First time here and everything is delicious. The first floor has a huge array of incredible sweets from cakes to cookies. The baklava cake is moist and incredible. Lotus cake is light and has a caramel drizzle. There are countless pistachio options to try next time. Latte and black tea with spices were a great accompaniment. It's hard not to compare Papa Cafe to the nearby BB Cafe, and frankly, you can't go wrong with either: - Papa has a greater variety of cookies/pastries (which are a bit more on the sweet side), with the standout being the walnut cookie. - Papa has the better napoleon (cream is amazing) and lafika (cheating a bit here as it eschews the traditional one and uses its walnut cookie), but doesn't offer icecream and as many desserts. - Both have nice 2nd floor seating areas, though Papa uses it for an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet on the weekend. - Both have friendly service and offer a lot of free taste tests, though Papa's was a bit more frenzied/hurried. - Both are good value-for-money takeaways (we left with a box full of treats). We drove by the plaza and were instantly drawn by the amount of people in Papa Pastry & Café at 9:00 PM at night. Many of the patrons were having tea with trays and trays of pastries in this enchanting café! Amir, the owner makes you feel at home. This is one of the most generous café, I have ever had the pleasure of being in. The pastries on the tables are complimentary for customers. You can enjoy a cup of tea in a pink tea set with traditional Persian baked goods. As someone who is inexperienced with Persian cuisine, I have no idea as to what any pastries in the store were. Amir's response to all my inquires was, "just try it". In additional to the selection baked goods and pastries available for sampling by the cashier, the staff was kind and offered us samples of the items we wanted to try from the display. This is a wonderful environment to enjoy a relaxing evening with loved ones. It is no wonder that Papa was busy late in the evening! Can't wait to try the cakes at Papa's in our next visit! Note: If you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, this is the place to be! Nice little place in north York, they have some good Persian pastry and sweets' selection, Customer service is good, they're welcoming and friendly. The seating area upstairs is big and spacious, very bright with windows everywhere, and it's usually not that busy during the day, but gets busy on weekends. Parking is a major issue, schedule yourself a minimum of 15 minutes to find a parking space! But good sweets, I will go back to try their cakes soon read more

When a man in a suit welcomes you at the door and offers you a variety of pastry samples from a multi tiered tray like you see at high tea, you know you're in the right place. Pricing isn't evident, but service is pretty good. They have a lot of gorgeous sweets to choose from and very few descriptions for those unfamiliar with Persian sweets. I ended up getting 5 of the tarts filled with syrupy nuts. Upon bringing them home, I discovered they were more syrupy than I had expected, because the syrup and the nuts had spilled out of the tarts. I have no idea whether that's supposed to happen or not. Still tasty though, but it's hard to go wrong with nuts. I used the Yelp check-in offer, which was supposed to entitle me to two free pastries. Instead, they just told me they deducted $2 off my total. Um...that's not quite what that check in offer means. Someone should sort that out. read more

That place is a bit weird. I'm not talking about food. Staff is really friendly, they gave us to try a lot of stuff and all was good. I'd say sweets are a bit too sweet, but that didn't bother me. They make pretty good latte in really nice cups. I mean GOOD latte since they don't drown it in sugar like starbucks. The weir part was the interior. It's just too pink. This location is near where I live and I always pass by it but never had the one to go just until recently and they have a wide variety of Persian desserts. The workers are very friendly patient and helpful when I asked about their best sellers and flavours of a variety of pastries. my favorite would probably be the baclava but the others didn't really fit to my taste. There is also a small section where you can sit and converse while having tea and desserts. read more

Definitely my go-to bakery since coming to the area. The lady behind the counter says everything is made in house. Haven't had anything here I didn't like and I've been a few times. Prices are outrageously affordable. Last weekend for Mother's Day I picked up 2 napoleons, 2 roll cakes, and about 20 assorted cookies for $15. Ok so everything is delicious, that we've established, but the service is also phenomenal! Every time I ask about a cookie they give me one to try! And if they know what I'm buying is a gift they attach a bow to the top of the box on their own initiative. Also, a couple of times they've given me a free reusable bag that matches their bright pink decor -- so fun! The service makes a big difference. They also have a large variety and I just don't have anything bad to say about the place. We went to papa bakery with my family last Saturday for "all you can eat" Persian breakfast, and I have to say it's one of the best breakfast I had, food was very fresh with fresh squeezed juices, if you like breakfast or brunch I strongly recommend this place. Beware no price list!!! There is no price list to this place, you have to ask for every single thing you are ordering. Hence there is no menu. I even had to ask if they make teas and coffee. So I just gave up asking for what the prices were because even the answers I got were rough estimates, and just ordered. To me usually places that don't have prices, they make up prices on the spot based on who you are. How is a customer suppose to trust you? So whatever, I would rather go somewhere where there is a menu, quick scan, order and sit than trying to figure out the freaking menu.The ordering process just made me too uncomfortable.
