They only allow a 2 hour window for preemployment drug screens and the staff looked like they were not happy to be there.

After seeing many specialists over a period of years, we discovered that I had a condition that is not well known. Others with my condition complain of doctors not believing it's an actual condition; insurance companies have yet to give it a diagnostic code. Dr. Kriscuinas didn't dismiss it; instead he did his own research and confirmed my situation. He has referred me to the few doctors who are educated in this area, supports the surgery and therapy plan they recommended, and provides me with the referrals and letters to my insurance company that are often needed. This is no "drive by" service; Dr. K. Is engaged and committed to my well being. Again, blessed to have him on my side and advocating on my behalf. His assistant, Lisa, has the same level of professionalism, dedication to patient well being, and compassion. Often Lisa is the one who has to run liaison for my needs. She is always responsive, and there have been times she has jumped tall buildings to get things done! Lisa is always cheerful, encouraging and shows genuine interest in me as a patient. While the staff doesn't always portray this same level service, it doesn't affect my rating. I know they are dealing with the phone calls, scheduling, insurance, and so I just give grace. The most important interaction and relationship is with my doctor, not the receptionist and office staff, and I will stay with Dr. Kriscuinas until the day he retires. He has been my primary for 18 years and I have never received the level of care and support from any other primary. I've recommended Dr. Kriscuinas to several friends and they have all had the same experience and have been with him for years.

She refused to issue some of the referrals I needed and was condescending and inconsiderate. I specifically asked her to refer me to OHSU and she was commenting that the wait might be months out, so she would refer me somewhere else as well for the mean time. I made the very reasonable comment "Sure, because I might be totally healed by the time OHSU can see me!" (because my condition usually lasts weeks or months). She looked at me and said "Well, we can't see the future, can we". I have a family friend who owns a respected alternative medicine practice. He has experience and has seen positive outcomes treating Bell's Palsy with infusion therapy and recommended it. I asked Bryhana Charles for a referral and she looked at me like I was an idiot and asked in a demeaning tone "Well is there even research behind it?". She responded similarly when I repeatedly asked for an acupuncture referral, even though I have read that it does show positive results for BP. She refused to issue either of those referrals and now I have to be seen again to make that happen, which I don't have time for with a new baby and my condition. I understand if as a PA she is ethically unable to make referrals for a service that she hasn't studied the evidence for. I just wish she could have responded respectfully. Zero congratulations or even recognition that I had just had a baby. She was overall very impersonal.

Easy, no appointment necessary, for lab work, part of the Providence network…read more After a doctor appointment on the first floor, the doctor requested lab work. I assumed I needed to head up the street to St. Vincent's Medical Center or the East Pavilion, but the doctor said, just go up to the 2nd floor and give them this paperwork. I said, 2nd floor of the Medical Center? No, just take the elevator up one floor. Note, building is in the process of getting painted so there were no signs (4/8/24.) After walking up and down a long hallway with no success, I stopped in a pediatric office and the receptionist told me the lab was in the hallway directly in front of the elevator. Walk across from the elevator, hallway goe off to right, about half way down on the right is LabCorp. The hallways are very sterile with small signage. Once inside, you do a self check in at the kiosk. The machine couldn't read my insurance card, no idea why, so I had to manually type in all the info. This happened to several other people so it definitely warrants being fixed. After that, I took a seat and waited my turn. Some people had set up an appointment so they were in front of me. There is a screen with people's initials so you can see where you are in the queue. My wait was about ten minutes. A little soft background music in the waiting area would enhance the environment. The technician was friendly, efficient, and most important, skilled. Hit the vein first time even though I was a bit dehydrated, and a minute later, done. I have an order for a repeat test for early June, and now that I know this lab exists, I'll stop here. There is a parking lot right out front, easy exit off 26, very convenient.

When I got the collection…read morecontainers I had to present my ID, insurance cards, etc. I watched them enter the info into the computer, just as I had watched the receptionist in my doctor's office enter it moments before. I was told I had to have an appointment to be allowed to drop off the samples. Seemed odd, but ok. I couldn't be sure when I could collect the samples, some of which were time sensitive, so I collected the samples before trying to make an appt. When I tried to make an appointment there were none available for the time-sensitive materials I had just collected. Now What? I tried to call to ask what I was sposed to do. First I was dropped into the general Legacy Health System where I was on hold for about ten minutes listening to a long message "if this then that, if that then this, if the other thing, then the other, Covid information, Covid immunization information, if this than that again, etc. etc.," finally got to select the number for my need, where I again waited about 10 minutes, again sitting through "if this then that, if that, then this, if the other thing, then the other, Covid this, Covid that, etc. etc., When a human finally answered I was transferred to the lab where once again I sat through "if this then that, if that, then this, if the other thing, then the other, etc. etc.," for another10-12 minutes. No one from the lab ever answered. Since I had already collected the specimens I decided just to drive to the lab before the clock ran out. I hoped someone with common sense would accept them. At the lab no one seemed to care that I didn't have the mandatory appointment. They asked for all of the same information they had entered into the computer less than 24 hrs before. I explained the confusion I'd experienced when I couldn't make the mandatory appointment in time to meet the lab deadline. The receptionist said, like I'm a little slow "well, if you have a specimen to drop off you don't really need an appointment!" I suggested it would be helpful if there was a note adjacent to the online appointment link stating that lab specimens could be dropped off even if no appointments were available. The receptionist shrugged, said he has nothing to do with that. This is the first time I've dealt with the Legacy system. I liked the new specialist I saw, I was thinking about becoming a Legacy patient. Nah. Can't get through on the phone, told an appt was required, but couldn't make one, and staff who are unconcerned with the patient's experience in the Legacy system. I sure hope Legacy lab staff's systems and personnel are more responsive than I experienced in my efforts to get there.
