I'd like to start off with, I as a customer do not need to talk to a manager/owner to manage my…read moreexperience at their place of business. Especially if those experiences are integrated into their piercing practices as a whole. I as everybody else have the right to my opinion and what happened to us in their place of business. Here's a couple red flags I've noticed throughout the appointment. 1. They did not check the form for allergies nor did the front desk person tell the body piercer about the allergies that my friend who got pierced expressed to them about Latex. Mistakes happen but can be something that depending on the persons severity to the allergy could harm somebody. 2. They use the same marker on multiple clients, they claim to "sterilize" it by soaking it in a chemical but the marker touching multiple people on their skin is unsanitary even if they do alcohol the persons body before placing the mark. 3. The piercer had an open energy drink in their room, non water drinks in a "sterile" environment are unsanitary. 4. When they reset up the tray after laying latex gloves on it, they chemically treated the tray again however didn't wear gloves when laying down the cover for the tray and other items. 5. The piercer after piercing my friends lip ran the used needle back through the fresh hole to transfer the jewelry rather than use a taper, this is painful to the person getting pierced and also dangerous to the piercer if somehow they accidentally get poked with it. Once a needle is used it should not be put back in through the persons body, it's just pure gross. When asked if it was possible for them to use a taper they simply stated that they were not trained that way. 6. They do not use saline solution/clean your piercing after piercing you, they will apply dry cotton swabs and dry paper to your piercing to stop the bleeding. It's unnerving that they do not provide this kind of aftercare, not only is a fresh piercing in need of some kind of moisture but rubbing a dry cotton on it is super irritating. They will tell you to use antibacterial soap on the outside and give you some salt in a cup to make your own saline at the end of the appointment. I'd like to share that this studio has some things about it that make it charming, the overall ambiance is old school tattoo parlor with beautiful pin ups everywhere. Knowing the price point of the this studio with their jewelry included "surgical steel", you genuinely get what you pay for which is as the consumer I can take full responsibility for. Everybody has the right to perform SAFE and ETHICAL body art, at this studio it's very straight to the point. They were upfront about the pricing and the jewelry they used when asked. Customer service isn't a priority here, I could tell that the person in the front didn't have her heart in the practice of body art or the customers safety in mind. The piercer was kind and reassuring, I could tell she was a little annoyed when I asked lots of questions and asked for alternative methods. After asking about the marker they were quick to give me an answer as to why it's "okay" rather than offer a different solution when they would tell we were second guessing the experience. This made us feel like this business wasn't open to feedback nor willing to "hear it". It's hard to see the business owner be unkind to people who have had negative experiences in their business, if this is type of business you run should be accepting of this feedback and tell people straight up "you get what you paid for" rather than ask they speak with you first before leaving a bad review. I'm sorry that our experience was so poor, hopefully in the future this studio can improve and make the changes to keep their customers safe.

Back in July, 2023, I went to My Religion Tattoo to have a "book" and the word "READ" tattooed on…read morethe back of my left hand, plus the word "PLAY" tattooed above the "musical note" I already had on the back of my right hand. The tattooist was Marcus. Everything looked fine when they were finished (Photos 1 & 2), and a month or so later I returned for a touch up on both words, as the lettering had begun to spread and lose definition. The book and note were fine. Shortly thereafter, though, I noticed some swelling on both words and went back to My Religion, where--as far as I can remember--I was told that some swelling was to be expected and to just wait. Flash forward several more months (I'm guessing December, 2023) and the "swelling" had become so prominent (Photos 3 & 4) that it interfered with a photoshoot I was involved with (Even makeup couldn't disguise it--it looked like embossed stationery!) And, as far as I can tell, it continues to get worse. So, later that month I returned again to My Religion and was told that what I was experiencing was probably due to an allergy to the red ink--of which I most certainly was not informed initially--and that nothing, really could be done about it. The "possibility" of laser surgery correcting it was mentioned. And, that was it. I asked my dermatologist about this and they said nothing could be done. I'm especially concerned that the words will eventually become unreadable! So, I have two complaints: One, Marcus should have mentioned that *some* people were allergic to the mercury in red ink, and I certainly would have considered a different color; and, two, some sympathy from the person I spoke in December with would have gone a long way toward mollifying me.

That was disappointing, especially since I had arrived on time. I went in for a pedicure and wanted a white polish, but I was told they were out of white. While I believed her, I've honestly never had a nail salon run out of such a basic color before, so I had to choose a random shade that I ended up not liking. The pedicure itself was fine, but my technician was on the phone for most of the appointment, which made the experience feel impersonal. I originally found this salon through a TikTok recommendation. Later, I realized the creator worked nearby and appeared to know the owner--he even stopped in during my appointment to ask to borrow staples. That made me question how unbiased the recommendation really was. This salon has a lot of potential, but the customer service fell short. I was the only customer there, yet I still felt overlooked and uncomfortable. Between the paid parking, the price of the service, and the overall experience, I don't feel it was worth the cost.

Michael L. 11/19/2015 For the past 35 years I had a vision of the perfect Taurus tattoo. I had searched tattoo parlors and the websites. Couldn't find anything that captured my vision. In 2014 on one of our frequent trips to the Peppermill in Reno. Me and my wife decided to stop in Evolution tattoo shop. We were greeted by friendly staff and the shop was very professional. Spoke with a staff member of what I wanted but was unable to express my vision. In December 2014 I found the perfect tattoo on the internet. Living in San Jose we searched tattoo parlors in San Jose, Milpitas, Fremont, Sunnyvale, Oakland, Fresno and Sacramento. Then me and my wife decided to wait till November 2015 for our next trip to Reno to visit Evolution. On our trip we stopped in and was greeted by Johnny. I showed him the picture of the Taurus and set up a appointment for the next day. Coming in the next day I was very impressed he had a stencil already prepared. While working on the tattoo we conversated about our families. Before I knew it he was done. I looked at it in the mirror and it brought a tear to my eye for he had far exceeded the vision I had for the past 35 years. I highly recommend Johnny. I also will be returning in February 2016 for my 25th wedding anniversary to renew our vows and will be getting a remembrance tattoo of my mothers passing. they're very unorganized and inconsistent. I've been trying to get a tattoo here for weeks now and have been left hanging. I've been trying to set an appointment but I'm not sure if they even do those, they just put me on a stand by list and never hit me back up. They don't bother calling back or even answering the phone sometimes. And I feel like I've been pretty patient with it. I've gotten a tattoo here before and had a decent experience (apart from the tattoo artist seeming pretty distracted in the beginning) the tattoo came out pretty good. so I thought it would be a nice idea to get another one here but i don't think I should have put so much work into just setting up an appointment. I wish they had just told me they don't do appointment, or that it would be better if I had just walked in? I'm not really sure what the deal was but it's a little frustrating I'm not gonna lie. I will never go anywhere else again. I got hooked up today by the tattoo artist hearing Danny and he did the most amazing job for me. Not only that but he touched my heart so sincerely. It was a great vibe all the way through. Our back stories are similar. And it was absolutely the most amazing experience I have ever had getting a tattoo. I never cry and I swear to you I cried happy tears. Not only that but I've kept in contact with the tattoo artist. And he is an amazing person. We need more people like this in this world. I'm going to sleep so well tonight. This was absolutely the best thing that I could have done today. The best and I mean absolute best tattoo shop that I could have called today with sincere real honest hard-working amazing people. Such a great experience. Me and 6 of my friends came in together and seriously had the best experience. Chris and Alex were super friendly, welcoming, and made the whole thing really fun from the second we walked in. Even with a big group, everything went so smoothly and nobody felt rushed at all. Chris (did my tattoo) was awesome and took the time to make sure everyone was happy with their tattoos before starting. The detail and quality of the work turned out amazing and we're all obsessed with how they came out. The shop was really clean, the vibe was great, and the whole experience honestly made the day even more memorable for all of us. Definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for good vibes, talented artists, and an overall great experience. Next time we are in Reno we'll for sure be back! read more

You ever get tattoos at shops and feel like you can't find one you like? That's the way I was and then I found Evolution Tattoo. Now I have been going to this shop 16 years. The staff have always been down to earth and pleasant to be around. Danny G. has tattooed me, some of my friends, and even my family. I also brought my girl in to get piercings and it was one of the one of the nicest experiences I've ever had at a shop. It seems like we are stuck in a world where businesses don't care about the customer anymore. So it's nice going to Evolution Tattoo and being treated like family, it's a breath of fresh air. I made an appointment with a peircing specialist at Evolution Tattoo 4 days before the actual appointment. When I showed up to have my daughter's ears pierced I waited for half an hour before texting the specialist. My daughter and I then waited an additional 15 minutes before we got a response that he would be there in another 45ish minutes. At that point I left. If a business or individual representing a business can't even remember an appointment that was set-up four days before how can I trust that they'll do the job right at all. read more

When I went in I was intending on talking with a few artists from other shops for what I was looking for, but Matt was so chill and informative about his process I just felt comfortable right away. He worked with my budget while still giving me exactly what I wanted (and it turned out even better than what I had imagined!). The shop was clean, the artists were friendly and awesome. I went to see Danny @ Evolution about 2 weeks ago. EVERYTIME I want a new tattoo, he never hesitates to get me in & give me what I want. I recently had to put down my 12 year old cat back in April so he put my sweet boys paw print on me. I am also obsessed with sunflowers so the other tattoo is a female body with her head as a sunflower. He is AMAZING! I have multiple piercings and have got them done at a few different places and Adam is the best I have been to! I got my conch done on February 21st for my birthday and it never swelled or hurt. Actually I slept on it the first night which doesn't happen with new piercings. Adam was rad! I was super nervous as I had been told these were rather "painful" piercings by various friends, however Adam was super professional and definitely helped calm my nerves. Amazing customer service. I lost a post from a piercing performed a few weeks before. They were closing at 7:30 on a Sunday night, but stayed open until 8pm allowing me to get there and have the post replaced. This saved me from having the piercing close needing to be re-pierced when they returned on Wednesday. They went above and beyond. This level of service is not seen often. Thank you. read more

The most amazing tattooing experience I have had. Went as a group walk in and they were super friendly and welcoming. They got us in no problem, totally got what we wanted at a reasonable price. Adam has done 9 out of my 12 piercings. From the first piercing he did when I was freshly 18, my belly button, to starting and ear piece, I have always had an amazing professional experience. Now the son of the owner runs the place and apparently he allowed a guest artist to come in and do a Nazi tattoo in their shop.
