If you live anywhere near this park you should take advantage of it. They have a walking trail/sidewalk that circles the park. They also have work out equipment/stations along the trail that people are able to use. The park is always well maintained and clean. I see all kinds of people out here. To play sports. To do Yoga. There's often a Camp Gladiator group. People with their dogs. Their kids. Etc. It's a great place to get your fitness on, or to just chill under some shade trees. PS - comes check it out during Christmas when the neighborhood decorates a bunch of Christmas trees. It's very festive.

This review is over a span of 45 years! Yikes! Four decades ago this area was headed for a hard economic decline. This park was a long forgotten playground for generations of children past and little used. After filling the role of a cornerstone community at the turn of the 20th Century, the once-massive homes became rooming houses on the edge of downtown. The quaint 1920s buildings that housed dry goods and corner groceries fell into decay. Then in the 1980s at the point of economic obsolescence, Dallas developers moved in as they are inclined and scooped up the property at rock bottom prices. Today after many cycles of tearing down and building new, little remains of the old charm of this area. However, it's nice to see its optimal use being gained once again, for new generations 100 years later. I've watched all this happen but coincidentally have a story about this park. In the 1970s when the area was at rock bottom, this park was more likely to have "winos" and bums languishing about than children playing or families picnicking. Enter me and my naivete at a young age. I had a girlfriend that worked at Greybar electric on the edge of downtown. I would occasionally pick her up for lunch and one day thought id arrange a picnic. Really not knowing much about the area, we pulled into this park, threw out the blanket and I noticed we may not want to be here. Being young though I wasn't too worried and throwing caution to the wind we had our lunch etc. About that time I heard a tremendous commotion coming from the street. Yelling, music, a huge crowd walking along. I jumped up to see what was going on and came face to face with Mohamed Ali! No doubt about it I knew immediately who it was and stepped aside as the parade whisked through the park and out of sight. The next day I saw in the news paper he was in town. I still find it hard to believe. I also find it hard to believe this area is again, vital to the life of my changing city. I love renewel!

This park is surprisingly well-kept for a public venue. A clean, functional playground; plenty of poop pick-up stations; a half-mile path that frames a spacious grassy area, a baseball diamond, Exall rec center, and a basketball/volleyball (B.Y.O.Net) court; plenty of trees all around for shade; and ample free parking along Bryan St: truly, what more could you ask for in a park? If you're looking for a more enclosed dog park, you need only go 2 blocks south on Oak St. from Live Oak St. It's so nice to see more people out there now that sports seasons are beginning and temperatures are tolerable.

Very nice park. Well maintained! There is exercise equipment along the walking/jogging path so elevate your workout experience. There is a grassy area large enough to run, sit in the grass, play soccer, touch or flag football, or for group exercise. There is a baseball/softball area, a kids play area, and plenty of seating and tables to eat or read on. This is a great park if you live near the Arts District or Deep Ellum. Very dog friendly as well!

Known mostly to neighboring locals, this park is a beautiful and relaxing oasis in near East Dallas. It's close to wealthy historic districts, working class neighborhoods, and low rent apartments, and the crowd reflects that diversity. It's always calm and peaceful, and I think the nearby neighborhood, Bryan Place, helps maintain the beautiful landscaping. There are always families playing with their children on the quaint playground and people walking around the trail that lines the perimeter. Lately, I either go to Exall Park or Main Street Garden (free parking after 6pm!) to unwind with a book after a long day's work. Love these urban parks.

Finally, a park with trees! The only reason this is not a five star review is because I wish there were a few grills available! (Maybe they are hidden? *hoping*) I love that there are just enough large trees to offer shade at the tables or on the grass for the hot Dallas summers. And it is so beautifully quiet! Not too crowded at all, with a few runners and lots of dog walkers enjoying the common space. There are teams that play sports there occasionally, as well as I think some yoga classes, organized by the recreation building. It's a perfectly convenient place for an afternoon picnic with your favorite pooch and a good book! So happy to have it nearby.

This is a nice park in the middle of the day. I spent about an hour here on a friday afternoon while waiting to pick someone up downtown. The park is spacious enough and has a playing field on it. It also has a kids section and people bring their pets for a walk. I'm sure the surrounding neighborhood really appreciates the green space. Parking can be an issue... but its a nice place.

I love this park. It's never over crowded and it's very well maintained. The walking track is enjoyable and there's plenty of space for a game of catch or a walk with the dog. They have basketball courts and a softball field also. The park is full of locals that walk there. It's one of the better parks on Dallas!

From the floodplain of the Trinity River, you can see all the bright lights of Big D. Downtown Dallas has two bridges designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Santiago Calatravas. There's one at each end of the trail here. There's no restrooms here along this trail. No shade from trees. The area around the Trinity has been mowed to keep things visible, and a concrete path to follow. There's a map at the trail head that walks you through the features of the Trinity river valley. This place is generally pretty sketchy at night- there's a place you can pull off the road and park and make out or whatever those people are doing in their cars. It seems like a fantastic place to meet some shady characters late at night. I wouldn't hike past sundown. I went walking alone through the trail, and I'm pretty sure I made some of the other joggers uncomfortable when there was nobody else around... I'd have felt much more comfortable on a bike.

On our first trip out, we only walked the half mile leg of the trail between the Trinity Overlook and the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. Street parking was easy at the Overlook. There weren't a lot of spaces but there also weren't a lot of cars. I think most people start from one of the other trailheads. The views from the overlook are nice, but not as nice as the views from the pedestrian bridge. It would probably be more exciting at night. From the overlook we descended down a steep hill to the trail. The path is a little rocky but still adequate for running, assuming you have good shoes. This definitely isn't a trail for you barefoot runners! I can't speak for the rest of it, but this portion of the trail was NOT LIT, so it wouldn't be an early morning or night run option without a flashlight (and a taser). It is roughly a flat half mile from the overlook to the bridge and it is beautiful. There are views of both the Margaret McDermott and Margaret Hunt Hill bridges, the Trinity River, and the Dallas Skyline. Walking the trail in early April, everything was vibrantly green and absolutely stunning. We hopped off the trail to walk down the Ronald Kirk pedestrian bridge. On a Friday mid morning in the midst of Coronavirus quarantine, the bridge was sparsely populated - just a few people here and there running, biking, or walking their dogs. I see from previous reviewers that it is normally quite lively, which will be a fun thing to go back and experience, but it was also nice to have the bridge mostly to ourselves and peacefully take in the 360 degree views. The Trinity Skyline trail and the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian bridge come together to make a true urban oasis. Go check it out!

My last three trips were for this year's Memorial Day activities in support of Carry the Load. This park comes to a new life when there is a large event such as the very noble Carry the Load. Reverchon's beautiful greenery, powerful oaks and gentle rolling meadows are accented with the dark reddish sandstone walls and structures that soothes the soul. It is almost like a slice of Eden.To see this impressive park comfort those grieving as they remember the fallen military, police, fire and other first responders validates its role as a magnanimous friend. It fosters the catharsis and healing needed by many. The trip up and down from the Katy trail (which is high above) can be as challenging as you want to achieve and as beautiful as you want to view. I like the winding stone steps. There are observation terraces, conversation pits, and nature everywhere. It is shielded by quiet Dallas high rises just far enough away. The quiet serenity at night is in contrast to its vibrant life during the day. It retains the natural attraction whether it is a hand full of park goers to over ten thousand. It's great for the dogs, kids and oldtimers like me. There are some sport facilities for the team sport athletes. And of course there are the trails. There is a lack of immediate parking which I think helps retain its natural beauty . There are lots and streets to park if you decide not to go on foot. The adjoining recreation center has all you could want or need. The food and drink options are not too far away and some are world renown. It's listed as 1.6-miles long, but it's unclear which parts of the trail equal that distance. The trail-head is located at the southern end of Bexar Street. Plan to go when you can also visit Bonton Farms, located where you'll park. Bonton Farms is open Mon-Fri 9:30-3:30 and Sat 9-noon. If you remember bug spray, the Texas Buckeye Trail provides an enjoyable walk through some dense growth approaching the banks of the Trinity River. There's a concrete path and a narrow, well-marked, trail that, not surprisingly, was muddy in parts. Near the river, the trail was closed (caution-taped off) because of all the recent rains, so we couldnt get to the Buckeye Grove. On the concrete path there is a barrier blocking the last part which leads to the river. (See Tim O.'s picture) When the river had one of its floods, the banks were washed away causing the sidewalk to collapse (see my photo). Potentially dangerous, yes, which is why it's blocked. Hopefully access to river views will be re-engineered and re-introduced in the near future.
