Can you shorten sleeves on leather jacket? Will need to be shortened at the shoulder as there is a zipper the cuff. Jacket is second hand and I don't want to spend too much. Also what is the price range?

We are sorry that we are not equipped with the leather machines. We can only perform any alterations on the cloth fabrics. Thanks.

My freshman year of college and on the first day of ECON 2116, I'm sitting in class and my…read moreprofessor said something to me, the enormity of which, I would not fully comprehend until a few decades later. He continued that in this class we would learn about supply/demand curves, calculating present value analysis, and Game Theory. But before all that, he said, if there was nothing else that we left his class with it was this basic truism: "The majority of financial decisions you make in life, can be simplified into trading your time for money." Sounds simple enough, and as a somewhat know-it-all 18 yr old, I thought my prof was full of crap, but now I see how accurate that statement was. Should I take a few extra minutes the night before to prep my food to brown bag lunch or spend $10-$15 eating out? Spend 1-2 hours mowing my lawn, bagging my yard clippings, and collecting leaves - or - spend $100-$200/month on a lawn service. Use my 10 yr old Mr. Coffee machine and a bag of Kirkland brand coffee or make a Starbucks run in the morning? Or as referenced in this review, spend 1-2 hours during the weekend to wash and iron my "work clothes," or use a dry cleaner? Pre-Pandemic, I would schlep into my office 4 days a week in downtown DC and 10 months out of the year, I had to either wear a shirt/tie or a suit. Not that I minded that, but I HATED having to wash and press my own shirts. Dress slacks are easy...men's shirts are a pain. You gotta remember to pre-treat the the collar, and no matter how much starch I sprayed or times I went over a section of the sleeve, the garment would still be a bit "wrinkly." I started using Sandy's Cleaners around 2017 and have a loyal customer ever since. Small local family owned business, and believe it or not, all of the garments are actually cleaned there ON-SITE!!! Most dry cleaners actually send their clothes out to an off-site facility where they are bulk cleaned. Not at Sandy's. There is a plant on the premises, and the friendly folks have always done a great job with my professional wardrobe. What I especially like, is if there is a particularly challenging stain, they will examine said stain and let you know if it can be removed or not. 9 times of out 10, they've been able to get out that errant coffee drip or ketchup splatter on my shirt...but if they can't, they let me know ahead of time. Now that I'm back in my office 2-3 days a week, I find myself dropping stuff off here again on a weekly basis; which is not a big deal since this is just a short detour from my weekly COSTCO run which is 5 min away. Could I go back to laundering and pressing my own shirts at home...sure, but why would I want to "waste" a perfectly good Sunday evening doing this chore when I can outsource it for a reasonable fee? Admittedly, my professor's "advice" was his take on the old "time is money" adage, but his words have held much value as I've progressed through life. Note: Sandy's only accepts cash and personal check. As of this review, men's shirts are $1.85 which is also cheaper than most other places.

There was a serious issue with my $3,000 goose fur jacket. Instead of being dry cleaned as…read moreexpected, it was machine-washed, completely flattening the fur and ruining the jacket beyond repair. The jacket wasn't even dried, rather soaked in water at the time of the pick up. The staff acknowledged the fact that there was a huge mistake and it was rather washed in water than being dry cleaned, and the label itself said "laundry". When I brought this up to the associate, they mentioned they needed to speak with their boss(Jeff) to determine if anything could be done to fix it. However, this kind of damage was irreversible. Given the circumstances, I insisted that they compensate me for the jacket, as this was a clear case of negligence. Jeff denied the fact that it was machine washed despite the staff and video proof of jacket being soaked in water, and the label itself saying "laundry", and said I'd have to contact the manufacturer for repair. This experience was extremely frustrating, and I am now left with a completely ruined jacket. If a dry cleaner cannot properly handle high-end garments, they should not accept them in the first place. I expected professional care, but instead, my jacket was completely ruined, and they refused to compensate me for it. I was also charged extra for stain removal on a shirt with tough stains. However, when I picked it up, the stains were still there, exactly the same as before, meaning the extra charge was completely unjustified.

This place is great. Fast service and excellent prices. The staff is very good too. Try it out!read more

ALTERATIONS REVIEW - Extremely Disappointed with Service…read more I'm very disappointed with how I was treated here and feel compelled to share my experience. The first time I came in, the owner helped me because the seamstress wasn't available. That experience was perfectly fine--she rushed my alterations and had the dress ready in a few days. I appreciated the efficiency and professionalism. However, my second visit was a completely different story. I brought in two dresses and met with the seamstress this time. She was cold, dismissive, and made it very clear she didn't want to be there. Almost like I was disrupting her work. When I asked if the bust on one of the dresses could be taken in to minimize cleavage, her response was a flat-out "no". As I was leaving, she asked when I needed the dresses and snapped, "I'M BUSY!" As if my business was an inconvenience to her. It was honestly shocking. When I picked up the dresses and tried them on at home, I was unhappy with one of the alterations. The dress didn't lay right and looked better before the changes. I returned to have the stitches removed, and once again, the seamstress made it clear she wasn't happy to see me. She pouted, made exaggerated expressions, and acted like fixing it was a huge burden. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I am a paying customer, and I expected to be treated with basic courtesy and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I won't be returning and will be taking my alterations elsewhere.

Normally good but my last experience was unacceptable. I dropped off my husbands $500 suit on…read more11/6/23, that he has worn 3-4 times (which they have dry cleaned every time). A few days later my husband got several voicemails that were difficult to understand as it kept going in and out. I went in and they let me know they ripped my husbands pants while dry cleaning them, which they proceeded to blame on us, even though the suit is basically brand new, has only been dry cleaned by them AND they weren't ripped when we brought them in. The woman behind the counter who claimed to be the manager let me know to come back after Thanksgiving and that she would repair the pants at no cost and that I would not need to pay for the dry cleaning. Fair. Things happen, I will move forward. I returned today, 11/29/23 and it was a different woman behind the counter. I explained the situation and she said she would have to call her boss to confirm, totally fine. I could hear it was a man on the phone who I have never met before, she handed me the phone and he told me I had to pay. I explained everything again and he asked me to come back later so he can talk to me in person to better understand the situation and we could work something out. I told him I couldn't come back later and that I needed my suit back and should be honored what I was told. After I told him that, he "suddenly" remembered the situation and that I needed to pay even though I was told otherwise. We went back and forth and he just kept demanding I pay. I wanted to get out of there and knew I wouldn't be back. I paid for my overpriced dry cleaning ($27.15) and let him know I would just write a review. It's disappointing as they have been great in the past and are close to where I live. The ladies behind the counter are great but it was the hostile man on the phone that ruined the experience. Had they simply honored what they told me they would do, I would be coming back and not writing this review. SIDE NOTE: While looking at the pants there seem to be stains that 1) weren't there when we dropped them off 2) don't seem to have been treated. Incredibly frustrating. Stains & patched rip shown in pictures.
