The previous…read morespecialist didn't notice that my tear duct was cut through, despite my being sent to him for that explicit reason. The previous specialist also used such a thick gauge of stitches, that they began to immediately abraise my cornea after he initially stitched up my eyelid. I count myself extremely lucky that we happened upon Dr. Carey, as he was coincidentally in such close proximity. Dr. Carey's wonderful front desk got me scheduled less than 24 hours after our initial phone inquiry (72 hrs after injury). Within 5 minutes of my visit, Carey informed me that my tear duct had in fact been cut through, "I put the instrument in there and I can see it poking out." Dr. Carey got me scheduled for emergency surgery in the Univ Wash operating room that very same night. 8 hours later, after a one-hour surgery under full anesthesia, Dr. Carey restitched my eyelid with much finer permanent stitches (rather than the thicker dissolvable garbage from previous specialist). Now I could actually get relief from the non-stop scratching on my cornea. Dr. Carey stitched up my badly cut cheek like a master craftsman. He used tiny stitches and expertly line up both sides of laceration. It is now 5 months later and the injury is virtually invisible. And lastly, Dr. Carey ran a 3 inch plastic tube through my tear duct, stitching it in place, to preserve the opening of the canal for 12 months while it heals. In summary, I got excellent emergency surgery from an elite technician 36 hours after my initial phone call. Dr. Carey is in a whole different league regarding his skill set and execution. I cannot recommend him strongly enough.

I'm a completely self admitted anxious medical person, especially given that I have a family history of melanoma and have been monitored closely over the years by my dermatologist. Dr. Carey was so kind, calming, and wonderful throughout this whole process of getting this removed. His staff made everything seamless with scheduling, and answered any questions I had and were so kind when they could probably sense my panic at times about things. I'm almost 2 weeks out from him removing the mole and you can barely tell I had it taken off. I am eternally grateful for his care he has given me and feel so fortunate to have found him. Thank you Dr. Carey!

I have been going to the Ballard Office and Dr. Lam for years and I love her. BUT I have recently…read morehad serious issues in my right eye which required retina surgery and now requires Cataract surgery. Almost 2 months ago I made an appointment for one week from now with Dr. Carroll, also at the Ballard Office. Well today I got a call that he had to do surgeries that day so they had to bump me out to a month from now. I am going to start looking for a different cataract doctor but at this point I will likely have to wait months more. So disappointed. Oh and as some reviews have alluded to - Their online site sucks. Plus I have always had to wait when I have come in for appointments - most of the time at least 30 minutes to an hour. It is a testament to how much I like Dr. Lam that I have stuck with them this long. **Update Edit: Raised the stars to 4 after a same day callback from Dr. Lam's tech - he got me an earlier appointment to see the surgeon and I am now scheduled for surgery. I do really like the people at this facility I just would like to see them get a little more organized. Since my surgery I have been really well taken care of and am really happy. I am making an appointment today to go back in a month for updated glasses!

I am reviewing Eye Associates NW based on our experiences with Dr. Lam, Dr Le, and the worst…read moreoptical department known to man. If there was an option to give zero stars I would've chosen that instead. Absolutely terrible. Our encounters with Dr. Lam from the first visit to now two years later her bedside manners haven't improved and the optical department has only gotten increasingly worse just like Dr. Lam's attitude. If you are someone who likes your provider to be rude/abrasive and super unfriendly then Dr. Lam is the one for you. If you want an optical department that doesn't have their shit together this is also the place for you. Their excuse is always that they're under new management and trying to get their organization in order but there is no excuse for the constant incompetence and there's absolutely no way any management team will be able to properly manage Dr. Lam's ability to drive patient's away with her argumentative, aggressive, unpleasant, and unprofessional behavior. Our daughter has been seeing Dr. Le as her ophthalmologist for the past four years, she's great with nice bedside manners and is good with kids, but the disappointing thing is that we we have come to find out that none of her chart notes correspond with any of our daughter's visits as of the last two years. We commute 1.5 hrs each way to find out today that at each of the appts our daughter has had every 6-9 months for the past two years has not been properly documented NOR do the providers in the same practice communicate with each others office which is the MOST bizarre thing we have ever dealt with. The weird thing is that the optometrist (Dr. Lam) is openly pissed off that we also still see the ophthalmologist (Dr.Le). The reason why we have done this for two years is because 1) Dr. Le doesn't dispense contacts and 2) because Dr. Lam is SO incredibly unlikable that we and our daughter do not feel comfortable with her and do not want to make the full switch to utilize just her as our daughters eye doctor because she is that unpleasant to be around. Initially we thought maybe we met her on a bad day but clearly she has a bad day every day. This practice has terrible communication from within from provider to provider, and also fails to communicate with us about what appointments are exams and which are not. We have been literally wasting our time for appointments that didn't mean anything and didn't get documented properly. We held out hope that things would get better and improve, because we and our daughter genuinely like Dr. Le and find her beside manners and her pediatric patient care to be comforting for our child, but to find out today that the visits our daughter has had recently haven't been properly charted and exams never happening that we thought was the whole purpose of the appts didn't occur is especially frustrating when I specifically asked in February if our daughters eyes were going to be dilated and they responded "nope we'll just check her eyes, everything looks great" to "today's appt is just about contacts you'll have to come back for an actual eye exam." How in the heck has there been NO eye exam performed when every single time we've brought our daughter in to see Dr. Le (most recently in Feb 2026) we got printed glasses prescription, even last May 2025 we brought our daughter for an appt with Dr. Lam and her assistant Andrea specifically told us that since she had just seen Dr. Le a couple days before that Dr. Lam said she didn't need to see to her. Then when I call the optical department regarding an issue with my daughter's contacts I am told that my daughter's prescription is expired. We saw Dr. Lam today and she says my daughters glasses prescription is also expired when we just saw Dr. Le in February, make it make sense! Using a call center that is nowhere near the providers office SUCKS. You can't get ahold of your care team without going through the call center and that's with excessive hold times too and nobody returns calls. The optical dept may not be part of the providers business any longer but they were never good prior to being under new management they're still unimproved and do not return phone calls. You can't contact via patient portal either which is super archaic and inconvenient! Super disappointing experiences!

I ultimately had to wait approximately an hour before I was seen. When Dr. Fung came in, he examined my eye and told me that it appeared to be healing well. I then asked him about a concern I was having--seeing flashing lights when I look to the right. He told me that it was nothing to be concerned about. When I asked whether this was something I should be watching or concerned about, his response was delivered in what I felt was an annoyed and dismissive manner. I asked a few follow-up questions because I wanted to understand what I was experiencing and whether there were any warning signs I should be aware of. Unfortunately, my questions were met with the same irritated attitude. I was left with the impression that he was annoyed that I was asking questions at all. I cannot comment on whether Dr. Fung is an excellent or poor physician when it comes to the technical aspects of his work. However, I do believe that listening to and addressing a patient's concerns is an important part of providing good medical care. I was not impressed with Dr. Fung's bedside manner. Patients should feel comfortable asking questions about their health, particularly following eye surgery, and should feel that their concerns are being heard and taken seriously. In my experience, that was not the case during this visit.

Both doctors are thoughtful about seeking to get to the root of the problem and/or discuss options for prevention if it is an ongoing/chronic issue. My vision was always very good up until the past 5 - 6 years, during which I've had repeated eye infections which have caused pain, discomfort, and blurred vision. Dr. Rerecich discussed immediate treatment options for my current eye infection that I have now (it hurts my eye to look at the screen, which is why my most recent yelp reviews are significantly shorter than usual in length!). Then she discussed a couple of possible preventative measures so I will hopefully get eye infections less often in the future. I chose the preventative option that best fits my preferences, and the doctor gave me 2 free samples of it. :) The receptionists at this office are all consistently friendly, welcoming, and kind. That said, I ended up paying nearly $4,000 for a bunch of stuff...lid cleansing, and 4 IPL treatments for Rosacea and ocular Rosacea. I had inquired from her staff about Excel V which I had read was the gold standard for ocular rosacea and they told me IPL was the way to go. Well, I only saw Dr. one time. The 4 IPL treatments were done by her staff. When I told them it didn't seem to be working about half way through I was told I needed patience so I went for the entire course per Docs recommendation. Not only did it not improve my skin at all, it actually made my eyes worse. Wish they would have laid out my options before rushing me into something that was really not intended for rosacea. Surely as knowledgable as this Dr is she would have known about the procedures such as Excel V and V Beam and could have explained them all so I could have made a choice. When I told the staff it didn't work they just said "ok". No follow up with me by the Dr or anyone else. This did leave me feeling like it was all about the Benjamins to them. Hope I'm wrong but here I sit....my eyes worse then ever, my skin still bad and my bank account much smaller. She came highly recommended and is probably great for dry eyes but I would not recommend her for ocular rosacea at all.
