Count on Mom's for affordable Chinese food…read more Mom's Pan-Fried Bun in Newmarket offers great value, and is often packed during mealtime with families. This is one of 7 locations now across the GTA. While pan-fried buns & soup dumplings are on the menu, noodles are our go-to here. Their menu also features burgers, fried chicken wings and apps such as scallion pancakes and desserts including pumpkin pie with red bean filling. The soy milk is light and refreshing. The tomato-based noodle soup is rich and slightly tangy. We like that it's always served piping hot and comes with a crispy pork cutlet. The cutlet does soften quick while soaking up the soup. You can also pick between their braised beef noodle soup or their house beef noodle soup with tripe, beef rolls & a smaller pork cutlet for $10.99. It's light but you can jazz it up with their aromatic hot sauce that isn't very spicy. Hand-pulled noodles are thick & bouncy while the bowl portions are a fair size. Their burgers are surprisingly tasty with Asian seasoned beef patty, onion crisp and a slab of processed cheese. The restaurant interior is brightly lit with many promo signages and fits a decent number of tables to accommodate close to 40 guests. Just like their busy downtown location, you can see the action in the back kitchen where the noodles and buns are being steamed and fried. This place accepts credit card and there is no cash discount. Service is quick and friendly for casual dining, promptly serving and clearing your dishes. Skip it or hit it? It's a good meal spot to hit up if you're looking for affordable noodles & bites.

This restaurant used to be decent when they first opened. But now it's gone downhill. The food is…read morenot freshly prepared. And the taste is terrible now. First thing that was bad was the pan fried mom. That is their signature. Literally they microwaved the bun a d dumped a bunch of oil and lightly fried it. We can tell cause we heard the microwave and also it took 2 minutes to make. A proper pan fried bun takes time and you can see the char marks all over the buns. Also there was no soup in it. Which is what makes it good. The next thing the beef pie. Also microwaved it wasn't crunchy the beef filling had ton of oil and gave me indigestion Lastly the wings. Literally the worst breading I've had. Since they expanded. And all this place has no quality control which is probably why it's half empty these days. Do not come to this location it is awful

I'm so glad to have come across more Chinese restaurants in the Aurora area. This place has its…read moreroots from an old establishment from China, meaning it has stood the test of time! I ordered lamb skewers, wu king tea, lamb pilaf rice and mashed potatoes. All the food was super yummy and I was most impressed with the size of their skewers! They were huge. I also loved their wukong tea...at $3.99, dare I say it tasted better than some bubble tea shops!! The service was friendly and efficient. After being seated, you immediately get a plate of peanuts and pickled veggies, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, it's a large space with plenty of seating, where you can take the whole family to eat. I'll definitely be coming back.

If you plan to visit at least a couple of times a year, the annual membership is worth it for the food discount. Dishes we've tried so far: Lamb skewers - Premium cut, very flavourful. Grilled sea bass with vegetables - The fish is grilled first, then served hot-pot style with tofu, fried tofu puffs, black fungus, and leafy greens. A nutritious, well-rounded dish, and the frozen fish still tastes fresh. Sweet and sour chicken - Decent. Cold cabbage appetizer in sesame sauce - Perfectly seasoned, with just the right level of sweetness. Fried beef cut - Mediocre; the beef was a bit too chewy. "Water" boiled spicy fish - A large dish great for groups, served with about 5 pounds of basa fish. Hit my expectation of the dish but very filling with a lot of oil. Beef buns/rolls - Mediocre and quite dry. Overall, the food here offers great value -- just a bit pricier than food court fare, but with mid-tier restaurant quality. Portions are generous, and I always leave full. I'd happily come back when I'm in the area.
