I live in Lantana and our entire subdivision was hit hard by the March 14 hailstorm. I was contacted by Corey Sturm(he painted my house in 2022) and Corey wanted to inspect our house.Corey was knowledgeable about insurance coverage and was very thorough in inspecting every item on our house exterior that was hail damaged. We received a check from our insurance company that covered the roof, pergola cover, garage doors, gutters, screens and metal roof. Corey contacted all the contractors we used and scheduled them to do all the work needed. Jeff Hall and an associate, Laurie Arnold, both from Excel Construction Group, made a cold call at my home in Dallas last month. They "claimed" they could see that I desperately needed a new roof and that they could get it for me...that they were "specialists" with negotiating with insurance companies and could practically "guarantee" me getting a new roof. I've been thru this drill before w/ other roofers over the last 5 years (I still have my original roof of 11 years) but I said 'go for it', so he climbed around on the roof for a few minutes, and then they contacted my insurance company on the spot to file a claim, which meant my insurance company would send out an inspector. Mr. Hall told me to let him know as soon as an inspection date was set. A week later the date and time were set, and I sent multiple texts to Mr. Hall giving him date and time of inspection, and to which he had assured me he and his companies' adjuster would be there at the inspection to argue their point as to why I needed a new roof. Mr. Hall NEVER responded to any of my text messages, and on the date of inspection, HE WAS A NO-SHOW, again not responding to any of my text messages. The insurance company inspector and his inspection was very thorough, and he sat down w/ me w detailed photos of my roof, showing why I didn't need a new roof...he was great, very detail oriented and precise. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! There are a lot of them out there, and a few really good ones...but Excel is NOT one of them. Beware! read more

Not really sure how to rate this or describe it, but about three quarters of the way through my claim I lost all contact with Excel's representative. A few weeks later a got a call from another gentleman saying he was in charge of the original contact and would be finishing my claim. It has been more than a month since then and no contact. The job was nearing completion with a few details not done. It's just really unprofessional to cease contact all together. Would not recommend at all for lack of communication. read more

I was referred to Excel by a co-worker that had recently had a new roof installed. He had nothing but good comments about them and highly recommended the company and the project manager (Cory). I decided to give them a call to have them come out to take a look at my roof. Project managers Cory and Kyle came out and did an extensive inspection of my roof and took pictures for documentation. After their inspection, they reviewed their findings with me. They helped coordinate with my insurance company on my claim for hail and wind damage. They met with the insurance inspector when he came out to do his assessment and showed him all of their findings. After the insurance company originally rejected my claim, they helped to walk me through my various options for next steps. After a second inspection by my insurance company, the claim was rejected again. Cory and Kyle felt very strongly that my roof was damaged beyond repair and should be replaced. They then referred me to a public adjuster to coordinate the next steps of the claim process. A third inspection was requested by the public adjuster and the claim was again rejected by the insurance company. The final step was to do a joint appraisal between an appraiser selected by my insurance company, and another recommended by my public adjustor. As a result of the appraisal process, my insurance company FINALLY approved a new roof. Cory and his team were able to get me scheduled for the new roof install with a couple of weeks. Cory and his team were extremely professional during the entire 2.5-day project. They showed up on time and worked until dark each day. They draped all of my landscaping next to house to help prevent damage. The end product roof looks amazing! As a project manager, Cory showed up early each day and kept me up to speed on the project. One of the things I liked most about Cory is how responsive he was via text messaging. He was VERY professional and respectful of my time. The only negatives with my project: even though my landscaping in the backyard was tarped and covered, it did get a little trampled during the project. This was my only complaint. Overall, I was VERY happy with the job they did, and will definitely consider them for a kitchen remodel project that I have planned for the near future. Phillip, Laurie Arnold, and Tray got my roof done. I was very happy with the quality of work, the only out of pocket expense was my deductible. They came out 4 times before the job, including when the insurance adjuster came out, when my solar was removed, and one of them was here during the entire build. They also came out a week later just to make sure I was completely satisfied. They seemed to have all their ducks in a row, they got the entire roof done in a day. I checked on the progress throughout, and saw the work they were doing. I inspected everything after they left and did not find anything that I was unhappy about. Phillip is also a Navy Veteran, so its nice to see them hiring Vets. read more

I've had my roof for 6 months-I'm now having another company put a new roof on bc of the recent storm-that roofer Let me know that I had an upgrade and could qualify for that on my insurance(that's how I found out recently) I paid to have my roof upgraded in November, so that my insurance would have a discount on it, Ive tried getting them to fill out the paper needed-stating what class of shingle I have. Their employee accused me of asking her to forge documents. so I then call her boss-he told me that she hasn't been with the company long and was very apologetic saying that my roof does qualify for the discount on my insurance. said he was mailing it to me as soon as we hung up. A week later still nothing In the mail, after calling every day Greg finally answered one of my many calls-then told me that the roof doesn't qualify. Told me if I can provide proof that my shingle is a class 3 then he would gladly fill that paper out. Why is that I would have to do his job in order to get paper of the shingles I do in fact have-it's his job to go over the paper work yet they want the customer who isn't a roofer to do the work for them. I unfortunately contracted Excel to replace my roof and to create an enormous backyard living area estimated to cost $95,000. Excel required 1/3 payment up front, and after 4 months of lies and misinformation, nothing had been accomplished. They finally replaced the roof, but they left the job unfinished, and did not complete the replacement of the shingles over my patio. After numerous calls to request that they finish the patio roof, at the very least, and after multiple promises from them that shingles had been ordered, again...nothing was done! I lost a lot of money on two projects that they never completed... Do not call Excel if you want a job done right...or even done at all, for that matter. read more

I would NEVER recommend this business or any of their branches in the DFW metroplex! Recently Excel Construction Group started soliciting their services to my elderly mother and it was an absolutely horrible experience! They are snake oil salesmen and charlatans that only want to make money fraudulently and will try to bully you into services that you don't actually need. After they just showed up at my mother's door w/ an unsolicited sales pitch stop (not cool!). We decided to go ahead and ask them for a quote on one repair item. We were very clear on our singular specific need and asked that they deal only and directly w/ our project manager. The salesman not only aggressively disrespected our project manager and tried to push his own sales agenda on him/my mother, but after behaving terribly unprofessional/inappropriately we asked him to leave and never come back. He then actually had the audacity to return later in the same day, with a cohort, and tried to bully my mother into multiple 6 figure services and trash talked our project manager! Who actually thinks this is how you should conduct business!? Needless to say, we have already found someone else who is legit and highly professional and we will NEVER use the Excel Construction group for any services! If they try to just show up again, we will call the police as they were asked to leave and it will be considered trespassing should they return. read more

We called them for roof estimate. Greg Herndon, Divisional Manager, came out as promised on a Thursday. Very nice. Said not really enough damage for insurance claim to pay but we know the language to help get it done. Also wanted to strengthen wood around the chimney. Had a little play and he said a huge gust of wind could knock it down. Roofing and construction company that can do it all. I had told him through insurance or not, we were going to do this. But he was willing to try to deal with insurance he just need to draw up contract. I will let you know next week. Had other bids still working. I called on the next Tuesday and left a message on Greg's phone stating "Lets do this". Then nothing... Called Friday at end of the week, same message to same guy. Nothing. I finally called the general phone number following week and asked if Greg still worked there and was told yes. I explained what was going on to receptionist and she said I will contact someone named Todd, to reach out to us. Nothing the whole week. Now I am upset. Business must be really good to ignore customers. I hope the owners Felix Salinas and his daughter Meagan Salinas know how they are dropping the ball. I really don't complain and just move on but this was a big deal. Very unprofessional. read more

I love this company would highly recommend they did my roof and a few weeks after a storm had hit and I had a small leak they were very fast with coming out and fixing the problem witch I was impressed with. Unfortunately the leak wasn't the roof but the rotten wood on my chimney and they happily solved my issue with no hesitation even though it wasn't their problem! I would definitely recommend this company. They treated us like family. This was one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor! During a roof inspection with my insurance company, the adjuster wanted to stay under my deductible and claim my roof only needed minor repairs. Thanks to Excel Construction, they attended and participated in the inspection and was an advocate for me as the home owner. Afterwards, the roof was reinspected by a third party which claimed that my roof needed to be replaced. Now the insurance company is replacing my roof. Thanks Excel Construction! read more

On 3/6/20, we notified Excel Construction Group (Trey & Ashley) that we had chosen their company for roof replacement on our house and gazebo. Trey & Ashley came over to discuss the details of the contract and we picked out the color of shingles and discussed painting of our gutters to match the color of trim on our house since we had just had our house painted on the outside. On 3/21/20, our roofs were replaced and the roofers did a great job in replacing the roofs and cleaning up after their job was completed. On 3/25/20, the gutters and downspouts were installed; however, the color did not match and several gutters and boards were damaged during the installation process. We reached out to Trey who contacted the Manager of the gutter company who agreed to come out and replace the damage boards and gutters. He shared that he could not find the identical color of gutters and that we needed to contact Excel to get a painter to come out to paint the gutters to match the trim on our house. We then reached out to Trey requesting to have our gutters painted and we received major "push back" from Trey. As a result, on 3/30/20, we contacted our insurance company (Allstate) about the issue with our gutters and we also reached out to Excel. On 4/8/20, Excel Construction Group finally sent a painter out to paint our gutters and downspout as previously agreed upon back on 3/6/20. The roofers and the painter did an excellent job; however, we were very disappointed in Trey's leadership skills. He possessed a negative attitude, poor communication skills and he was more focus on making money for his company rather than satisfying the customer. The subcontractors were fantastic but we will not be able to recommend Excel Construction Group going forward due to their lack of work ethics by some of their key personnel. read more
