Ambiance passes the vibe check They have live music every weekend which is always my favorite. During the summer they have an outdoor patio with love music as well. The food is on point. We ordered the surf and turf molcajete which is an array of grilled meats, seafood, cactus and jalapeno melted with moltan queso served in a volcano rock bucket which remained hot during the entire sitting Service is what you would expect in an authentic Mexican restaurant. First time trying birria tacos so not sure if they're "the best" but I enjoyed them! Once I try different birria tacos from other establishments I'll be able to make a comparison. I got these 2 go and they come in an order of 3 tacos with consommé for $15 + tax. This is what the consommé looked like when I opened it. Not sure if this is less than usual or a normal amount. It takes about 20-25 minutes to make. It was delicious - I would get it again. read more

Came here after a round of golf with a group of 6. Heard nothing but good things about this place from friends.I would've gave this place 5 stars!! Food and service was so good. And that was our first, and last time sadly. The workers were so nice and hospitable. But on our way walking out the door, one of the guys on the mic from the live band (glasses, goatee, and hat) decided to make a comment about our group. He said " a lot of China's here." Me and my friends are all Asian but we're not Chinese. Which is besides the point. But that comment just rubbed us all the wrong way. Whether he thinks he's a comedian, we found that to be pretty racist. Especially in front of a crowded restaurant. I wanted to cuss him out, but I bit my tongue. So sorry to the staff, but this bad review is because of 1 stupid comment of a band member that your restaurant hired. Tasty food, delicious drinks, funky decor, and live music! Was a great meal for sure. I'm not much of a drinker, but I throughly enjoyed the lime bulldog, which is a lime margarita rimmed with salt with a small Corona in it. It was a perfect compliment to the nachos which were covered in queso, cotija cheese, jalapeños and other veggies. My friend got the "El trio" appetizer which also looked great. That consisted of fresh tortilla chips, refried beans, guacamole and pico. The only downside to my visit was that the food took a while to come out. The dining room was busy and there seemed to be a few takeout orders though. Thankfully my group wasn't in a rush at all, so it worked out. read more

We love to eat at mexican restaurants and typically cross the border to buffalo because we know we will get a good meal. We discovered La Mexicanada and wanted to try it out so we drove an hour ti Bradford to their restaurant for dinner. We were seated at a table and the waitress came over and put the drink menu on the table and asked us if we were ready to order. We said no we were not ready to order as we hadn't seen the menu yet. She brought us over the menus and two cups of water that that had a funny taste. I asked her if she would please bring us cups of fresh water and she did bring us new cups of water with ice, but the water still tasted bad. After she took our order, she never came back to our table. We were never checked on to see if we needed anything. When we finished eating, we asked four different staff members for our bill because our waitress was awol since she never came back to our table after she took our order. We waited At least 20 minutes for our bill We are really disappointed with the extremely bad service we received. we will not be going back to this restaurant read more

I went to the pop-up event they had at Upper Canada Mall and ordered La Patrona. I shared this with one other person and it was more than enough for the two of us and was a very affordable price ($24 for the dish making it $12 a person). I had a pork taco and it was tasty, although I wish it had some more vegetables in it to add more flavour/texture. The nachos weren't my favourite due to the cheese sauce drizzled on. The tostadas were good although a bit difficult to eat. We had the chorizo ones at the recommendation of our waiter and it was flavourful! This was my first time having flautas, they were tasty just not my favourite. If I went again I think I would just order their tacos. read more

I just had such An amazing late lunch at this restaurant for the first time today and it now will become one of my favourites for sure! I had the quesaberria tacos with broth to dip wow!!!!! So yummy ! I also had a Margarita the best Margarita I ever had!!! I also Had a blue lagoon drink so good. My partner drank a pinacolada he said it was a 10 outa 10. He also had a combo platter for one deeeelisious !!!!! Our server Aylen was so happy and sweet I would just go back to be served by her even if the food wasn't so amazing! Had a great time at Mexicanada with my boyfriend and brother! It was a nice place to stop for food on our way to Gravenhurst. The whole place was packed on a Friday evening. The staff was mainly Spanish people and felt like a community oriented restaurant catering to Mexicans and South Americans as well as locals. There was even a live band, which was a nice surprise. It terms of flavours, the dishes were good and well presented, I think we were expecting a littler spicier, but overall tasty! read more

Terribly disappointed! Historically, always a great experience and amazing food and ambiance BUT last night!!!! Walked inside and strong stench of urine inside the front door, yuck! Then out to the so called patio ~ it was a gorgeous night but our book ahead reserved seating landed us a sticky pic nic table at the rubbage filled end of the laneway. Classic margherita was $9.95 (ouch) and Modelo was almost as much....again, thought oh well, Covid strikes again. BUT had to wait 3!!!!!hours!!!!! for our dinner!!! What?!!! That's nuts and when it arrived, recommended chicken fajita dish was tiny pieces of I think "chicken"???(very questionable) complimented with burnt onion scrapings and green pepper covered in white granular "cheese"???? cut up so so small - smaller than what a two year old would need...maybe 4-5 morsels of "chicken" (pieces small enough for a two year old or younger)....and first bite - almost broke my tooth on some sort of bone/grizzle.....second bite, same thing and the grease was DRIPPING! After a couple of bites (because it wasn't served with the fajita shells) which came later....I could NOT eat it. Appt? Small small ramon of not homemade guacamole served with VERY stale and almost burnt nacho things........ fajita dish was $28.95!!!!!! portions not all reflective of the spend either. My husband's meal was meh at best and cold and $29.95!!!! Our party was served all separately over the course of half an hour so we all couldn't eat at the same time ~ meals were definitely sitting but TONS of staff roaming around, did not make sense. Sitting on a pic nic table bench, staring at rubbage outside with a motion sensing light glaring on and off in our faces. Ambiance sucked! Having to ask for enough cutlery, napkins, menus for our party ~ just all in all a very ill prepared restaurant and staff with overpriced less than the standard they've set for themselves ~ and don't get me started on the dirty washroom....it was gross. So folks, I'm ALL ABOUT supporting local however the cost of last nights dinner and sub sub par experience, won't be back...work too hard for our money to blow it away . I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed my experience here. It's a bit of a hike, but you will leave full & happy. We ordered Nachos, Enchiladas, Crispy Tacos & Churros oh and Margaritas. I've tried so many nachos from so many different places & I have to say I found my absolute favourite nachos. The chips were so crispy, the sauces all were delicious & I loved the extra sprinkle of cheese on top. I couldn't stop crunching till they were all gone! The chicken enchiladas were okay, I think that was partly our fault for ordering it with mole sauce as oppose to the traditional enchilada sauces, the chicken was a tad bit dry. The pork tacos were pretty bomb, so bomb we ordered them again lol except we asked them to remove the chipotle sauce, it tasted more like a BBQ sauce and I wasn't a fan. Moving on to dessert - the Churros were delicious. Not too doughy with the perfect amount of cinnamon & sugar, oh and extra caramel. This is a nice and cozy restaurant that definitely requires reservation as seats are very limited. Live music available on the weekends. It was introduced to us by a friend and it was definitely authentic Mexican cuisine. We chose to share all the dishes in family style. The tortilla soup was very good since the tortillas were crispy and not soggy loaded with cheese The Nachos is FULL of cheese with jalapeños tomatoes sour cream served with bean paste and guacamole as sides. The tacos had a crispy shell and it was very juicy so don't be afraid if you got your hands dirty The enchiladas also had a crispy shell filled with toppings inside rice meat cheese lettuce beans etc the whole works Because we came on the weekend and the place was full so we had to ask several times for our drink orders. I saw a New Mexican restaurant in the Upper Canada Mall and decided to give in a try. Something rang familiar, turns out it's the same as the one in Bradford. Plastic trays lined with wax paper, the paper tears once wet and the overall feeling is juvenile and cheap. The food was mildly better than my last experience but I won't return. I went to Mexicanada this past week and I was impressed with everything! From the moment we arrived we received excellent service. The waiters had big smiles on their faces and brought our food out in a timely manner. Small, Intimate and Fun! Date night, family dinner or birthday celebrations, you have to come to La MexiCanada in Bradford. I was first referred to La MexiCanada by a family member, who ranted and raved about their experience. Not long after, I went myself and could see exactly why. I've enjoyed their Carne Asada, Lobster & Steak, Alambres El Mexicano and Shrimp Ceviche to name a few. From what I have had, the presentation, attention to detail and portions have been incredible. We have so many more things to try on the menu, so you better come hungry! Shrimp Ceviche to die for! After spending several weeks in Latin America, I enjoyed many Ceviche dishes. Some good, others not so much. Now back in Canada, I was dying to experience a quality authentic Ceviche dish again. On my first visit to La MexiCanada, I found a Shrimp Ceviche on the menu. I was not expecting to experience the quality and authenticity as I did, compared to my time down south! I was absolutely blown away and this has become a mandatory appetizer for me. Fresh, citrusy and consistently amazing on every visit, never a disappointment. Since the Fall of 2021, we've had the pleasure of being served by Memo on many occasions. Memo has always gone above and beyond to help us out. He has also assisted with menu recommendations. He remembers our names when we return, greets us with such authenticity and possess a warm and caring personality. He is so happy to come over and speak to us. This is a warm and welcoming restaurant, who values the importance of relationship building with their patrons. We have also has the pleasure of being served by Aylen more recently. Her energetic personality and attention to detail makes coming here amazing. She has such a positive personality and when she sees us walk through the front door, she's excited to come talk to us. She have also helped make menu recommendations which we appreciate. We've brought friends and neighbours over the past few months. Consistency is key and we have never left disappointed! We love the food and atmosphere and highly recommend a visit. From my experience, they are always busy and we know why, especially at dinner. We hear during summer, they are full... indoor and outdoor patio. So, pack some patience if you see they are busy when you visit. Make reservations for dinner service if you can or get there early! I wanted so badly to like this place since our friends said they frequented here. Unfortunately we had the worst experience. The service was beyond slow and also a mess in the sense that I asked for a few times that I never got at all even after reminding the server of it. We ordered chips, with salsa and guac which we also never received! Now to the food. I ordered enchiladas... Which anyone who eats Mexican food knows it to be a rolled tortilla stuffed and then baked with sauce and usually cheese on top, I got no cheese for me. Well mine came more like a taco folded in half with everything just poured on top. It was soggy and apart from the sauce being tasty, flavourless. Perhaps it because I got the vegetarian option. Maybe they were having a bad day? Perhaps understaffed that day but wow! I was totally let down :( maybe I will give it another shot when I'm up in that area next but for now a 3 star was being generous in accordance to the experience I encountered. My sister had been raving about this particular restaurant for ages. I would respond, "So far???" Her friend brought her here a while back as they live in the area. She has been a taking the trip North since then as a loyal customer. On a random Sunday afternoon during the Civic Holiday long weekend, we went with our spouses up to Bradford. There was no traffic so it took about 35 to 40 minutes to get there from 404/Don Mills and Steeles. When we got there, my brother-in-law parked the car right across the restaurant. We walked across the street and the cars were racing so we had to squeeze through. Arrived the restaurant to much Mexican decor. Nice atmosphere and Mexican memorabilia. It was a lovely sunny day so the weather matched the mood of the restaurant. My sister called ahead for reservations just to be safe. It was not busy. She recommended I try the pork tostadas. It was her favourite dish that she always gets! We ordered a plate of Nachos and Pork Adobado to start. Pretty nifty. The adobado totally tasted like Filipino Pork Adobo which was delightful to taste. Almost tasted like mom's. Ha! The nachos were fine, but boringly normal. I eventually decided to get the platter for one which would come with: 1 pork tostada 1 pork taco 1 pork quesadilla 1 beef burrito You can switch between pork or beef, your choice. What can I say, the food was excellent. It was dang oily but it was not that salty for a change. All simple ingredients but they all go together well. By far, the pork tostada was my favourite part of the platter, just like my sister. The shell was hella crispy, deep fried, the shredded pork was soft and juicy and the sour cream topped it all with creamy goodness. The guacamole added to the toppings. It's kinda like an open-faced cruncy taco. The burrito was pretty decent and I only got to half of the quesadilla which was great. Took the taco in a doggy bag. Stuffed as hell, for dessert we got the churros. Amazing! Crunchy, crispy, sugared but not too sweet with the caramel sauce. Stellar! All in all, it was a great experience. I thanked my sister and bro-in-law for taking us there. It is true that I do have my sister's great taste in food. I love going to this place! It feels like you're on vacation, the entire experience is truly authentic. I live in the Distillery District and I am no stranger to El Catrin, to compare the two is simply ridiculous. The owner is always present and brings us the really hot sauces when we ask him for it. Our goal here is to sweat from the heat of the peppers! Always fun if you like spicy food! The band is great too and they set a fun atmosphere. The combo platter never fails and you have a choice of half chicken and half beef. They make a great Michelada its best with Tecate. The staff have great personalities! read more

Having just come back from Mexico, I was not only missing the food but also had a fresh idea in my mind with which to compare it to. La MexiCanada is definitely tasty. It is VERY close to the authentic as you can possibly get in Canada. The decor and atmosphere, although a bit dim was actually very culturally appealing and I believe demonstrated an authentic approach to Mexican culture. I ordered the combo platter because i wanted to taste a variety of their items. They were very tasty and the service was prompt, it wasn't however excellent- which is why I give this place a 3star rating. I have been to one other mexican place here in Canada, and although the business closed down I must say the presentation spoke volumes! First of all I believe their prices are much too high for the quantity of food offered. There were no totopas served as an in-house app (like bread and butter ) Nachos(totopas) and salsa are the most common app in mexico and they are usually served free of charge. Here they will cost you $5.95! Secondly, the entrees in my opinion should come with a salad or side soup or side of any kind. Three churros are $6.25, which can also be bought at specialty bakeries all over the GTA (stuffed w/ chocolate or dulce de leche) for $1.50 each. And lastly, the famous mexican pop drink Jarritos is $2.75 at MexiCanada, but approx. $ 0.79 at No Frills. You can get 3/$1us in mexico....you do the math. I am not going to tell you this place isn't tasty, all I'm saying is if you come with a big appetite, be ready to pay big prices. read more

So there have been some changes at this venue. Most of it I won't get into, because I am not a politics kind of guy. I like to focus on the experience, and go with that. I rarely write negative reviews. My belief is that I simply may have been there on someones bad day. I have them, you have them, we all have them. Reviews on the internet can make such a large impact to a small business, I am always reluctant to go in that direction, and risk doing so in error. This time is different however. I have been here twice recently. The food quality has changed for the worse, there has been drastic change in atmosphere, and a general decline in service. I can't leave my 5 star rating in place, as it is simply misleading now, based on the experiences I used to have at La MexiCanada. The food has lost any of it's former vibrance. I have to use colour here because its the clearest way to describe the change. Its gone from looking at a beautiful colour image of a Mexican beach, with blue sky's and a deep dark gulf sea, to a black and white picture of a run down cantina. It's utterly like night and day. Across the board too. It's not like they changed one dish (I had tostadas and burrito) and missed the mark on one. All the plates I dug into here have simply gone the way of mediocrity. The first night I went there they had "paint night". Not sure what painting has to do with Mexican food but there you are. I think the owners tried to take a different direction and might have gotten bit lost. My old friend Noe was nowhere to be found. I figured out later he had left. Probably due to an argument over "paint night". Service was adequate but staff were less amenable than on my previous visits. This might just be my perception, as I had such a great relationship with all the old staff, these new folks seem a little strange to me. Overall its not the place I fell in love with. It's not the same. And I am not interested in what it has become. read more

There are some people that are born with a gift, a magical gift that makes anything they cook taste fabulous. Such a person made my dinner at this place. Everything from the Mojito to the burrito was the best I've had. Yes the service is slow and they originally messed up the order but the food made everything better. I would sit in a pool filled with piranha for this food. We ordered the churros for desert and well worth it! "Better then sex" Is what my girlfriend said, so either I'm doing something wrong or they were that good. Anyway, great Mexican and they have a patio as well. The interior, the music, the atmosphere take you right back to Mexico. Food was fresh and delicious (had fish tacos myself). We ordered a starter of tortilla chips that came with salsa, but there wasn't as much salsa as chips, so it didn't go a long way. Also salsa was missing spices it tasted like.
