Laguna Main for their wash station/room set up, thinking of everything, plus the clean up afterwards for under $20. They have a raised tub with handheld shower wand, ramp for dog to access tub, shampoo, scrub brush for washing, towels, apron for me, dryer, brushes, cotton balls, wet vacuum, and treats. They get my 5 star review for self washes. Their customer service is amazing! Easy to book an appointment and change it. They are open 7 days a week. They also stock treats, food (fresh and dry), toys, and do much more. Their store cats are awesome, too! read more

I've been a customer for over a decade, and this is hands down the best pet store in town. Pets to Go is an incredibly well-run business with customer service that stands out anywhere. From the moment you walk in, you're treated like a friend. This isn't because of how long I've been coming here. It's just how they treat everyone. Their staff is exceptional, both the familiar long-timers and the newer faces. If you need something hard to find, they'll source it and hold it for you without hesitation. Pets to Go is more than a pet store. It's a community staple run by good people who truly care. Elk Grove and all of our furry, scaly, and feathered family members are fortunate to have them. read more

After getting a dog, I always thought I'd be buying things at the big chain pet stores. After doing some research, I knew I wanted Stella and Chewy Brand food for my dogs. I searched around and came across Pets To Go. I met Jeremy and Pam who were very friendly and informative. More than a year has passed, and the Pets To Go team have always been very helpful with all my questions. The store itself is perfect size. They have the essential items needed to take care of your pet. They have 2 locations, so if one location doesn't have a particular item in stock, they can get it from their other location. Or just drive there, it's a nice straight drive down Elk Grove Blvd. Oh and guess what? If they don't have something you're looking for, let them know and they can most likely order it for you! Pets To Go is a great local family owned business to get your pet essentials. Go and support this awesome pet store! read more

The location across town, which is closest to our home, was out of the sample size dog food we wanted our corgi to try. They called the Laguna location and they thankfully had it and put it on hold for us to pick up later that day. The gentleman who helped us at the Laguna location was Awesome! He greeted us, asked if he could help, when we let him know about the dog food we had on hold, he knew exactly where it was, and even gave us a discount for having to come to this location! Truly the best customer service. Thankful Pancake (our corgi) loved the food and know we'll be purchasing the bigger bag! Thanks Pets to Go. read more

I took my large dog, a French Mastiff, to Pets to Go for a wash, and he absolutely loved it. Washing him at home has always been a struggle due to his size, but their setup made the whole process so much easier and enjoyable. Their wash station is thoughtfully designed with everything you need to clean your pup, plus they handle the cleanup afterward, all for under $20. They even offer a six-month unlimited wash plan at a great price, which is an amazing deal if you wash your dog regularly. The setup is impressive and convenient. They provide a raised tub with a ramp for easy access, a handheld shower wand, shampoo, a scrub brush, towels, an apron to keep you dry, a dryer, brushes, cotton balls, a wet vacuum, and treats for your furry friend. It is clear they have considered every detail to make the process easy and stress-free for both you and your dog. Their customer service is also exceptional. The gentleman at the front counter was very friendly, took the time to explain everything, and pointed out their unlimited wash special. Booking an appointment was simple, and they make it easy to reschedule if needed. It is also convenient that they are open seven days a week. I will definitely be back. read more

Amazing pet store! Such a hidden gem in my neighborhood in Elk Grove. I needed chicken feed ASAP and didn't think any stores on the west side of Elk Grove had what I needed, but Pets to Go did! High quality feed at a great price, and they offer free delivery as well. Support local! read more

Pets to go has some amazing staff. The employees and the owners are always very helpful, friendly, and courteous. The owner helped me solve my dog's soft stools that I just couldn't seem to figure out. What's more amazing is the help I received today when I found myself in a bind, I had injured my ankle and was due to have surgery the following day, when I explained this to Pam she offered to personally deliver it to my house after work. I was so grateful because once I had surgery I would not be able to get more food. I will be a customer for life!! Thank you, Pam!! read more

My favorite place for all my babies! Everyone is so nice and helpful. Both locations are clean and inviting.

Tip: Free local delivery in Elk Grove if you order online and spend $35+. Don't forget to ask about their Astro Loyalty Program= free food for your pet(s)! This is one of my go to places for pet food. I LOVE that their food selections are all healthy and natural for my fur babies. Lately, I have been ordering online and having the food delivered to my house. It's so nice and convenient! I really appreciate that they offer this option for customers. This will for sure keep me returning back for more! On top of that, whenever I do stop by in person the staff there are super: friendly, helpful, and nice. I also enjoy seeing their cats roaming around in the stores. I love how freely they can walk around or interact with the customers. These kitties are happy for sure! Lol. The only improvement I would like to see is for them provide more selection for small pets like guinea pigs. Sometimes when I order online or shop in person, the stock is limited. Once or twice I had to choose to shop at Petco when I would much rather support awesome small businesses like Pets To Go! Do I recommend this place? Heck yeah! They are organized, professional, and has good customer service! Love this place! read more

Pets to Go is amazing. Do not let the small size fool you. What they carry is quality product and they go over the top to help you find what you need. If you don't see it... ask! Don't forget the great wash room you can book to bath your furry friend. 10 out of 10 I would recommend this store. read more

As all the other Yelpers mentioned, Pets To Go has amazing customer service. Shout Out to Hannah! I didn't realize that they close pretty early compared to other stores and stopped in roughly 20 minutes prior to them closing. Despite this, Hannah still greeted me and asked if I needed help with anything. I appreciate that she assisted me and didn't make me feel like I needed to rush or hurry out the door due to the store closing soon. They didn't carry my cat's brand of food but told me that I can use one that is most similar to the one my cat is currently on. What I also appreciate so much about the store is how organized it was and the attentive and knowledge of products. I plan to come back soon since it's only around the corner from where I live. read more

Pets To Go is an all around wonderful shop! I have been coming here since we moved to the area in early 2021. Before moving here, we usually went to Petfood Express, ordered on Chewy, and online stores. Pets To Go carries many great brands and whatever they don't carry regularly, we are able to put on a scheduled special order. I love being able to get all of our food in one place since we do get some small/boutique brands/flavors, instead of having to order from multiple places. The staff is super friendly and remembered me and my partner after only a couple of visits, even when we came in separately and in masks. :) read more

I am so happy I came across this absolute gem! It's definitely a smaller pet shop, but nonetheless quaint. I was automatically shrieking and squealing when I first walked through the door and straight to the big glass case with the most adorable bunny in it. Before I know it, the friendly employee asked if I'd like to hold him. Obviously, I wasn't going to pass up such an amazing offer to pet anything super soft and that kayuuuteee. After I pry myself away from the bunny, she offered the guinea pig for me to hold. Just when I thought shopping couldn't get any better, I had the pleasure of shopping around with a small furbaby resting safely on one arm. They have shop pets from snakes to cats. It makes the place feel so homey and made me really happy just being inside of the store. For a small shop, they sure have a good amount of things to offer at very reasonable prices. I was able to pick up many goodies for my own fur babies back home. They also offer a free sign up with a phone number to track your purchases incase a customer needs to pull up what they've previously bought. This shop and their staff really made my day (Thanks Issa!). I've always bought my pet supplies online, but now I have a reason to shop in person. I will definitely be returning to Pets To Go and will highly recommend it to any pet parents in the area. read more

So the location is a little small, but this store is a small business establishment and definitely has that mom and pop feel. There is pet supplies for dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, chickens and I think reptiles. My review is mostly dog focused. I came to this store looking for particular dog treat items. I've been to every other pet store in E.G. and just wasn't finding what I've been looking for. When I spoke with the owner, she was sweet, and tried to understand what dog treat items I was looking for. Although it's a small store, Pets To Go had a lot of dog treat options. Unfortunately I didn't find my specific brands that I was seeking however the owner was so kind and offered to order my brand or a similar product to be delivered to the store. I didn't take her up on the offer only because I wasn't sure when I would make it back to the store. I did find a few goodies for my girl, my 16 month rhodie. I got some pig ears and tendons. When the owner rang my items up, she asked for my phone number. At this store they track your item purchases if you want to participate. The owner explained they track items to make it convenient if you forget what dog food you bought last or for a similar situation or for return purposes. Good idea. Also, such a sweet gesture, the owner gave me a $5 gift card to use the next time I'm in the store (an offer given to first time customers). I'm sure I'll be back. High quality goods, excellent customer service, and of course I love the idea of helping out local small businesses. read more

Amazing customer service. We went there right at 5 today (Christmas Eve) and unfortunately they were locking up, but had seen us pull in the parking lot. They actually waited for us and allowed us to buy our dog food. This tired Mama was soo happy and beyond thankful. Jeremy and the staff are awesome! I've been going to this shop for close to 15 years and I've always had a wonderful experience there. Wow! I'm so glad I've discovered this place! I recently switched my 7 year old chihuahua to a raw diet in hopes to get her to eat healthier food and to lose weight. I was a little hesitant at first as I was afraid my dog could get sick from eating raw but, when I spoke to Jeremy the owner, he answered all of my questions about the raw food and offered a few suggestions to insure my dog would have the best experience with transitioning to the raw diet. Jeremy signed me up for a loyalty program with the dog food I get called "Stella and Chewy's" so now, it keeps track of how much food I get for my dog and they offer me a free bag after the 12th bag I buy! How cool is that? I ONLY come here to buy my dog's food now! Also, side note... there's a cute little white and gray cat that walks around the store! read more
