I attended the Intermediate Course. I was the only woman in the class and I was treated the same as the men which I really appreciated. I was there mainly for riding scooters, but the scooter I had was pretty clunky and difficult to maneuver. Actually, most scooters are probably clunky. This place really deserves more of a 2.5 Stars. For starters - its not a cheap course. $250 per person for a two day (weekend) class. Its really designed for people who have never ridden before in their life. A portion of the day is spent in class watching old videos of "scenarios" to look out for and a little bit of discussion of different bike types and parts of a motorcycle. The other portion of the class is outside in an enclosed lot no more than 40 - 50 years square. Each person gets to hop on a standard style motorcycles and a few dual sports. Which to me is already a downer because my girlfriend and I had bought crotch rockets and was hoping to learn on something more similar to it. I've ridden before so i knew the basic concepts and understood how to ride and the functioning of the bike. This class goes thru the utmost basic controls for someone who has never done so. I was expecting more "safety" education. What to do in real world situations. Practice how to avoid certain situations and how to react when you do get into those situations. However we were taught how to just ride the motorcycle. The second day involved more video watching and more seat time on how to ride and learning basic maneuvering skills. There wasn't much on road safety, rules of the road, or how to avoid common situations. All in all - I think its over priced for what you get IF you already know how to ride. If you have zero clue what you're doing - its worth the time but I can't say its worth the money. You can save it by practicing in a parking lot on your own. As far as the safety videos they did show... youtube provides more up to date examples. read more

I took a 2.5 days weekend Basic Rider Course in Renton, instructors Jeff and Martin. First of all, it's important to know that I really have troubles following any type of theoretical class and I learn best by doing things. So before I signed up, I was a bit worried that if the course is more theoretical than practical, then I wouldn't be able to get much value of it. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and my goal was to understand whether it would be a good idea to get one. And this class turned out to be an excellent way to do it. (BTW, some people complained that the course is too expensive. Make sure you get a subsidized class if you comply -- it's $125 instead of $250.) The course is 8 hours theory, which gives a great introduction into a few things you need to be aware of. And then, the most valuable part from my perspective, -- 8 hours on wheels training. If you can ride a regular (non-motorized) bicycle, then you'll most likely have zero troubles going through the training. I was a bit skeptical about myself being able to do that, but it turned out fine. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, engaging and super polite. (I tend to ask stupid questions and regularly miss portions of important information, but they handled it perfectly.) read more

This is a really mixed bag experience. I feel like it helped me gain some experience and confidence, but it was at the same time kind of a mess, with very conflicting attitudes from instructors who didn't seem like they quite had the teaching experience to understand how to present methods and ideas for consumption in a friendly manner. One in particular (awkward, tobacco stained tooth guy..) was honestly, a grump. Right from the very get go. I'm sure it happens all the time, judging from his attitude, but a group of us were waiting at the front door (silly us, eh?) and he poked his head around the corner and scolded us, stating in the most unnecessary tone that the back door was open and we shouldn't have been there. We weren't late. It was the front door, with 'ENTRANCE' written above it. A completely logical place to be standing. Others were friendly and nice.. There were instances where the other assistant trainer would need to handle one branch of direction, and the grumpy guy handled the other. One being a right hand turn splitting in the middle of the lot, and one branching off to the left to his side. Despite the semi seriousness nature of the training, I did find it pretty funny that the left hand people were avoiding him like the plague and turning right, leaving the nicer instructor with a huge line of people to deal with. One student did mention at one point that he was making her extremely nervous with his tone, and to his credit, he did mellow slightly and apologized, but.. Why was this necessary? In my experience, a gruff tone doesn't help anyone learn anything, ever. We weren't unruly kids. We'd all paid to and were interested in being there. Also, the size of the class.. There were only roughly 10 people in my class, and it didn't seem to leave anywhere near enough time for each chapter of development. In some cases, the slower people. The ones who were having the most problems took up so much explanatory time, that I literally got 2 turns of certain disciplines before they called us over to park the bikes and moved on. This is not enough, and I heard several people muttering the same thing. I feel this was partially because they lumped scooter learners together with motorcycle learners. I may not have been struggling as much as some of the others, but I still don't have the confidence yet to feel that I nailed that bit if I only get to do it twice. This not only leaves out the scooter people with essentially automatic bikes who have nothing to do on any matters to do with gear changes and clutch control, but they also run a lot slower, leaving people on motorcycles not able to pick up enough speed at times to get into second gear, to perform tasks asked of them. I was using a 250cc bike that was really chugging along in second when I was asked to use it, that also had a huge varied friction zone on the clutch that wasn't right. I mentioned it to grumpy guy and was told that it was just me. Not to be a poor student, but it wasn't. And this left me all over the place with slow speed maneuvering while I tried to find it's sweet spot of the moment. Perhaps on a properly warmed up bike, it would have settled in, but it was cold, and we kept on stopping, so I couldn't get there. Another instance of this was when they tried to explain counter-steering to us. I could NOT get up enough speed to practice counter-steering due to a scooter rider in front of me. I asked an instructor about this, honestly not sure if it was me or the speed, and he sheepishly admitted that it didn't look like we'd be able to get up enough speed to try it, which means we were really creeping along. This same thing happened when attempting to score one another while leaning on corners.. Massively too slow. Same scooter rider holding the entire half of the class up to his speed. Nothing was done about it. We moved on, regardless. Again. There's a gap between what I learned and the ability to actually ride on the street with other motorists. They offer an experienced course, but this is for 1000 miles plus riders. There's nothing for license holders who need street experience. If you're not a stone cold learner, or someone with a fair amount of experience I guess you're good here, but I don't think they quite have the material focus right, and in searching for these aspects from other schools, I notice that many other places in the country do offer exactly these balanced lessons. Ones that go from private property, to out on the street, and structured in such a way that move you from one to another, and avoid the abandoned grey areas in an appropriate time to ensure method isn't lost to stagnation. These bridging factors need to happen in a timely fashion to avoid the issues listed here. Came here to take my written and drive tests and I have to say I'm happy I took my tests here. I bought the package where you get the warm up drive then take the test immediately after. Jesse was my tester and he was great. This guy has an incredibly calming voice and is great at teaching you basic maneuvers. All in all I had a good experience and would recommend anyone to take their drive test here. read more

Fantastic Course. Instructors ROB & JEFF - My riding experience has been over 15 years ago riding a small Honda 50CC. Arrived for a Monday/Tuesday Class - 9 - 6:30 Must say I've been wanting to take this course for a long time and couldn't have lucked out with two better instructors. Professional, Experienced, and FUN ! The Classroom time was just the right amount of time to get you anxious to get out there and RIDE. Overall the fundamentals and confidence I gained over the short amount of training time was fantastic. I'd recommend these two instructors for anyone interested in Riding who has 0 to limited experience and is looking for a SAFE, PROFESSIONAL, & FUN training environment. I'd say this course was 75% riding and 25% Classroom - The Range prepares you enough to have enough knowledge to Pass the Written with no problem. There are bikes available fit for every type of build. Pay close attention to instructions and you will have no problems whatsoever. Thanks to ROB and JEFF for a great experience. read more

This was a really fun experience! I took the basic rider course and had Rob and Jeff as my instructors in a class of 10 students. Many students had zero experience riding motorcycles or using a manual transmission, but the training is set-up to teach the basics and keeps building from there - using very structured lessons on the bikes. The instruction was clear, demonstrations were given beforehand and comments and critiques were made during each exercise. By the end of the first day, we were all riding controlled loops around the course. The second day focussed on improving individual skills: low-speed control, doing U-Turns and a slalom course between cones, emergency braking, setting up corners (speed and position), proper corner visualization and emergency swerving and dealing with road hazards. We learned a great deal with the time spent on the motorcycle and the time spent in the classroom was equally rewarding. This course is highly recommended. read more

I really liked the instructors and what the school provided me. I was never able to get my license in the past. So, I went and took the beginners course one weekend and was able to pass the exam on Sunday. I liked it so much and went back Tuesday to attend the intermediate class. Both gave me confidence to start riding. On the first course, I had 2 instructors. On the 2nd, I had one only, a guy who was an ex-cop. Very fun chap ! He recommended me to get a bike and start riding around my block. And as I was getting confidence, to go around 2 blocks. I did this for a week. After that, I started going farther and farther away. Now I am going up to 20 miles in my rides. Great school, great instructors, very patient and I had a lot of fun there. Mario read more

I have had my motorcycle endorsement previously and just took my permit test but it expired due to covid..anyway I was sent to this establishment and it was a complete joke..with incompetent instructors..both on the knowledge and the riding sides.. I took basic riders cause I was told I would get all the test done..they give u the wrong book to study out of ..its not even the Washington state motorycle manual ,on top of that they didn't have enough books for everyone and they all had writing in them from previous students giving wrong advice etc.. the instructors are old and incompetent and waste your time and your money and can't answer simple questions ,or will just shrug it off ..as for the riding instructors it was even worse.. they were racist and making fun of students and making them work hard pushing the bikes around for no reason laughing at them and constantly making fun of them.. I wasted 260$ with nothing to show.. do not go here..this place is not legit and takes your money and wasteds your time.. read more

I took the Health and safety classes at the old seattle location and I worked with the staff on a daily basis and these are some of the best people around when it comes to worker safety. I would recommend Evergreen safety council to anyone who needs Health and safety training from First aid / CPR to lead renovator to accident investigations and more they are the team to trust. read more

This review if for the Basic Motorcycle Programs ESC offers. The class is very disappointing. For starters, the class room portion of the course was simply the students in the class reading the chapters of the DOT motorcycle guide out loud to each other. The instructor could not operate the computer to show us the prepared slide show and he didn't offer any insight in to how to choose a bike, explain safe riding practices or any other motorcycle related topics. He was simply interested in moving through the book as fast as possible so he could get the course finished as soon as possible. In other words there is no real instruction, I could have had my 8 year old read me the DOT booklet and watched a few Youtube videos and gotten more from the experience and saved myself a lot of money. As for the motorcycle riding: Their was an instructor on the course named Jeff who seemed to be very experienced, but that did not make up for the fact that the bikes and equipment are in rough shape. Again, the instructors seemed to be in a hurry to move through things and go home as quickly as possible and they were annoyed by questions or having to make any effort to instruct you. To sum it up, I work hard for my money and I put in a full days work to get it. When I pay for a class, I expect them to work hard for thier money and put in a full days work as well. In the end, if you just want to put in your time to get your endorsement, sign up. If you are looking for some instruction, training or anything beyond the very bare minimum effort, this is not the right place to get it. read more

A must do riding course, for all skill levels Course I attended: Basic Riding Course, 2 day Weekend, Totem Lake center. TLDR - excellent instructors, good learning, great value for your time and money. Here's why I loved this course: 1. The course is very well structured. It has a good mix of concepts and practical application. The instruction is simplified well enough that it build my knowledge ground up and is easy for me to recollect later as well. 2. The instructors - Steve and Jeff are super knowledgeable, patient and have a very engaging teaching methodology. It rained all day, not all of us had the right rain gear, Steve and Jeff were considerate in flexing the schedule while making sure we learnt everything well. They were very inclusive, sensitive and empathetic to individual learning needs. 3. Suitable for all skill levels. I had no prior motorcycle riding experience, while my boyfriend who took the course along with me did. I definitely learnt a lot, and so did my boyfriend who found great value in the fundamental techniques that Steve and Jeff taught. 4. The customer service is really good. Chris was super helpful in answering my questions during registration, and later on when I needed to reschedule. 5. The course is a great blend of learning and fun - My biggest takeaway was the realization that learning to ride a motorcycle is a mind, body, metal connection that can be exhilarating, and one needs both courage and humility to ride safe and have fun. Took the Motorcycle BRT training with Evergreen. Instructors were knowledgeable and great at coaching. The course material was amazing too.

Course instructor started picking on me right from the start. I had zero motorcycle riding experience coming in and wanted to learn the ropes but I was never given a choice. Jeff apparently did not like my accent, ignored some of my questions and stated that I had a "language barrier". This is the first time I have heard this expression applied to me in many years of residing in US. Instead of explaining the concept and then letting person practice Jeff wanted me to "get along with the program" and made repeated threats to kick me out. This was very discouraging and demotivating. Still I felt I was able to keep up and never bumped into anyone or failed any of the tests. In fact there were none; however, it seemed every single exercise was some kind of test in Jeff's eyes. I felt I never got sufficient time to practice because Jeff expected for everyone to move along so he could dismiss the class by 4:30 pm at the end of the day instead of published end time of 6 pm. That was his personal goal he stated at the very beginning. One apparent example of Jeff showing me clear disrespect was our last interaction where he invited me to come over with his index finger rather than calling me by name or coming over by himself. Jeff asked how I was feeling about the program and I replied that my main goal was to try out motorcycle riding and that he was stressing me out by continuously passing judgements and not letting me practice. I also told him that I did not particularly care if I was going to get the certification but I wanted to evaluate my overall experience with the motorcycle and hence asked him to continue letting me practice. That was the last straw for Jeff. He said that I should have picked a different course and that this class was moving much faster than I was prepared for. He told me I should call the academy and ask to be rescheduled for another class that would take all of these steps in slow sequence. With this he made me sign the bottom of the pink sheet in front of classmates adding to my humiliation factor and stating this was the only condition I would get any credit for the money I paid. When I contacted the company the following weekday I was refused any refund. read more

A good training program would teach across the bell-curve, not to a sliver. Assembly-line style instruction. The instructor emphasizes muscle memory for learning to operate a motorcycle, then berates you for not having muscle memory doing totally new operations trying to learn how to ride a motorcycle. A motorcycle is a dangerous piece of equipment. Like working with a circular saw, it's best to proceed carefully until you are absolutely sure you can do the tasks safely. I was told "...this shouldn't be taking so long" and kicked out of the class, no refund. Any program worth its salt would be designed to teach to a variety of students. Spend your money elsewhere, even if you have to spend a little more. read more

Passed the written test First try, scheduled a skills test and they asked me to prepay which I did, they gave me an adress that was hard to find got there 10 min late and the staff was super rude and uncooperative, didn't want to give me my money back or reschedule. Very poor service, and they treat people badly so if you show up even 5 min late they will treat you badly and won't give you your money back or reschedule go elsewhere if you consider this place. read more

Zero Star. I went to this place for knowledge test and planned to go through driving training in this school. While entering the building through the main entrance, not in the way of motorcycles, a motor cycle trainer who was very close to us, started to yell and scream "go around the building". Everyone turned around to see what the hack we did.He could have told us in normal voice like a normal person. I was so embarrassed. I don't know who he is but I hope Evergreen knows whom I am talking about. Before hiring him evergreen should teach him some manners and how to talk to ladies. If he is the owner then there is no fix and I will not recommend anyone this place. I was planning to spend few thousand dollars at this place to get driver training but decided to go another school. Since he set the example for the school, I believe all other teachers would be similar. read more

I took motorcycle basic rider course this weekend, and it was a great experience. Jeff and Martin were our instructors, and both were very helpful, explained everything, pointed at mistakes and suggested how to improve on each exercise. They were very polite and positive. I should say this course is quite challenging for a person who never ridden a motorcycle before, but it is definitely doable with some effort. They teach more than required to pass DOL test, so the test at the end was quite easy. read more

I went to Evergreen driving school to get my drivers license and while I did learn the information about driving I did not enjoy my time there. The teacher made the class hard to stay alert and made you feel bad if you got an answer to one of his questions wrong. What really pushed me over was when we had to change a tire. He had all of the boys change the tire and then when I (I am a girl and was the only girl who got asked to change the tire) was done cranking he had a male check it to see if it was on right. He also made a comment that said "for you girls, if you ever need to change a tire call someone for help or get an electronic thing to use." Also during my drives I was constantly stressed because he would make rude comments and would sometimes yell. It was not just the teacher that made this experience difficult. The people working there were very disorganized and for some reason you couldn't schedule a drive during the weekends which was the only time I could. I also thought that I had taken my final driving test but it turned out to be a practice test that they made you have to pass in order to take the real one. Overall, I would not suggest to go to this driving school. read more
