We were really scared. I called Incline and they put me in touch with Pete, who is the nicest young man. He is so fast with communication - he responds within a couple of hours via email. He came right over, measured and gave me an immediate estimate - all the while telling me that he didn't think him installing gutters would fix the issue. I mean, he could have just sold me gutters, but they're HONEST people. So I ended up buying the gutters because I'd tried everything else, and they were very reasonably priced. Fast installation, and my husband just looked at them - they installed gutter guards without us even requesting them! That was such a nice surprise. So I had them out again to see if they could troubleshoot the leak. Within 10 minutes, the guy seemed to isolate the issue and made a recommendation. My husband just fixed it and the leak stopped. So Incline saved us a ton of trouble and money by just being good guys. Finally, I cross a dangerous intersection with my children everyday which is near their business. They're the most considerate drivers, and always pause to look for pedestrians in the crosswalk. I know that might be a silly thing to point out, but their attention to safety is important. They didn't follow up, i had to call them to try to get a price, and when i did get a hold of them they forgot about my bid, then just gave me oral guess 2500-3800K for my project and then call me back later the same day to give me another oral guesstimate of 6500-7000 K for roof repairs. They seemed unorganized, lazy, and didn't want to do my project. It would've been better if they declined early instead of wasting my time and theirs.

My friend had them build a garage in St Paul. She wanted me to look it over because she was having…read moreissues and was concerned about Sussel not doing the work properly. My first look inside I saw the concrete floor was not finished correctly. Know how the sidewalk or walkways you see everywhere outside? That's what they did inside. troweled crack control joints and the floor was not troweled flat at all. The lighting was done incorrectly and not according to plan. Not a single light was installed over the workbench but off to the other wall instead. the sheetrock wasn't hung in any timely matter at all. missing vapor barriers. She told me that they charged her $1500 for electric service connection which she later found out that $300 was what Excel charged Sussel. The subs Sussel uses must be getting shorted on pay for them to do such shoddy and incomplete work. Can't think of any other reason for them to not care about getting it done correctly. She said she has not been successful in getting them to fix anything and they sued her when she tried withholding the last payment. I really feel sorry for her getting taken by a company that really does shoddy work. I've read other reviews about Sussel and it really seems to be about which subs they use. My advice? Hire your own subs. Make sure everyone sticks to the blueprint.

One contractor shows up every few days, parks illegally (well over a foot from the curb) then sets up a table saw across from his truck. Only one car can pass at a time, and he sets up like this every time he is here (which is nowhere near every day). I can't speak to the price or the quality of the work, but professionalism and speed are clearly not priorities for this company.

Living in a high rise the building has specific rules and a special elevator to use for building…read morematerials and any other large or dangerous items that could cause injury or damage to the elevator or persons in the elevator. You can request the service elevator or make reservations to use it for a block of time. Empire door and glass refused to use the service elevator reserved for them. Empire Door and glass told me they didn't have time to wait for the service elevator, they completely filled the private elevator with heavy duty steel balcony sliding doors and a pair of 4 foot by 4 foot windows. So they choose to take another elevator besides the one reserved for them. This caused other people to wait for yet another elevator, but also is dangerous and reckless behavior that damaged the unprotected elevator. The employees were rude, and surprised I even got into the private elevator with them, as if it was theirs. Rude and unprofessional on the job, I would highly recommend you find another company for your door and window needs as this company does not appreciate the space they are working in, or the rules that apply. This makes me concerned about the quality of work, and other shortcuts they probably make. An extremely unprofessional experience. Another concern was they wore no uniform. Old jeans and dirty boots. Then to make things worse, instead of using the loading dock they brought these items through the front lobby, and front entrance to load them into a pick up and a van parked illegally in a no parking zone in front of the fire station, blocking any emergency vehicles such as an ambulance, or several fire trucks from exiting, blocking access. Unbelievable ignorance and arrogance with poor judgement does make this company your worst option. Disregarding rules on premise, as well as the no parking zone, but also blocking emergency vehicles from exiting is just the third strike. There are many better companies you could use. I wish everyone a better experience than we had, good luck.

We have referred them to family and friends--three of those referrals have resulted in projects--and until recently, trusted them without hesitation. Historically, price transparency was something they were willing to provide. Unfortunately, something has changed. Most recently, we were quoted $30-35K for a relatively straightforward mudroom remodel and back door installation. When the formal bid came in at a single lump sum number over $40K with some modest scope additions, we asked for additional transparency into that singular number to understand how much each part of the project was costing so we could determine where adjustments could be made. We were told that a further breakdown of the lump sum would not be provided. Over the next two weeks, we removed multiple significant items from the project scope, yet the total price barely changed in response. We asked repeatedly for greater transparency to understand what was still comprising the lump sum price we were being quoted and never received it. At a certain point, the math just did not add up, and it became increasingly difficult to reconcile the number we were being quoted by Plekkenpol with the project scope. When we expressed frustration with the lack of clarity, the response was dismissive and unhelpful. We were told that regardless of project size--even on significantly larger projects--additional price transparency would not be shared and that we should trust them that we are getting the best price. To be clear, this was not about the money--it was about transparency and partnership. We simply wanted to know what we were being charged for. Because Plekkenpol would not tell us how they arrived at their lump sum price, we ultimately chose to end our long-standing relationship and move on. We recently recommended to another family that they consider Plekkenpol, but after this experience, feel obligated to advise them not to proceed due to Plekkenpol's unwillingness to provide transparency in pricing.
