Whenever I'm craving Mexican food, I love coming to Made In Mexico! I've never been disappointed with the food. Portions are huge, food is flavourful and drinks are always good. It's great going for lunch and dinner. Servers are friendly and welcoming.

Only good dish to order here

Service 1/5 (or they are just racist cause I was the only Chinese guy there at the time and everyone else seem taken care of). Starting with me arriving getting the table from hostess. 10-15 minutes nobody ask me what I want to drink or order. Hostess stands there 2 feet away does nothing. Waitresses and waiters pass by does nothing. When I first sat down it was 1/4 full. Why treat me this way? Eventually I asked hostess so who do I talk to order something? "Oh!..." she got a waiter to come over. On the surface all friendly so I thought ok maybe it was just a fluke. Ordered beef buritos, steak grilled main entree, and the sunrise liquor, and some other stuff. The grilled steak entree is worth ordering (see photo) and tasty but other stuff are not so good. Servers bring food and don't ask if I'd like any sauces to go with the food... come on it's Mexican. No sauces???? Had to later ask for 2 x Verdi sauce and it's the first Mexican restaurant in ten years to serve me 2 hot temperature seemingly microwaved green Verdi sauce to go with my food.... Servers did not caution that they are hot temperature wise either and they came in regular cold plastic cups. Not once servers came to ask me how is the drink or how is the food or how I'm doing or if I need more napkins. In hindsight I shouldn't have tipped 10%. Should been 0. They don't really care not even for tips. Got sick of the service and asked to take burritos and side of beans to go. 1st server brought me a takeout container that fit the burrito exactly. I asked what about the beans? 2nd trip server brought me a container I can fill with beans. I asked if I could get a plastic bag for those 2 containers since they slippery surface? 3rd trip got the plastic bag. I asked if I could have the bill or machine to pay? 4th trip server brought the rest. All could been done in one trip considering I'm the one packing the food. Food? Their most expensive entree was ok. Service? It was as if I was a slave at a white man's establishment shortly after emancipation. If you are Chinese like me you might want to lower service expectations. Something is weird and odd with the service here. They don't care about getting your money as much as what you look like so it felt. Too bad. Had diarrhea later... and I made sure washed hand before I ate. So don't know if it was the boil hot Verdi sauces or something else. Really had such high hopes for this to be my local Mexican go to. Too bad.

Divorce Enchiladas - cold & lacking seasoning considering the amount of ingredients ($17.95)

I have had 2 visits to this restaurant now. The first was in January 2020 and the second visit was in the last 30 days. I love Mexican food! I have been to Mexico so many times, I can't even count anymore. I never expect to have the same quality here as I have had there. The food is prepared differently and tastes differently, BUT, I was expecting a bit better than what we experienced though, considering that this restaurant was featured on the Food Network Show "You Gotta Eat Here". It was a bit difficult to find comfortable seating. That was our first issue. I felt like the banquet seating was not an even height to the tables. Also, the way each section of banquets is set up, you end up seating very close to the person beside you if you don't want to sit on the split of the banquet where the next seat starts. We finally got our seat and it took a bit longer than I would have liked to be greeted at our table and have our drink orders taken. We ordered an appetizer and our kids ordered their food and hubby & I selected what we wanted to eat. This is what we ordered: Cheese Empanada appetizer - prices have obviously gone up, but this app used to be served with salsa, sour cream & guacamole. All we got was sour cream. They tasted good, but a little surprised at how hollow they were. Great crisp on the outside, but when you bit into it, it's hollow with a small amount of cheese. 20 minutes later our food was brought out... Entrees (each served with 2 sides). $16.75 - Street Style Tacos (4) - the ground beef was cold and lacked any seasoning, way too much lettuce. $17.95 - 2 Divorce Enchiladas Entrees (2 w/red sauce & 2 w/green sauce) - 4 corn tortillas lightly deep fried stuffed with chicken and layered with red and green sauce, sour cream, melted cheese, feta and onion/cilantro mix. Served with 2 sides. I was very disappointed over this dish. First of all, it was cold, so cold I would think that it was probably ready at the same time as our app and was just left on the pass while we had our Empanadas. I ate 1 of each and didn't bother touching the rest. The cheese wasn't even properly melted on top. Worst of all was the lack of flavour in the dish. The green sauce was the only thing that had me finishing 1 Enchilada. Kids Quesadilla - only my youngest enjoyed his meal, but you can't go wrong with the simplicity of a cheese quesadilla. However, this meal was cold as well. $16.95 - Flautas - the green sauce was REALLY good on these, but the flautas that we were expecting to be crispy & warm, were actually soggy and cold. Our server just shrugged awkwardly. There was no way these dishes were brought out right after they were cooked. The regulars that were there for lunch were waited on and looked after much more frequently than us. Drinks & app had taken almost 30 minutes and then to be served cold food. I only gave them 3 stars because my youngest enjoyed his meal and the dessert we ordered: Churros & Chimichanga (deep fried) Cheese Cake was really good! I did reach out right after we left, but barely got any acknowledgement or apology for our experience. My hubby reminded me after we left that our first experience in January 2020, was not much better. We wont be back.

Divorce Enchiladas

Three of us came for supper after an afternoon walk. I ordered the Divorce Enchiladas with a side of Mexican Rice and Taco Soup. They were yummy but not very spicy. The service was excellent and the food came out really fast. Also ordered a pitcher of white Sangria, when ch was very refreshing. Will definitely come back again.

House Enchiladas and a Cadillac Margarita

OK we're in Canada and honestly it's hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in the land of ice and snow. I recently moved to Newmarket from Montreal and this was my second visit in the last week. I read through a few reviews and don't get the "not authentic" comments: the food here is honest to goodness fresh Mexican. The tortillas are hand made, the sauces are house made and the proteins are simmered in Mexican love. The new location is great with a nice street terrace on Main Street. Inside the decor is pretty cool with lots of Mexican posters and memorabilia. It's a family friendly place and the noise level is high but fun. Service was lightning fast and friendly and the prices are low for the quality of what's on the plate. I do think they could up the margarita game. They have about 20 pedestrian examples but nothing hand squeezed and top shelf (at least on menu). The Cadillac Margarita is the best on the list but nothing to come back for. I would also like to be chipped when I sit down in a Mexican place with complimentary house made chips and salsa. They have them available but at an additional charge. Anyway I really like the entrees here and will make this a regular stop for sure.

We LOVE it here! The food is great and fresh, quick service and awesome tequila and margarita choices. They were super kind to my kiddo and the server we had was so welcoming. Never a bad time here! Also a super fun aesthetic inside the dining room - sombreros, funny signs, beautiful masks. Awesome, awesome!

3oz margarita and bulldog margarita

The ambiance of the restaurant is very creative and the food is delicious. The flavours are more authentic than other Mexican places we've tried. The consistency in quality could be a little bit better and the service was not the best, but overall this is very good option for Mexican food cravings would definitely come back a lot!

Fiesta platter
Shajitha R.

First time I went I got the Ground beef burrito with beans and rice. It's a huge meal that's for sure, and it's even enough to split with a friend. Food was great and service was on point! Second time...a little different. I got the fiesta platter so I could try a little of everything. The cheese empanadas we're definitely a winner! Would come back for those alone. The rest of the platter was a little mediocre. The chips were good, the sauce was a little hot, but the flautas, bean taquitos, and chicken adobo sope I could've done without. They all were just little bits of filling in a fried wrapper and didn't have much taste to them. We were also there for a friends birthday. As we ordered the birthday special, we got 6 churros on the house with caramel sauce. They also come out singing and put a sombrero on everyone at the table which was fun! Overall, note to self, stick with the burritos or empanadas next time!

Chimi Changa with House Salad and Mexican rice
Anna G.

I'm sad this place doesn't have a higher rating! I've heard many people rave about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Firstly, I was surprised at how big it was when I entered. Definitely deceiving from the outside. There is ample amounts of seating inside as well as a small patio outside. The menu has lots of options and many options for my vegetarian dietary restriction. Also, the friend I was with can't have cilantro, and was easily accommodated. I ordered the veggie Chimi Changa and chose two sides: house salad and Mexican rice. For $13.49, it was a lot of food! I've never had a Chimi Changa before, so I can't compare it to a previous experience, but my meal was delicious! Would definitely come back for it! I also had the Mango Mojito, which was delicious and well-priced at $8.95. I'd also like to make a shout out to the awesome service we received! Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this place. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!

Biggest chimichanga ever

Great restaurant to enjoy some Mexican dishes with soft corn tortillas. I came for lunch with my family, we shared a plate of cheese nachos. The nachos were particularly great as the tortillas were handmade cut and fried. I took the fish tacos (bass fish) with coleslaw and I picked two sides: Mexican rice and refried beans. The tacos were fresh and the fish was perfectly cooked. My partner ordered the chimichanga with two sides: lime coriander rice and bean soup. The quantity were rather big we had to take the burrito back home we couldn't finish our plate. We came for lunch, staff is friendly and the restaurant was decently packed. The food came fast.

Delicious fish tacos!

Another visit that doesn't disappoint! Just as satisfied as my first visit; delicious food with apppetizing presentation, excellent service, vibrant vibe and overall great experience. Worth the drive up north to Newmarket. I got the fish tacos ~$15. Quite a filling dish! I ate all the tacos but didn't even dig into the rice, even though the rice was very flavourful and yummy. The fish was so crispy and stayed crispy. Mind you, I had a cold when I ate this, so I can't comment much on the flavours, but I added the guac sauce from my salad side, and it tasted a lot better with! Adds some sweetness and creaminess. Presentation has bright colours and has consistent and neat plating. The burritos, enchiladas and empanadas my friends got looked really good as well. The waitress was so present, patient and offered many times samples and explained the different options they have. Exemplary restaurant and would call it one of my faves!

We did order other things but we learned after that it was mistakenly not inputted. Chicharrones were not crispy the skin was soft and unappealing. We asked for it to be refried yet even when it came back for some reason it still was not as good as other authentic Mexican spots I've been to. The tacos were dry. Then I saw the large "bowl" which is just a styrofoam container and not very large at that. So I figured I may as well order the Supreme Fries, so I did that and was told i'd have to wait 15 mins. So I didn't understand why it was going to take that long until I saw him proceed to turn the fryer on (they had been open 2 hours at this point that fryer should be on and ready to go). The next things that bothered me was that he dropped the fries IMMEDIATELY, like....into the cold oil.... *sigh* So i'm waiting an looking around, I see the taco shells and I notice that they are just Ol El Paso shells. Like I get it, you got to get them from somewhere I suppose but like HIDE THE BOX. It was just depressing and expensive. I was suprised that the fries were't cooked completely horrible but there was weird tastes in the sauces and nothing was even good at all, i'd rather go anywhere else. I was hoping this place may cost less then any of the usual chains one would get burritos from, but no.... JUST as expensive. So why would I pay the same price for sub par experience. Just don't even bother with this place.... shame...

Overall, the serving area is pretty tidy. I usually go at busy times so it could be worse. But there's sometimes certain foods that have made their way into other bins and it's not a good call for people like me who can't eat onions to all of a sudden have an onion in their rice! The portions are good, I'm always full. But again, sometimes you get barely any of a certain topping and other times it's overwhelming. Tonight for example... I feel anyone who adds jalapeños is expecting a teaspoon's worth on a small or medium. I bet I had a freaking tablespoon on a small. I couldn't even finish and thoroughly didn't enjoy it. What really boggles my mind... my server today placed the ingredients and started wrapping. He saw that the salsa was on half and the burrito sauce was on the other half.. yet he wrapped it up. I asked for the second (not for me) to be wrapped a different way... he tried to move the ingredients around but I don't think he really cared much for his job and didn't wrap it the way I suggested. I don't know what to say about this place... would I go back... yea because when it's good it's really really good. But when it's bad, it's really disappointing.
