Front desk and scheduler for surgery could use some process improvement. Regular eye appointments and pre-op/post-op appointments are always running behind. Today, I wasn't even greeted upon arrival, and was told it would be awhile because I was 15 minutes early. They ask for your date of birth in front of all patients in the waiting room which is a blatant violation of HIPPA . Seems very unorganized. However, surgery in the Ballard office was amazing and efficient, and super kind. read more

I've been going to Dr Lam at EANW Ballard for a few years. She is the first eye dr I've been to who takes the time to explain eye health, anatomy, and different options for glasses and contacts. I've learned a lot from her and appreciate being able to work with her. Additionally, today I got to work with Adam prior to seeing Dr Lam, and Adam is professional and funny. It made the appointment very enjoyable. One star is removed because the office tends to run late. It's not inconvenient enough for me to change doctors or offices. read more

I had an eye exam at the end of 2025 and was given a trial supply of contact lenses. When I was done with the trial I asked if I could try a different brand of lenses to test the comfort/duration of use but they said the provider I saw has left the clinic and because of that I would need an entirely new exam with a new provider. That's an absolute racket. My exam is only 2 months old. They must have a detailed clinic note about the exam, it is healthcare after all. A different provider can't just read the note and assign me a different set of lenses to trial? Where is the continuity of care? I'm supposed to pay hundreds of dollars for a second exam because they had employee turnover? Wild. read more

Posting this on yelp because i believe the company deleted my review from google - it will not appear on the google reviews anymore. Below I listed out my experience here. I dont like leaving negative reviews, it makes me feel bad, but i feel a responsibility to let others know how poorly run this place is: 1) assistant rushed through my exam, the doctor didn't perform it. I felt pushed to answer quickly, and they didn't go through as many slides as I normally have in past exams. I told them that something felt off with my vision when looking at the slides, and they said "haha, so 1 or 2?" Then I explained further that each slide is extremely blurry initially, then laser focused after I blink (an effect i haven't experienced before) and they said "oh yeah! 1 or 2?" Instead of trying to figure out what was going on/ or giving me a chance to adjust to the darkness? I still dont know what was wrong 2) right before walking into the appt i asked the front desk person to confirm I would not have any out of pocket charges. They checked everything and said no, it's all covered by insurance there will be no out of pocket charges....they charged me out of pocket after the appt for "contact lens fitting" (?!!) also, I didn't even need that? i've been using the same contacts for years. They couldn't tell me what this "fitting" was when i asked - they circled around giving any actual answer as to what the charge is for (at one point they said, "it's whatever the doctor did in there" what!! (Googled further, maybe my past doctors never charged me for this though? Doesn't help their lackluster response to me , i'm still unsure what this charge is meant for even after my own research, seems scammy. Also they told me NO i wouldn't be charged anything within the same hour! 3) went in to pick up contacts, waited for 30 minutes while the person was on the phone chatting with a coworker even though they had 3 people in line on their "waitlist" - i had to leave because my lunch was over. During this time, i overheard at least 4 people complaining to the front desk about how they had been waiting for over an hour for their appt - it was packed in there, it felt gross. It's been packed multiple times throughout my experience here 4) came back for my contacts a different day. They lost the box, but eventually found it 5) tested my new contacts, and my prescription was completely off, it gave me an instant headache and I couldn't see out my right eye - I compared to my previous prescription and my right eye was off by -0.5 ! 6) they said they'll give a complimentary new prescription, but are unsure if my new contacts will be complimentary too (?!!) 7) The doctor did my exam this time, and agreed with me, and apologized for the prescription mistake. He didn't know if i would be charged for new contacts, I guess their in-office glasses/contacts stand is its own company and they have no idea how it's run.. 8) luckily the glasses/contacts place ordered a new box for me for free because of the doctor's mistake. Only good thing to come out of this office, but it 's not even their business so that isn't being factored into my rating Basically find some place better run where they aren't cramming people in to appts and having their assistants do the exams, and charging fake fees that they can't explain read more

I very much appreciate the skills and manner of Drs. Zollman and Carroll and I return for this. But the office is poorly managed. It persistently asks me for feedback following a visit, but no one appears to be reading it, e.g., if you ask to be called, you aren't. I was schedule for cataract surgery until the MD cancelled ALL the dates for my procedures. A couple of weeks before they would take my eye measurements got an email from them. No apology, nothing except he was booked for July. I explained to them when I made my appointments 5 months prior that August was the ONLY month I managed to clear so I did not have to fly. I travel over 100k for work. I sent a very unhappy email. There was no other time this year for me to reschedule because I had shifted all I could to the remainder of the year so I could have my procedures in August. Friend who recommended the surgeon to me got a call from the office a month later saying the MD was retiring. Note he had already closed his practice to retinal patients several years prior. She was a former retina patient. Two months later on the day I would have gotten my second eye done. I get a call from them telling me that the MD is retiring. Would I care to transfer to another MD to get my cataracts done. Really!!! Three and a half months after the single email canceling my procedures. The time for a phone call would be a week after they canceled the procedure dates. The Ballard office seems to be a mess. read more

This review refers to Eye Associates billing department. I paid for what I thought was an un-reimbursable part of my bill, $150. Then I found out that they billed my insurance company for the same fee and received $100 of what I paid. When I had not received the refund I called and they said that they did not have a system of refunding patients and it was up to the patient to call and request a refund, or they could get a credit toward the next visit. When I asked the billing manager was I ever given a choice, they would not answer the question. This is an extremely disreputable practice putting the burden onto the patient to take the time to call, wait, discuss the issue and then encounter lack of accountability. I am scheduled for 3 eye surgeries. I hope they go well. Working with the schedulers has been frustrating. Communication is abysmal. Messages aren't returned. There has been little follow-up on what is to me very important. The new doctor assigned to me has zero " bedside manners." DON'T GO HERE. If your goal is to see better, I suggest you go elsewhere. I used to be a patient here a few years ago but was frustrated that every time I had an appointment, they consistently ran 30-45 minutes late. They seem to cram in appointments and always fall behind. So I switched providers but ended up coming back when my insurance changed and the other provider no longer accepted it. Last month, I went in for an exam for new glasses and contacts prescriptions. Dr. Ted Zollman ordered sample contacts for me to try as they were out of stock. Two weeks later, they arrived and I tried them. They worked well so I called and asked that I be given the prescription for them so I can order a full box. They told me they didn't have it in their records that Dr. Zollman gave me a sample box. I was told they needed to connect with him and they'd call me back. A week later...nothing. I called and left a message. A week later...nothing. I called and talked to someone who said they'd get back to me...nothing. I sent emails...nothing. So essentially, I PAID for a contact lens exam and prescription but received nothing. And here I am typing this review with blurry vision. Now I have to see a new provider for a contacts prescription because Eye Associates Northwest has not gotten back to me, but I will have to pay out of pocket because I used my yearly contacts exam with them but received nothing. If I could give this place a zero or negative star rating, perhaps 5 blackholes, I would. read more

Checked in before my appointment time, 25 minutes later asked when will the doctor be ready for me and if typical to this behind. Receptionist brushed it off and said no not usually. Told I was next. Another 10 minutes later another patient gets called back for my doctor. Asked again what's going on, given a random answer that somehow that person is already logged as being back there, but you're next. I would give my eye doctor a five star but the company itself I am being generous with a one star. I've already lost 50% of my eyesight in one eye I went for my six month checkup after talking to customer service and billing a couple of times prior - and the clinic in edmonds denied to see me because of the past due balance from 2023!! This is my EYESIGHT hey are playing with!hey turned me away due to a balance from 2 1/2 yrs ago that I was trying to dispute because I was supposed to have a laser eye surgery in Seattle location and their laser broke and every time I called to see if it was working I would get a snarky response like WE don't know when the technician will fix it. I had to pay hundreds of dollars to start fresh with a different ophthalmologist in Bellevue and pay for all the same tests i had already done at Eye Assoc - which I could not afford to do. Now I cant even get my critical pressure checked because the company cares more about money than they do about people's eye site. read more

It's been 1 month since my appt and I haven't received my glasses or sample eye contact lenses. Left a few voice messages and haven't got any calls back. Dr. McKillop is totally amazing and we were so happy with his care. However, we were transitioned to different doctors in the practice. My mother was transitioned to 3 different eye doctors in several years. We are okay with our new doctor, but due to the transitions, my mom had glaucoma that got so much worse she is almost blind. The new doctor gave her a good surgery to drain the eye, but I don't understand why it wasn't done sooner. Even preserving some sight would have been a blessing to my mother. read more

The care I received from Dr Lam was quite good as was the care I received from her nurse. However, the optical shop that is associated with the doctor's office has provided me with completely inept service. My contact lens prescription has been incorrect twice. I still don't have the right ones. I have called to leave messages, but no one calls me back. See the doctors, but do not get glasses or contacts there. read more

They are terribly understaffed, you will get no help and they are unreachable by phone (which also applies to their other locations). Don't expect an apology if they screw up. No one from billing has returned my calls/messages in over one month of trying. I had a really great experience with Dr Ted Zollman at the Ballard location! The technician was pretty great too. It's a little bit difficult to locate at first, but I had an easy time finding parking and, most importantly, I felt respected and well treated. The receptionist didn't seem too enthusiastic about her job, but hey, I get it. I'm going to assume she just wasn't having the best day or something. She wasn't unkind or anything just not particularly friendly. However, my experience with the doctor (who was wearing really colorful socks ) and the technician made this a five star review. I love when I find a nice doctor. He seems very knowledgeable about eye care and he wasn't even a little bit pushy about trying to make me purchase their glasses. He printed an eye glass prescription without me having to ask for it. I highly recommend this clinic for high quality eye care. read more

Paid a bunch for an annual exam and contact fitting. I also told them I had felt like something was in my eye and waited 3 weeks to get in.... The doctor seemed irritated to be there and bored.... Initially said my eye was fine, but I insisted he look closer in the specific area. He then noticed the assist which he was able to drain which relieve the problem. I paid for the visit went home with my contact prescription and when I got home, realized I had not received my eyeglasses prescription so I asked by calling the clinic for this. They said I would have to come back and have another measuring done to be able to get an updated eyeglass prescription. I personally think this is ridiculous and am seeking my healthcare elsewhere. read more

This place is ok. I've been here for close to 10 years, but lately they are ALWAYS running WAY behind. In fact, if you do not have an appt before 9am, figure they may be 30 min to 1 hour or more late in calling you back. Once I came with my kid for an appt at 3:30 and they said they were running TWO hours late!!! Once I came in, and there was a Medical Assistant that had no idea what he was doing- he was from a different branch and had not been oriented to any of the equipment or methods. He told me he was going to put a needle close to my eye until another MA came in and said they had more modern equipment to use for the diagnostic test. Yikes! Another time, I brought my child in for an exam, and because we didn't want to do the dilation, the dr who I will not name told me "If I wanted that kind of eye exam, to go to Costco". It was very disheartening and made an anxious kid feel even worse, rather than starting from a place of trying to figure out why the child was nervous about the test and educating. I'm switching as soon as I can find a better place. It's gone downhill lately. read more

I have had a terrible experience with this business. Have been trying to get a new supply of contact lenses. Starting 5 weeks ago I left the first of three weekly messages on their specific phone line for "if you'd like to order contacts". NOBODY every returned any of these phone calls. I finally walked into the office, waited 30 minutes to speak with the optician who took my money and said the contacts would be there in 3-5 business days. When I told her that nobody had returned my three calls she said "yeah, that happens alot". No further explanation or apology. Two weeks later I hadn't heard back (and I knew from experience that calling was useless) so again I walked in and waited 20 minutes for the optician. She was not able to find my contacts said she would call me later. Called later said she had reached the company and contacts would arrive the following monday. Monday I walked in again, contacts were not there (and again I had to wait). I requested contact information for the manager and was given the card for the supervisor of the optical department. Left him a very clear message - no response. It is now two days later. Nobody has called me. My contacts are being held hostage. I can't remember the last time I experienced such HORRIBLE customer service. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

I ended up having to go back for 4 separate appointments because their treatments didn't work. It's now September and I'm still having issues with my eye. This is a review of the First Hill (Madison) location. I have really mixed feelings about this place. I started going there after I moved downtown, and my regular ophthalmologist (who I had seen for 20+ years) retired. When you walk in, it is sometimes a complete circus, with people lined up back to the elevators waiting to be checked in. The waiting area looks like it's from 1960s Russia. It's a big, open space with a few chairs scattered about, but no sofas, no plants, no décor. It's really odd. The rest of the office is similar - very little art on the walls (and what is there was obviously hung up by a 3rd-grader: things lumped together in odd combinations, and everything hanging askew). I always have to laugh at the pictures of the doctors by the front door. You can tell some of the pictures were taken and framed at the same time (same background and size) and most were obviously done later (different backgrounds, different sizes, different colors), but with no regard to how they would all look together. All of this make the place seem very, very cheap. The doctors I've seen there have been OK, but care nothing about bedside manner or even being friendly -- it's just about how quickly they can get you out. I had my second appointment there today, and I think I'll look for a different practice for next time.ThiT read more

Dr Nathan Wilbanks performed cataract surgery on my right eye 2 years ago. i opted for laser assisted procedure (at a substantial added out of pocket cost) in hopes of a better outcome. 2 days later vision in that eye was a fog bank. While that resolved over time, i subsequently had a torn retina in that eye, leading to three additional eye surgeries. i cannot say the torn retina was related to the cataract surgery, but cataract repair is one of the conditions listed as contributing to torn retinas. While I could list more negative experiences at the clinic, suffice it to say I do not recommend Eye Associates NW for any vision services. My wife and I both experienced several bad outcomes at that clinic (with several different Drs and office staff.) It was always busy as a meat market. Zollman fine. Technician great. Have been unable to make an appointment for my daughter's first contacts instruction with a 'trainer' (which wasn't available for her at the Edmonds office, so ANOTHER appt. with someone else would be necessary). Have spoken with literally SIX DIFFERENT PEOPLE at the 'call center' (no has called back in THREE WEEKS). Each different phone number on each different office website leads to the CALL CENTER, so I cannot speak with anyone at the office we went to...I also went to fill the prescription at Costco, and I had only gotten two copies of a prescription for glasses, NOT A CONTACT PRESCRIPTION. Horrible service. I am going to start over again with someone else, even if I have to pay out of pocket. read more

Cataract surgery on both eyes and all follow up appointments with Nathan Wilbanks MD and Timothy Mock MD, who had a team approach to ensure they agreed on the optimum results for me. They patiently and thoroughly explained what to expect. For the surgeries, I experienced a caring, professional staff which helped to calm me down - it was like 10 supportive nurturing mothers looking after me. The follow-up appointments also had well-trained professionals who did an excellent job. I did not have long wait times like another reviewer did but it was quite punctual. Medical care at EANW is excellent, and Dr. Carroll at the Ballard location is excellent. BUT...DO NOT, under any circumstances, use their optical department! It is a separate business and is a complete shit show. Order your glasses and contacts elsewhere - even another EANW location would be better. (Zolanda at Northgate is awesome.) Annette is the only person staffing the Ballard optical department, and she is beyond incompetent. She NEVER answers the phone or returns phone messages. She does not know how to fit glasses, just hands them to you and says, looks pretty good. She gives nonsensical answers like, you can't order just one lens (!) - which of course you can, and I did. But then she failed to actually place the order, which took months to discover. She does not remember or write down anything, and I honestly think she has cognitive issues - when another office reached out to her to get my lens, she claimed to know nothing about it - but she put it in the interoffice mail that same day! read more

I had a terrible experience. This practice is unsafe and unprofessional. First Dr. Mock prescribed me medicine he said was safe to take while breastfeeding; however, when I asked the pharmacist they said it was not safe to take while breastfeeding. Then I saw Dr. Copperman and he tried to give me a shot that is not safe for breastfeeding without asking me if I am pregnant or breastfeeding first. I had to stop him and ask if it was ok, and it wasn't. Then I came back because he told me he could remove the bump on my eye and it would be ok for breastfeeding. I even called the front desk to confirm how he would numb my eye to check with my pediatrician first. The front desk gave me the wrong information. When I came in for the appointment, Dr. Copperman then said he couldn't do it. After he was the one who told me to make the appointment. I wasted an hour. He was also shaming me, making it seem like I was a bad mom and upset because I couldn't get the bump removed, when in reality I was mad he didn't give me the right information the first time I came in. read more

Avoid this office if you care about cleanliness. I desperately needed an eye exam for glasses, or else I would have walked out. This Dr. office was dirty. First, their optician was trying to hide how sick they were. Their cough rattled in their chest, and they clearly had covid-like symptoms. They sniffled the entire time I waited 50 minutes past my appointment time. The exam room they put me had worn stained carpet, the chair had dust and a crumb-like material in its folds, random bits of grass, a paperclip, dirty tissues were on the floor, and the doorknob was gooey. The person doing the exam attempted not to wear gloves. This office was just busted, worn, and filthy. The person administering the exam was not experienced, they spoke in a very immature manner and didn't show the confidence a real professional would have. Next time, I'll choose another office that is and appears clean. read more

I am surprised to see all the negative reviews and a little glad I didn't see them until afterwards. This isn't my normal eye doc but I started having major issues with my eyes on a Sunday and just started calling around Monday morning and they were able to get me in 40 minutes later. My issue turned out to be fairly serious and the Dr. made time in her schedule to see me again the next day (even as she was prepping to leave for vacation) and make sure my case was well taken care of as she was leaving for vacation. I will forever be thankful they took the time to deal with my eye emergency. I tried to switch to them as my regular doc on a go-forward basis and found their pricing exorbitantly expensive. I was quoted $250-500 plus extra for tests for an eye exam and then an additional $200 plus for a contact lense fitting. I'll stick with costco for that since they charge an inclusive rate of $120 and my eye issue was not in anyway related to this. read more

I followed this Doc to Eye Associates and have watched it go slowly down hill. I like my Doctor and wish he would find another practice. Sadly my husband and I will find a better eye care practice. We switched insurances and were told that Eye Assoc. would cover the initial yearly visits and we would have a copay. Then learned that they would not cover refractions or annual exams. We learned this after my husbands appointment. He had not seen the eye doctor in 2 years he was seeing double, I wanted his eye pressures checked, to check for cataracts, and check his macula. This would be a health concern visit. The insurance denied the claim because they said he had an exam and a refraction and not a health related visit. So I got on the phone and called both Eye Assoc and the insurance. The insurance said for them to rebill it properly. I realized we would have to pay for the refraction. Eye Associates will not resend the bill to the insurance because they said that he did not have a health problem after he saw the Doc. Yes, he did he continued to see double and just because everything else was good; the lady in the billing department said that they would not resend the bill. I said well isn't it good that his eye pressures, no cataract and macula look good. She told me that they would resend the bill if the Doc would have found a problem. My husband did go in for the eye surgery and they dinged us another $5000.00 to raise the lid on the other eye. We were told that the insurance will only pay for one eye lid at a time. So I really think that we got taken advantage of and do not know if there is a recourse. Who do you contact to have them checked out? read more

Horrible experience with the optical for them. Our 1 year old was informed by his Dr there that he needs glasses to correct an issue. We did so as soon as we could. However they overcharged $500 for glasses I could of ordered on my own online for $119. Being that this was our Dr's office I thought it was best. Granted we will do whatever we can for our child just think it's best to let patient's know all their options especially when insurance doesn't cover the cost for you. Also the staff was extremely rude in the optical center particularly a young woman there. I want to help anyone I can not experience this. Love our doctor but I will never do business with the optical side of this business again unless it's an emergency. They take forever to get a response and say it's due to covid.
