This place is awesome! I've been coming here for about 20 years now...Judy and staff are always friendly and very detailed. They'll ask you a lot of questions about your pet so they know how to take care of them. They're are located off grant line...south of Calvine/consumes road. One the ride hand side...when you get to the gate, they have a sign with a number for you to call...and either Judy, or one of the staff will come and open the gate. They can wash your pet (if you pay for it) before you come pick them up. Nothing bad about this place, my dog is always happy coming here! read more

This review is based on the grounds, not the boarding services. I visit this kennel often, as we take our dog to training that meets here frequently. The grounds are great: a large grass field equiped with pools and fresh water, as well as a giant "adventure" area with open fields and ponds for dogs to play in! The area outside the kennel building has obstacles and looks like a doggy playground. The gate is usually kept locked until you call the number posted on the sign, which means more security. Apparently there are pigs and geese that roam the grounds, although in all the times I've been there I've never seen them. I will consider boarding my dog here when we need to, since she LOVES to play here after her classes! read more

I have been trying to reach this Judy gal for over a month now. My mom actually heard about this kennel and reached out to her initially. Apparently, when they connected Judy said she would be happy to speak with me and for me to call her. So I did. I have left four messages over the course of five weeks and no one has ever picked up the phone or retuned my calls. In my last message, I simply asked if someone could at least return my call to let me know they were no longer in business or that they couldn't take our dog for some reason - NO RESPONSE. read more

This place rocks. Old school facilities, and people that just love animals. My greyhound loves to romp in the large open play areas. They take special care to make sure your pet receives special attention tailored to specific needs. Prices are great, too. Last Christmas we had just moved to Elk Grove. We needed last minute accommodations for our wonderful greyhound. The staff bent over backwards to make sure she had a place to stay. If you need to board your pet, this is the place to do it. read more

I decided to contact Duckpond Kennels because of all the glowing reviews here. Was very hopeful to find a good boarding kennel in my area. Unfortunately, the communication is terrible, and I will not be moving forward with these folks. My first call was returned three days after leaving a voice-mail requesting more info. This was Ok since I was not looking to board for a few months. Judy was very specific about what was needed to even come by to see the facility. My Vet's office left two messages (no e-mail @ Duckpond) to get a fax to send requested shot records. NO return call! I advised them to mail records. I waited 2 weeks and then called again to see if records were received and to make an orientation visit. No return call! Called again 1 week later, left message. NO return call! This woman was very upfront about having established clients and not really needing new customers. OK fine...then don't have my Vet office refer people your way. Really kinda snooty attitude towards prospective customers and a very poor business person. You said you had other staff...so someone can return phone calls! If you don't want new customers, say so on your voice-mail (phone never answered live)! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! read more

Great place for dogs. Acreage property securely fenced in. Clean kennels. When I first saw the grounds I thought this would be a dogs dream. Lot's of land, a pond and all. Nice people. I wish they had a website but this place doesn't need it. From what I was told most of their business comes from referrals. I have referred a few friends myself. When we head out of town this is the only place we call. Just make sure to call in advance if possible especially on holidays. Pricing is reasonable. read more

I have been bringing my dog(s) to Duckpond Kennels for over 15 years. (2 different dogs) I love that every run has indoor AND outdoor space. I can bring my dog's favorite bed and toys. My dog gets opportunities to run around in a large fenced grassy yard at no extra charge. They also offer "Big Adventures" for a fee. Supervised time in a HUGE fenced field complete with pond. I have high energy dogs and they love the Big Adventures. My dog comes home happy and tired. Love this place! read more

I have been boarding my dogs here for about 25 years. Judy Pond is awesome and is the only person I would trust my babies to. The staff is great! There is an inside and outside run and a large yard for play time. ( but only with socialized dogs of the same age group). As I have 2 dogs now, this is great as they can have play time together. I have a large Pressa Canario and a large English Bull dog ( 10 1/2 yr old and 5 yr old) When we arrive , the staff is comfortable handling them both. This was important to me as some people are uncomfortable with the larger breed dog. Judy does a through check before accepting dogs to board. She also makes sure dogs are up to date with their vaccinations, having you bring or fax the papers to her before boarding. Can't say enough about how much I love this place!! read more

Judy Pond has taken care of 3 of our dogs over years and this is by far the best kennel I've ever known. Our dogs have always been happy when we've picked them up so they are being taken care of very well. They have room to play at times during the day and the staff are very caring. Their bathing and grooming are very well done too. We drive a ways to bring our dog here but Duckpond is worth it. We've been boarding our dogs here since the 1990s and will always do so. read more

We first found Duckpond 15 years ago when we needed to board our beloved dog Jake for our honeymoon. No ordinary kennel would do, of course! Leaving our "first child" behind to sit in a concrete jail cell all 24/7 and paying extra to let him out to play were simply not going to work. We looked at EVERY kennel in the greater Sacramento area. Nothing was acceptable. We were so happy to find Duckpond, where there is grass to run on, indoor/outdoor kennels, and no upcharge for letting our boy out to play as much as he needed. They DO have the "big adventure" add-on, which we go for nearly every time! Our one dog soon became two, and we happily boarded them together at Duckpond for many years. Those two sweeties are no longer with us, and we have a "special" new girl with us, who is well cared for and always remembered by Judy and her staff. They always have room for her when we call, and they always remember her and the particular needs she has. We never worry with our dog in Judy's care, and she always comes home happy. This place is the best! I had taken my Labradoodle to other kennels and they were not what I expected or thought would be a good fit for Maggies high energy levels. She loves to run and play with the other dogs in the large doggie playground area and play in the adventure area too. After we picked her up from her first stay here she did not want to leave and was well-behaved and listened the first time when called. We are definately coming back. Simply the best boarding facilities anywhere. I have been boarding dogs with Judy Pond at the Duck Pond Kennels for over 20 years and it is my dogs' favorite place to be. First, Judy is so knowlegeable about dogs and her love for them is so apparent in everything she does. Her kennels are clean with indoor/outdoor access, her staff are carefully selected and Judy is thorough about the dogs' care. When dropping them off, she reviews all of their needs and ensures everyone is up to date on shots and fecal screenings. Judy has two park areas - one smaller (which is actually pretty big) and big country, which is a couple of acres with sloped ponds in it. Her fences are very secure and dug deeply into the ground so dogs can neither jump over or dig out of her property. One of the things that I especially love about Judy, aside from the wonderful person that she is, is that she takes the time to observe your dog and find play partners for your dog. I had a Siberian Husky who loved people but not other dogs so she made sure that he always had lots of human interaction and play time. My little dog always gets the right mix of older playmates to ensure his stay is full fun, happiness and exercise. When I first took Judy my German Shepard as a puppy she knew exactly what kind of dog she is and what she needed in terms of training and exercise. Judy is hardworking and she knows her business and her business is dogs. If you want excellent care for your dog then take them to the Duck Pond. You'll never have to worry about them while there. They'll come home freshly bathed, tired and happy. read more
