At this point, the people who work here genuinely feel like extended family. One of the things that makes this place so special for us is that it's not just a quick shopping trip -- it's something my daughter looks forward to. Brooklyn loves visiting on the weekends because she gets to pet the cats that roam around the store, and if we're lucky she might get to hold a bird or spend time with a guinea pig or bunny. It's such a fun, hands-on experience for kids, and the staff is always kind and patient with her. Over the years we've purchased supplies for multiple pets here, and they've helped us through several additions to our little reptile family. I actually got my first crested gecko from them when they first opened, then my daughter picked out her beautiful fire orange crested gecko, Blossom, and most recently we brought home Peachy Pete -- our adorable little "frog butt" crested gecko (he lost his tail at some point before we got him, which somehow makes him even cuter). What keeps us coming back year after year is the consistency. Everyone is knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to help without making you feel rushed or pressured. Whether we need food, habitat supplies, or advice, they take the time to make sure we leave confident. You can also tell they genuinely care about the animals themselves, which matters so much as a pet owner. It never feels transactional -- it feels like they want both the pets and the families to succeed. We almost always find what we need here, and honestly I'm so grateful they're right down the street from us because they've become such a trusted part of our routine. If you're looking for a local pet store where the staff is experienced, kind, and truly invested in helping you care for your animals, this place is a gem.

My main concern was our dogs not being comfortable with the rotation of different pet sitters, so I expressed that concern with Janet and figured out a plan to prepare our dogs. We ended up booking walks for our dogs to meet with the different sitters they may encounter during our vacation. Each walker/sitter we met was equally friendly and our three German shepherds had no issue with either one of them. We received reports after each visit, which we appreciated. What I do appreciate most about Lucky Buddy Petcare is that we're not dependent on one person's schedule while planning. The booking process is super easy through their website. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a pet sitting company!

I am grateful to have found Janet and her team to walk and stay overnight with my smart, loving and rambunctious Aussie, Jake. Jake loved his walks and especially enjoyed his time with Janet and Kathleen when they stayed with him when I went on my first trip in years because I would not board him. I told my friends I thought he was two-timing me because he was so happy and relaxed when I arrived home. I also had a dog walker come every day at Janet's suggestion while I was away and I truly appreciate the time and care these young women gave to Jake during that time and his regular walks. Sadly, Jake is no longer with me. He was only six years old but he had a medical condition that was lurking, unknown and undiagnosed until it suddenly appeared shattering my world. My first call was to my friend, a retired vet, who told me the likely diagnoses. My second call was to Janet who told me where the best ER animal hospital was located and provided additional emotional support. Janet continued to reach out and check to see if I was alright after I had to make a pet owner's most dreaded decision. She is not kidding in her business info when she says she will be there for you.

Before that, my husband and I worked different schedules so we never needed a dog walker. We both took about a year off after moving before heading back into full-time work. When we decided to go back to work and realized we would have the same schedule, we knew we had to find someone to walk our dog Mon-Fri. I called several people, asked a lot of questions and met a few of them. Lori was very patient with all my questions and our dog absolutely loved her. It was important to us to find the right person because our dog started having separation anxiety after our move. She was tearing up her crate, which made us very nervous to leave her. We felt like we were tied to the house all the time and even mounted a camera in the living room so we could check on her when we were out! (We've since retrained her to like her crate again.) Lori started walking our dog once a week and moved to 5 days once my husband and I were both working. During the first few weeks of my new job I continued to check our camera to see how our dog was doing while we were gone. And I have to admit that I did check a few times to see how long Lori was out with our dog. I feel weird about that now, but we didn't know Lori so well yet and she totally could have said she was walking our dog for 45 minutes and only go for 20, and we wouldn't have known. But she never cuts the time short. She always has our dog out for as long as she was scheduled for. Over the past year Lori has been a HUGE asset to our family. I don't believe she's ever cancelled a walk, so she is extremely reliable. She feeds our cats their lunch every day when she comes to take our dog out. When we go on vacation, she boards our dog and visits our cats. She even gave one of our cats medication when he needed it. Lori often sends heart-warming photos of our dog while she's out with her. She keeps our dog safe and comfortable by playing with her inside when the weather is extreme. And I know our dog adores Lori because when I'm home sick I get to see how excited she is when Lori arrives. We rely on Lori so much that I honestly don't know what we would do if we ever lost her. P.S. For those of you who haven't checked out her website yet and are wondering how much she charges... she's very affordable. We do $15 for 45 minutes. I've seen some walkers charge $25 for a 30 minute walk! We are by no means well off, so with how often Lori walks our dog, we really appreciate her fair prices!

There were a few cuties that I could see potentially growing into a serious relationship. So I sold myself as much as I could on their online form and waited anxiously for them to respond. 3 days wait is the general rule before calling right? I decided to take my little man with me to see if I had his approval before cheating on him with another lifelong commitment. The place was a bit out in the boonies and looks like someone turned their barn-home into a rescue shelter. But Kritter Kamp is a no-kill rescue place so it's worth the drive. The place is a bit overwhelming with tons of little guys yapping away inside the building. But I was just glad that they were kept INSIDE the building and not in outdoor kennels. I was surprised to see they offer boarding and grooming services as well. They have a grassy fenced off play-area where I was introduced to my list of potential suitors. My little man wasn't interested in being compatible with any of them and they seem to not care as well. He was more interested in sniffing the grass than sniffing their butts. After I exhausted my list of potentials without even coming close to a match, one of the KK staff said she noticed that I had a type- I like 'em hairy! She told me she'd bring out a new one they just recently rescued from the Sac shelter. Out comes "Cha-Cha", a white furball with mattes all over her feet. She was so friendly, coming up to me all wiggly-butt and waggy. And she loved my little man, following him around everywhere! I originally didn't want to swing that way and wanted males only, but she was such a sweetheart and it just felt right. The heart doesn't lie, ya'll. Turns out she had only been at Kritter Kamp for 2 days and they hadn't even gotten a chance to fully groom her yet or socialize her. She only trusted Betty. I could tell the KK staff really cares about animals by how they handled the dogs and how they grilled me with questions before allowing me to bring her home. But I was able to take her home the same day with a $200 adoption fee to cover for her shots and spay. She hadn't even gotten spayed yet, but the ladies at KK assured me they would call me to set up an appointment with SPCA to have her spayed. Sure enough, a few days later, I dropped her back at KK and they had her spayed and returned within a day with all the paperwork. And despite the many dogs at KK and how little time they had to make her all pretty and adoptable, she came home without fleas! Now that says a lot about the place. Two years later and then-Cha-Cha-but-now-Lola has proven to be one of the best life choices I've made. She fits so well with the family. So if you find that Match.com ain't matching so well, go adopt and you'll find a devoted partner who'll love you unconditionally. You save them, they save you. What a wonderful thing.

If you're looking for someone with a genuine love of and connection to cats, who is very experienced with cat behavior and health issues, and who is supremely trustworthy and reliable - look no further than Drew. Before I met Drew I spent so much time on Yelp contacting other pet sitters in the area and they all seemed like they were mostly dog-oriented and just tolerated cats and would be only dropping by to make sure my cats were alive. Then I contacted Drew and I knew right away she was special - she actually adores cats and her primary concern is getting to know your cats' individual needs and quirks and providing the best comprehensive care possible while putting your mind at ease with daily checks-ins and photos. (She also owns a photography business and you can hire her for an epic pet photo session!) Drew regularly takes care of my guys, whether I'm busy for one day or away for a longer trip. Under anyone else's care, I'd worry about their individual dietary and behavioral needs - I have a picky older cat with anxiety and urinary issues, a goofy black cat with a sensitive tummy and a history of eating inedible objects and getting the occasional ear infection, and a young, spunky one-eyed cat who once had an injured leg. Not only has Drew gotten to know each of their personalities and connected with them like they're her own pets (they greet her at the door), she has expertly attended to their occasional extra needs and has on multiple occasions taken the time to talk me through my concerns about their issues. In addition to being a cat owner herself, Drew has experience working at clinics and rescues and volunteers her time at a cat sanctuary so I thoroughly trust her input and consider her a valued care companion and part of our pet family. My cats (and I) absolutely adore Drew and there's just no better feeling when you're away than total peace of mind that your fur family is receiving the best possible care. 5 stars, 10/10. After years of shuttling our dogs to our parents every time we want to travel, my husband and I finally decided that it's time to find a local dog and house sitter. I reached out to Dusty through Yelp and received a very prompt response for availability and to set up a meet and greet. She also provided thorough background checks, proof of insurance, and references (who gave excellent reviews). Her care and thoroughness is very evident. We connected right away during the meet and greet, and my husband and I both felt like we could trust her with our dogs and our home. I provided an extensive list of notes, and she followed them to a T. During our weekend trip, Dusty checked in frequently with updates and photos. I never had to wonder if the dogs were doing okay. Not only did Dusty really care about our dogs' well-being, she also cares about our peace of mind and puts in a lot of effort to relieve our anxieties. I was especially anxious about one of our dog's leash reactivity, and Dusty did a fantastic job managing her surroundings during walks and making sure that they were both safe. Upon our return, the house was in great shape. My only "complaint" is that the dogs didn't seem to miss us at all since they were so busy having fun with Dusty! I got to know Dusty more, and she's an honest, lovely, and creative soul. We plan on being her clients for many years to come.
