My freshman year of college and on the first day of ECON 2116, I'm sitting in class and my professor said something to me, the enormity of which, I would not fully comprehend until a few decades later. He continued that in this class we would learn about supply/demand curves, calculating present value analysis, and Game Theory. But before all that, he said, if there was nothing else that we left his class with it was this basic truism: "The majority of financial decisions you make in life, can be simplified into trading your time for money." Sounds simple enough, and as a somewhat know-it-all 18 yr old, I thought my prof was full of crap, but now I see how accurate that statement was. Should I take a few extra minutes the night before to prep my food to brown bag lunch or spend $10-$15 eating out? Spend 1-2 hours mowing my lawn, bagging my yard clippings, and collecting leaves - or - spend $100-$200/month on a lawn service. Use my 10 yr old Mr. Coffee machine and a bag of Kirkland brand coffee or make a Starbucks run in the morning? Or as referenced in this review, spend 1-2 hours during the weekend to wash and iron my "work clothes," or use a dry cleaner? Pre-Pandemic, I would schlep into my office 4 days a week in downtown DC and 10 months out of the year, I had to either wear a shirt/tie or a suit. Not that I minded that, but I HATED having to wash and press my own shirts. Dress slacks are easy...men's shirts are a pain. You gotta remember to pre-treat the the collar, and no matter how much starch I sprayed or times I went over a section of the sleeve, the garment would still be a bit "wrinkly." I started using Sandy's Cleaners around 2017 and have a loyal customer ever since. Small local family owned business, and believe it or not, all of the garments are actually cleaned there ON-SITE!!! Most dry cleaners actually send their clothes out to an off-site facility where they are bulk cleaned. Not at Sandy's. There is a plant on the premises, and the friendly folks have always done a great job with my professional wardrobe. What I especially like, is if there is a particularly challenging stain, they will examine said stain and let you know if it can be removed or not. 9 times of out 10, they've been able to get out that errant coffee drip or ketchup splatter on my shirt...but if they can't, they let me know ahead of time. Now that I'm back in my office 2-3 days a week, I find myself dropping stuff off here again on a weekly basis; which is not a big deal since this is just a short detour from my weekly COSTCO run which is 5 min away. Could I go back to laundering and pressing my own shirts at home...sure, but why would I want to "waste" a perfectly good Sunday evening doing this chore when I can outsource it for a reasonable fee? Admittedly, my professor's "advice" was his take on the old "time is money" adage, but his words have held much value as I've progressed through life. Note: Sandy's only accepts cash and personal check. As of this review, men's shirts are $1.85 which is also cheaper than most other places. read more

This place was great! It was very reasonably priced- Walton Saturday with the 20%off! Ready in just a few days and job well done! Depending on which direction you are coming from, it's difficult to get into the lot because of the no u turn sign. Otherwise, happy with the service! read more

Dropped off my things on Saturday and was ready by Tuesday. I did not have a go to for dry cleaning, but the professionalism here is not matched by many. I will be a regular at this establishment. read more

I have been going to Sandy's since 2002. They are the best cleaners in the DC area and well priced.

Friendly, family run business. Great laundry and dry cleaning service at very reasonable prices. You can also get alterations and mending done here. read more

Cash only :) I love Sandy's! They are amazingly polite and accurate in their abilities to remove stains. Sandy's managed to make my white Northface WHITE again! It was a miracle, if I do say so myself. I mean, you should have seen the thang! They've never lost a single article of my clothing and have never let me down. read more

What do you really want from a dry cleaner? You want them to be open when you need them and do a good job at a fair price. That's Sandy's. The place isn't the Ritz, but it doesn't need to be. You go in, you are out in a few minutes, if that. They are courteous and prompt. They don't take credit cards, but I consider that a fair trade off for being a good business and conveniently located. Been going here for 4 years now. See no reason to go elsewhere. read more

I have been a Sandy's Custom Cleaners for maybe 20 years! Always top quality service, friendly people. They have never been late delivering to me. Hard working good people. I never had a problem with them Highly recommended read more

Always on time. Always well done. Always up front about difficult stains: "We'll try our best, but no guarantee on that stain, sir." But they have always managed to get it out, no matter what! read more

This is the best dry cleaners in the area. Prices are extremely reasonable, clothes come back clean and perfectly pressed without over-starching, and they know their customers -- when I pull up outside, often times my stuff is already hanging on the rack ready to be picked up before I even walk in the door. Great place. Even since I've moved to Arlington from Springfield, I still make the 20 minute drive since the service and price is worth it. read more

So glad I found them! No only do they offer quality dry cleaning, but they do exemplary alterations. I have a pair of trousers that I refused to get rid of, even though I lost some weight and they didn't fit anymore, so I asked them to take them in 1/2 in. on each side. My trousers look like a brand new pair of pants. They also replaced the invisible hem that was unraveling on two dresses from H&M, and perfectly stitched up a side split on a skirt. It's as if I have brand new clothes because they did such a great job. Side note: They only take cash or check for the time being and they offer 20% off on Saturdays. read more

I love Sandy's. They do a really good job and the prices are cheap compared to other places I have gone to. They really focus on customer care, my stuff are usually hanging at the pickup counter as soon as I pull into the parking lot. They have also done a few tailoring jobs for me, I have been really happy with their work. One last thing - 20% OFF on saturdays!!!!! read more

Love Sandys. The staff are so polite and friendly! They make your dry cleaning experience a breeze. I always lose my slips but they always can find my order based on my phone number and reprint, with no complaints. They do a great job on the clothes, have very reasonable prices, and even help carry larger orders to your car. I really appreciate the customer service. The only thing Im not crazy about it their payment policy. They do not accept credit cards. This is a pain for the larger orders (just had one for $300). However, the absolute great customer service, quality of their cleaning, and great pricing still keep them in the 5 star rank! read more

Sandy's cleaners had an electrical fire this past 10/12/2012. They are in the process of getting all the smoke damage cleaned from everyones clothes. If the damage cleaning does not work, the insurance companies will pay out the monies for our damaged clothes. The owners anticipate the place to re-open in 3-4 weeks, but anything to do with damage or renovations means longer time. I was sorry to hear that this happened and hoping that my clothes aftr being cleaned by the smoke damage company will be ok. If not , then they will have to pay me out for my dress shirts. Thank you read more

Friendly service at an excellent price. Clothes are cleaned onsite. Drop off on Wednesday for the best price.

I live in Washington, D.C. But work across the street from the place. GREAT prices. Wednesday is $3 pant day. Shirts are $1.25. A deal! Very nice customer service. read more

Awesome place. Been using them for about 15 years. They always have my clothes in great shape when promised, sometimes ready even before I walk in the door. Great prices and friendly service also. They have allowed me to get my clothes even if I'm short on cash, making it up next time. I only wish they took credit cards, but this might add to their expenses. read more

Sandy's is awesome and we come here every week. They have special pricing on Wednesdays and Saturdays and they always do a great job. They remember customers' names and are always friendly. Thanks Kevin! read more

We were looking for a dry cleaner near Kingstowne. Tried Crest once. OVER $100!! Can't afford that weekly. So I looked on Yelp for another place and discovered Sandy's. It's a 4 mile drive and totally worth it!! Our clothes come back neat and clean. They do great work!! We drop off on Saturdays for the 20% discount. Easy in and out. Friendly. Cash only. read more

Great cleaners with reasonable prices. I had custom drapes and comforters dry cleaned and they did a wonderful job.

I Had a gown that needed to be altered and Sandy's did a fabulous job along with dress clothes for my nephews wedding. Outstanding service and pricing. I would recommend over Saratoga Dry Cleaners. Good prices and good customer service, read more

Sandy's has great prices, services with a smile, they're fast and do a great job. Today when I showed up to pick up my dry cleaning I realized I had left my wallet at home. I was going to leave my shirts and then come blab know with my wallet to pay/pick up those that were ready. The guy said, "No problem, just pay for them when you pick up this stuff." Wow! I've only been going there six weeks and they did this for me! read more

This is by far the best cleaners in town. The prices is excellent and no one can beat them.

I only wished I found this place earlier and I would have saved a lot of money. Great service at great prices. I go on Saturdays and get an extra 20 percent off the entire bill. The end result is paying about half that I was at the big chain cleaners. Only drawback is they don't take credit cards (cash or check). But that is how they keep the prices low. read more

Just exactly what I was looking for! The best prices in the DC area and very quick service. The alterations have been great too. The only downside is that they only accept cash, but otherwise a great and popular business. Wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

I'm pretty satisfied with this place. Their deal on Saturdays is worth the trip. I'm definitely a return customer.

Great price and fast service. Me and my family have been using them for a few years and have nothing but positive things to say

They may have cheap prices, but you get what you pay for. I got back pants with the hook messed up. I got back a linen jacket that was sloppily pressed. They couldn't get a blouse cleaned - I took it to a cleaners out of town while visiting friends and it was properly cleaned. The final straw was when they ruined a pair of Liz Clairborn pants - large stains with cleaning fluid which they insisted was caused by me putting water on it. The pants never got near water when they were in my possession; not to mention it is odd for water to be splotched on 1 leg in the front and in the derriere area. If they do this with "sturdy" clothes, imagine what they'll do to delicates... read more
