The tree removal work covered 2 days which was more than enough time to cover any issues that may have come up but didn't. Communication was efficient and expedient. If clarity was needed by phone Alexis was always available during business hours when at the store. My 4 trees removal was quoted to take 2 whole days but was completed early. Alexis and his work crew were fantastic all the way through. They arrived as scheduled and earlier than on time each day. The crew showed exceptional teamwork and were very easy to communicate with. They were respectful of the property and left the yard looking better in the areas they worked than when they first started. I will definitely seek out Alexis and his work crew again when I have future tree care and landscaping needs.

Fast forward to this year (I purchased the extended care for a year) in the spring, I noticed that one of the large trees they planted the previous year, looked like it was not doing well. I was within the one year guarantee and Sy from the Gilroy store came out to look at the tree and agreed that it actually needed to be replaced!!!! So he sent a better replacement tree than I actually purchased the first time!!!! He sent Santos Garcia and his crew to replace the tree and they went above and beyond with replanting and returning the area around the tree to look like nothing was ever replanted, so kudos to the crew!!!! Moon Valley thanks so much for a job well done!!!

Beautiful quality, incredibly healthy, already nearly taller than the established shrubs, and very reasonably priced at $129. They helped load it, answered questions, and made the whole process easy. All I have left to do is widen the hole I already dug. You can see a dip in the existing row from an earlier Photinia replacement several years ago from Costco. Love Costco but sometimes you don't want to wait. Thanks Chris!

I spoke with a friend about our experiences at Johnson's, and we both agreed, it feels like walking into an old western saloon where everyone knows "you ain't from around these parts!" I was looking to buy a magnolia, but wanted to know what the differences were, which is better for our environment, so I approached an employee who tried to avoid eye contact with me until he could do it no longer. He started stammering when I asked if he knew anything about the trees I had considered contenders. He fumbled with his walky-talky to try to find someone else to help me, but spotted (who I found out later was the manager) watering plants in the vicinity. He asked her if she could help and she replied rudely with "WHAT?" as she clearly saw me (the customer) asking a question. He stammered nervously and she followed up with "What do you want?" I jumped in and asked my questions about which is best and she said, "They're all pretty much the same." I asked if any were better for our climate/environment and she said with an attitude, "We don't sell anything that doesn't grow around here." She then curtly turned away and went on with watering the plants. I did not feel copacetic with her "customer service," so I bought my tree and decided not to go back. I would rather go to an establishment with less selection, but better service. Also, the prices are on the higher side for some things, but reasonable for others, it just depends on what it is. Either way, Home Depot works for me from now on, and if they don't have what I want, I'll research somewhere other than Johnson's. It's a shame, too, because the place is like walking through a botanical garden, only the vibe given by the staff is that "it ain't big enough for the both of us!"

They also have unusual edible trees like fig tree and pomegranate tree. Nancy was super friendly and knowledgeable when I called. I was looking for a specific ornamental grasses, and even though that's not something she carries, she put me in touch with people that are. On top of that, she gave me great online resource to look for alternatives grasses so what I plant in my own yard would not be an invasive species to California. Ok, just one more thing. Talk about going above and beyond to a customer that didn't even buy anything, she even introduced me to a contact that does tree grafting via email. This level of customer service and just genuine kindness is very appreciated and that's what prompted me to write a stellar review!

Great quality plants, family run business, friendly folks. I love getting trees here. Acres of trees to get lost in surrounded by beautiful country. They were usually quite terse and make it very clear that they are a wholesaler and do not deal with the public. After confirming they had the plants I was looking for, my gardener went to buy them. The day they were there to buy, a large portion of their nursery was closed for spraying so they were only able to get a few of the ones I wanted. I was really shocked at the condition of the trees. They were supposed to be 15 gal trees but more like 5 gal plants in larger pots. The gardeners went back a few days later when the rest of the lot was open to get the remaining trees I wanted. The same plants were much larger and healthier. I called the nursery about the sad condition of the trees bought initially and asked if they could do something about them. I was asked to send pictures... it's been weeks since the pictures were sent but never heard back from them. Take a look at the sad trees... two of $70 15 gal orange trees dies after 2 weeks. Home depot has healthier ones for less price.
