Once seated ("I'll seat you here, because the table is the only clean one") in a pub atmosphere that only had 3 tables with patrons in the establishment. It was NOT busy. Ordered 2 coffees and a diet coke. Had to remind her twice before getting it delivered. Ordering a simple breakfast, a sausage and cheese omelet and chicken fried steak. The toast on the plates were hard yet not overly toasted. The gravy and the potatoes were the best part of all 3 meals. Let me say, the omelet was smaller than the toast in comparison. The waitress abandoned ship and slid off the radar... we had to ask another matey to refill the coffee and he did so very promptly! He was the better part of the experience. Nothing better than a "local chain" breakfast stop. Stick to mom and pops place or cross the street for a Taco!

We were hungry, so we didn't think about wanting to travel to Aberdeen for breakfast. We were desperate for food, so we decided to sit down. Needless to say, we had to wait like 1+ hour for our orders of breakfast. I literally had to skip on my biscuit/gravy order due to staffing issue and time constraint. The server was very polite, but we just could not get past the whole 1+ hour of waiting for breakfast. The food was ok. We won't come back.

We have had some of their delicious yummies at local festivals or events, and at the Mad Hatter Play Cafe where they have some items for sale; but this was the first time we had actually been into their shop ... "Ground Zero, as the owner described." =) The atmosphere inside was warm, cozy, and very inviting. I took my two boys there for a morning treat that we could have throughout the day and honestly, it was hard for me to decide what I wanted. The kids were easily beckoned by the Chocolate Chip Cookies! Ha! They both loved them (I did too, as I snuck a bite of one). Soft, thick, and just the right amount of chips. The cookie itself was good too. Some of the delights that the owner had made that morning included Pumpkin Squares, Brownies, Scones, and other types of Cookies. Being the apple fiend that I am, I went with the Apple Turnover! Boy was I happy about that decision. Flakey pastry, sweet and tart apple filling, and just a wee bit of icing on the top made this a great choice. I had planned on just having part of it that morning and the other part around lunch time ... but, you know ... it all just happened to disappear in the morning! =) The owner was equally delightful and extremely kind. She welcomed us straightaway and was very friendly, patient, and great with my kids. What I didn't know, what that she also carries other items too - in addition to sweets. Knick-knacks, candies, mugs, stuffies, cloth bags, and even Ice Cream!! This was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back for more!!

The bakery is located in the heart of Poulsbo, a charming Scandinavian-style town. There's usually a line, but we've been lucky during our visits and haven't had to wait too long. They offer a wide variety of freshly baked pastries, cakes, bread, and other sweet goods. We've tried several of their danishes and bundoughs, which were good, though some are bit on the sweeter side. Overall, we enjoyed our visits and the experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

I thought the items we grabbed were excessively sweet. Keeping an open mind that they offer a larger variety of pastries and goods I didn't try but my visit felt just average. While not overly impressed, I can appreciate a solid spot with fresh donuts and pastries managing high traffic. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.

We didn't have…read morereservations, but just walked in; and the Chef said yes to our unplanned late last table arrival. It was either a two-course or a three-course meal $29 +$47 respectively. We did 3 each starting with homemade pimento cheese with celery sticks, sweet peppers sliced, and crustini. I'm not a big fan of the jarred commercial pimento cheese. This was extremely good. Tasting the peppers inside the cheese ball that you choose how and where to spread it. B+ maybe even A- for the flavor of the cheese and presentation. 2nd Course of shrimp etouffee. It was okay but too thin of a sauce due to a not dark enough roux. Flavors are spot on, shrimp are tender and delicious. A- for the effort to take on roux dishes. 3rd Course was a delicate hazelnut chocolate mousse in a champagne fluted crystal glass. Topped with a light whipped cream to find the dessert level. It had multiple layers of flavor in different areas of the mouth and nasopharynx. A+ for presentation and depth of flavor in a chocolate pudding! Cup of coffee to end the meal, so really 4 courses. The bookstore surrounds the entire restaurant. Very unique experience. Get reservations or try your luck with the Chef near 6:15 pm for a late exception allowed to slip in. Monthly menu then changed up, only work dinner shift on Fridays. Rest is lunch for Courthouse folk. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Overall Score A PS. There were other choices but I didn't try them so, another review for the future... Usually I photograph the food and menu, glucose meter said low so we ate in haste to also not keep entire restaurant open for just us, which we did anyways. And, chef and waitress were great at conversing while closing. PPS. The turkey and spinach crepinettes were flavorful and the housemade cranberry mustard was the perfect accompaniment. The French potato salad and haricot vert were nice sides. I had the chicken sandwich with lemon pepper mayo and cauliflower soup. The mayo really brightened the sandwich. There was a generous amount of roast chicken and the bread was chewy and tasty. And then there's the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. Sigh
