I would strongly caution anyone considering Heritage Auto Repair…read more We brought in our 2018 Nissan Murano because of a screeching noise. Heritage diagnosed the problem as a serpentine belt and tensioner and charged us over $560 to replace them. The very next morning the exact same noise returned. When we contacted them again and sent a video, they told us it was actually a wheel bearing issue and quoted another $1,150 for repairs. At this point we lost confidence and sought another opinion. A different shop diagnosed the actual problem immediately: the transfer case, which explained the noise and the acceleration issues. So to summarize: * Heritage charged us $560 for a repair that did not fix the problem * They then misdiagnosed the issue again as wheel bearings * The real issue was the transfer case, which they completely missed What is most concerning is that they were prepared to perform another $1,150 repair that would not have solved the problem either. Good mechanics diagnose problems before charging customers for unnecessary work. This experience felt like guessing at repairs while the customer pays the bill. I would recommend anyone experiencing drivetrain or noise issues get a second opinion before authorizing repairs here.

I own an MB C-300, and when the engine light came on, I took it to IAR because it was a local shop, and the nearest dealership is 80 miles away. IAR ran a diagnostic (charging $200) and determined that the air injection reactor pump was broken. They ordered the part and replaced it (costing $800). However, two days later, the engine light came back on. I returned the car to IAR, and they told me that Bosch must have sent a defective part. They ordered a new pump and replaced it again. But just two days later, the engine light came on once more. This time, IAR ran more tests and told me that a module was broken and needed replacement at the dealership since they didn't have the tools to fix it. So, I took my car to the dealership. However, the dealership recommended running a diagnostic again because the module that IAR identified was expensive and non-refundable. If they pre-ordered the part and it turned out I didn't need it, I'd still have to pay for it. After running their own diagnosis, the dealership discovered that a fuse was missing, which was causing the issue. They added the fuse and fixed the problem. I went back to IAR and told the owner, Carl, that a fuse had been missing, implying that they hadn't properly checked the car. Carl denied this, stating they had never touched any fuses and abruptly ended the conversation by saying, "Goodbye." How professional! When I got home, I reviewed the invoice from the first repair, and to my surprise, there was a charge for a fuse. This meant that either IAR had worked on a fuse, or they charged me for a part that was never actually used. I called Carl and mentioned the fuse. He chuckled and told me they had "put in and out fuses." So, it turns out, IAR was the one who forgot to replace the fuse. The bottom line is that Carl runs a dishonest business, and now I'm questioning whether the air injection reactor pump was ever actually broken in the first place.

On the flip side, you get what you pay for. It seems these guys buy cheap parts from O'Reilly's to get the job done - hence the low prices. They also do sloppy work. More than once after picking up my car from their shop I have noticed that although the previous problem was fixed, there was now a new problem that didn't exist before. The particular experience that caused me to look elsewhere: Once I took the Subaru in to have a noise originating from the wheel well looked at. They told us that the left front break pad was the problem. After they had replaced it, I continued to hear the noise. Only after I had taken the car to McKeirnan's was the noise eliminated: The issue was a wheel bearing, not a brake pad. The misdiagnosis cost us time and money. Since then I go to McKeirnan's.

I have never written a review before, but my recent experience at Les Schwab has left me shaken and…read moreextremely disappointed. I feel obligated to share what happened in hopes that others are spared from a similar experience, and so this situation is taken seriously. On August 16th at 8AM, I brought in my 2012 BMW 335is for a scheduled consultation because my brake pads were low. After the inspection, I was presented with a service quote of over $2,000, which included replacing rotors, calipers, discs, sensors, and even new tires I never requested. I explained that I have experience building cars and knew my rotors and calipers were fine. However, I was told it was "policy and liability" to replace everything. I declined the tires, but the bill was still over $1,700. Despite the high cost, I agreed only because I had no tools or other options, and I was told it could be done that same day. After I approved the work, I was then told it wouldn't be ready until Monday, August 18th. When I picked up my car on the 18th, I left the lot and reached the first red light. To my horror, my brakes nearly failed completely--traveling 35-40 mph, it took 8 full seconds of pressing my brake pedal to the floor before the car came to a complete stop. I narrowly avoided a collision. Terrified, I immediately pulled over and called Les Schwab. Instead of offering a tow, they told me to drive the car back despite the risk, with only 30 minutes before closing. Once there, I explained the situation in detail. A older technician looked over the car and insisted "nothing was wrong." I asked multiple times for documentation stating that my brakes were fine since this was a serious safety and liability concern, but I was refused three times. I then asked the same tech to test drive it. He first drove it briefly in the lot, when he came back and said nothing was wrong, again, I explained how I was going about 40 mph when this happened and not as slow as him in the parking lot, then--frustrated by my persistence--he grabbed my keys aggressively off the counter, spoke to me in a hostile tone saying "I'll take it for a test drive" and scoffs, and took the car for over 30 minutes. When he returned, he again said "nothing was wrong." I later realized the car had been taken into the shop without my consent or explanation of what was done. This only added to my fear that something was quietly fixed to avoid admitting fault. The next day I spoke directly with the manager, Jesse. Unlike the prior experience, the manager listened and took me seriously. He test drove the car with me, and while the brakes then felt fine, we soon discovered a new issue: a terrible banging sound above 30 mph. After multiple inspections, it turned out my plastic under-guard had been damaged, something that was not present before. This reinforced my concern that the aggressive technician may have driven my lowered car recklessly during his 30-minute "test drive." When I brought this up, the manager said it couldn't be proven. I was given no documentation of any work, inspections, or explanations of anything since picking it up originally. By the end, I was left with: A $1,700+ bill for work I did not fully agree was necessary. A terrifying brake failure immediately after service. An employee who was aggressive, dismissive, reckless, and unprofessional. Refusal of written documentation despite my repeated requests. A new issue (broken under-guard) that did not exist before service. Lost wages from a day and a half of missed work. I want to make clear: this situation was not just inconvenient, it was traumatizing. At 23, with no parents or outside help, this left me legally and financially vulnerable, while also placing me in real danger on the road. I take meticulous care of my car, it is my dream car since I was 15, and to leave a trusted shop only to nearly crash was unacceptable. I am asking Les Schwab corporate to review this case immediately. I sincerely hope Les Schwab does the right thing, not just for me, but to restore trust with customers who depend on them for safety.

I pulled up to Take 5 on a Thursday afternoon and all 3 bays were open with people waiting for a car in all of them. After pulling around the building I went to back and fill to easily make the turn into the middle bay (dually means I can't really be turning after I go through the bay door) and the guy who would be taking down all my information attempted to walk up to the drivers door in the middle of this. After the second back up so I was ready to pull in, I rolled the window down. He was friendly and greeted me, but made me feel rushed despite no one else being there. He asked me for the odometer reading and I gave it to him but he fumbled the numbers because he wasn't ready, which was odd but not a big deal. During this interaction and before I ever entered the bay, I asked if they had full synthetic 15W40 as I'd like their Mobil 1 FS oil change option, and he assured me they "probably did, either rotel or Mobil 1." Then, he said "ok and we'll have you in the middle bay today." Again just weird, but ok... and I'm not loving the dismissal and non-answer. So after entering the shop and before anything had been touched I asked again, do you have the Mobil 1 Full Synthetic as I would really not like Rotel. He dismissed me again and asked for name, etc so he could fill out his screen. Now the oil was being drained. Turns out, they don't carry Mobil 1 FS for 15W40!!! Which is the normal oil for most diesels. And after he punched everything into his computer I was asked if I knew what weight for this truck so not only were my questions dismissed but blatantly disregarded. Oil is out of the car already now and to their credit, the guys start trying to come up with a solution. In the midst of all this, I told the short guy who was basically in charge of the communication this whole time (and I really am sorry for not getting his name) that I have an aftermarket air filter, I know it needs replaced and I'm doing that myself tonight -- please don't even touch it or worry about it. He relays to the guy working on the vehicle that yeah she said we're replacing it. That guy comes up and asks "uh, it says you have a ram air filter?" ....Yeah, I know, I said DON'T touch it, I'm replacing it myself. As they start to problem solve, the shorter guy again comes over and goes "don't worry, we'll call O'Reilly's and have it here in 5 minutes." I tell him that they don't carry the Mobil 1 full synthetic for 15W40, I know that, but any FS will do I would just really not like Rotel and I thought that'd been made clear but the oil is drained now so here we are. The guy apparently disregarded and didn't relay this AGAIN, because another guy goes to fetch the oil from O'Reilly's himself and finds they don't have Mobil 1. Shocker, really. At this point they want me gone and, before the short guy comes to talk to me, they begin to fill the oil filter with Rotel FS 15W40. The guy lets me know that that's what they're going to do is change my oil with the Rotel. Now, at this point I've seen it poured into the filter and make its way under the car -- I clarify it's full synthetic at least and he says yes, so I said I guess that's fine. At this point it's already in the vehicle. So, did I technically consent to the Rotel after being disregarded five other times? Yeah, I guess. Clean Rotel is probably better than dirty Mobil1 and I won't dispute that. And I'll be beating myself up for not standing up for myself more but at a certain point it becomes tiresome to have everything you say completely ignored. The fact remains that I was recommending this place to everyone after our experience a couple weeks ago but in one fail swoop they've made it so that I'll never return. Women of Pullman, I was really hoping this place would be different but I guess here's your notice to be wary...
