Everett Theater is a restored moviehouse with beautiful finishes, comfortable seats, great viewlines, and good acoustics. They also have large screen TVs flanking the stage, so you can still see well even if your seat is less than ideal. We've visited for a few comedy shows and noticed recently that the seating is more filled owing to good acts coming through. The coming attractions include a wide range of artists including pop and jazz artists, tribute bands, actual touring artists, and even the Seahawks Championship Game (last game before Superbowl, with the expectation that they'll do SB as well). I haven't figured a best parking location: we've found free street parking (weekend after-hour) relatively close by, but spots are not widely available. They run a set of snack counters and separate bars: prices a little high consistent with similar venues, with decent local beer can selections and poured mixers, and the popcorn was tasty. (other food selections available). The neighborhood is clean and bright: it looks like they take effort to reduce undesirables in the area. (Yelp has checked 'food' and 'ambience': I cannot uncheck these, although ambiance is fine. We purchased tickets back in February to see a Beatles tribute band tonight at 7:30 pm May 6, 2026. I called the venue this morning to check on when they open the doors and spoke with John. He informed me that the band canceled months ago, however I was never notified nor was it on their website. John was very matter of fact and never apologized for failing to contact concert goers. He never offered a refund and I had to ask John how do I get my money back and he said you will need to call your bank to get a refund. I can't imagine how many concert goers will show up tonight and be very upset that the doors are locked and the venue is closed for the night. We are longtime supporters of this venue and have been attending their concerts for years. Take caution this is not the theater it use to be now that it is under new management! Seems to me that the "new" Everett Theater is keeping our money when bands are canceling their performance dates rather than sending money back to concert goers. Very dishonest way to run a business. We will no longer attend this venue! Poor customer service. read more

We came here for a comedy show and it was a great venue. The central downtown location set us up for a classic vibe. Upon entry, you could feel the history as this place has been around, but in a good way. The place is in good shape and the host of the show even mentioned that it is currently for sale. Could be a good deal for someone! Inside the auditorium, there is a balcony level, which is where we sat. The seats are steep so you can still see and they had two large screens on either side of the stage in case you couldn't see the detail from where you were sitting. I visited this place for the first time to go and see a cover band and I am excited to go back in another month for another concert. The theater is beautiful with room for dancing near the stage. Concession lines are a little long but the people that work here are sweethearts who make the wait not feel so bad. Parking is plentiful and even though the seats aren't assigned, every seat is great. The ushers assisting and helping sell merchandise are so sweet and kind. They even allow you to bring yummy bbq from next door in with you to enjoy at your seats. My only complaint was that while we were there the old plumbing acted up and the restroom flooded. It was a little dangerous to walk around in the restroom and also near our seats as our neighbors behind us had spilled their drinks. I would suggest that you bring some flat shoes with you just in case this occurs again. Make sure you buy your tickets on the theater's website rather than using ticketsales.com or other scammers who charge triple the costs for the same show tickets. read more

Had dinner before the Lee oskar show and showed up when doors were supposed to open with another party and place was closed. Went to website and show was cancelled. Checked my mail and junk and I found nothing. Sent email to the theater and I received no response so I showed up for the next comedy show. i went inside and a lady said they would open the window which never happened. i went back inside an hour later and they got the manager named curt. He raised his voice with me and declared I got an email. I kept my cool and finally got a refund. Went back with the other person that the same thing happened to and he was treated the same way. this one ended up with a confrontation on the sidewalk outside. A very charming and comfortable small community theatre in downtown Everett. You'd almost miss it if you weren't looking but I've been here a few times to watch the silent films they put on. They do a really good job with making it easy to get a ticket (and I do appreciate the veteran's discount they offer). I haven't been here for any other events, just the films. Excellent selections of films and great choices with the organist they bring in. You can really tell they put in thought and effort! The concession stand could use some extra help; the first time I went there was quite the backlog for popcorn, and it didn't seem all that well organized to get in the queue and do what you needed to. Some just simply left and went into the theatre because the movie had started and they were still just waiting! While a nitpick thing to write a review about, the concessions experience is an area of opportunity for improvement. It'd also be really nice if they opened up the balcony. The main floor doesn't always offer the best viewing experience, and especially if you're under the balcony, the organ doesn't speak well that far back/under. Given how sound works (it rises), it'd be a much better experience to be front-and-center, and up. The organ wouldn't sound as muffled... and would give a little more spacing options between groups of people. Overall a great experience though and look forward to going again soon. read more

They have several amazing tribute bands, comedians, etc. The theater is a gorgeous old building and every seat is good. When bands come, guests come up and dance by the stage. We arrived early for the "Lee Oskar and Friends" Concert on Friday, June 13, 2025 only to find the "Historic Everett Theatre" dark and the doors locked. We received no prior notice or communication by any means of the cancellation of this concert. There was no sign or notice at the box office window or on the theatre doors displaying notice that the concert had been cancelled. While standing outside the locked theatre doors we called and left a voice mail on the "Historic Everett Theatre" Box Office telephone contact number. We then called again as well as e-mailed the "Historic Everett Theatre" that night and several times afterwards. To date, June 24, 2025 they have not replied to either our mobile phone or by an e-mail. We have asked again and again for a response as well as an explanation of this really poor customer service. At first we were just annoyed that this music venue would waste our time, our gas as well as treat paying customers so callously. Now, we are angry as well as disgusted!! The "Historic Everett Theatre" refuses to provide a response explaining why we were not notified of the concert cancellation and the reason for the cancellation! Best place for ghost hunting if your just starting out. It's a beautiful place and highly recommend going there!!

I've been here to see various things, a few times. I love that it's easy to access and has a variety of free street parking nearby. There are also a ton of bars and restaurants within walking distance to pre or post funk at. I also recently found a coupon in the entertainment book and was excited to be able to save some money. The things that show here are very eclectic with something for everyone if you pay attention to what's coming. This is a small theater with a nice upstairs balcony area. They also have concessions and bathrooms on the upper level. It's a very intimate place to see a show as you can truly interact with whoever is on stage. It's a little run down but I guess that is part of being historic. I enjoyed seeing Gallagher the most here. I am looking forward to some upcoming free movies. I didn't love the late night catechism I just saw. read more

I love the affordability and events put on here. Only tip is the bathroom situation for young children is a bit awkward (2nd floor no room for diaper changes). We have been to 4 concerts at The Histric Everett Theater and each has been GREAT. The venue is so small there isn't a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are good. Last night the midrange base started to high but the got it dialed in and the BeeGees were fantastic. Would recommend it and dont worry about the seat as they are all good. read more

This was my second time attending the Manhattan Short Film Festival at the Everett Theater in historic Middletown. This time around, the audience size doubled--pretty much a full house. Everything from the ceiling, to the wall decor, to the old fashioned ticket booth gives this place so much character and makes the festival such a memorable. experience. There was a bit of a delay getting started but we attributed that to the size of the audience being double what it was last year. The hostess notified us that guests were still arriving and they were trying to have everyone seated before beginning. There was beer being sold, as well mini wine bottles (nothing fancy) and other non-alcoholic refreshments +!movie popcorn of course. Everything was so cheap compared to what we are used to paying at our local modern theaters. Not sure if the alcohol is sold regularly or if this was a special add-on for the festival--but that's definitely something to look forward to. The films this year were amazing and I expected nothing less. At the end you get a ballot and have to vote for favorite movie and best actor. Every year it's the hardest decision to make! We thought it was hilarious that we were asked by the theater hostess to return the writing utensils we received with our ballots. May the most deserving film/ actor win. Looking forward to visiting the theater again next year! read more

The worst theater for customer service. They cancelled a show and called it a postponement. No refunds or notice were given. The doors were dark w no notice of the change. The website did not indicate a change. The merchants in the area were unaware. The manger Chris was a belligerent jerk when he returned my call. It is not ok to simply delay a show; a vendor must cancel and refund tickets. While there may be laws about internet purchases this Chris individual w whom I spoke was not customer focused and did not care one bit about my personal loss. I will not ever visit this venue nor do I recommend others do so. The worst rating possible. read more

$3 popcorn. You read that correctly. I went here for an event, and the popcorn was actually free! Have you ever been to an event where food is free and the servers look like they're holding a grudge?.... You won't see that here! During the event, the staff were attentive and jovial to everyone. There wasn't any glancing or nodding at the tip jar like they were owed something for breathing, and you know what? Guests tipped well! The popcorn is crisp, light and fresh. They must have been popping around the clock, UNLIKE modern theaters! Everything is conveniently located and the seating is spacious and plentiful, considering that the establishment is fairly small. I could FEEL the history. This theatre burned down in 1923 and rebuilt later that year. It has received some remodeling, but there is a vibe which would be great for a period piece, or horror film (Are you reading this, American Horror Stories writers?!?!). We just hit the Everett Theater for a showing of Gone With the Wind we picked up as a Groupon. What a sweet old theater! It's 110 years old and run by volunteers. The interior is original with all the wonderful architectural details and old school red velvet seats. They have both balcony and floor seats and run plays, concerts and movies. I have just joined the, unpaid, volunteer, board of directors for the theatre but have gone here for years and so please understand I submit my review with this in mind. I have always felt this way about the theatre and should have done this years ago!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is so beautiful. Seems to be hidden in Everett and you need to find it right away! We just watched two silent movies accompanied by live organ music on stage where you can see and hear the organist play!!! Both movies were early Buster Keaton. The General which is a loose script on a true Civil War event and Steamboat Bill Jr. no doubt from whence Steamboat Willie was born (Mickey Mouse!). They were both great! There were over 100 people attendance and we all were laughing and cheering! There is a concession with popcorn, etc. When there are other events, there is often beer and wine available. There are often local talent Hootenannys, vintage movies and bands. Recently 'It's a Wonderful Life' was shown along with a visit by ZuZu ('...an angel just got their wings!') herself! We got to see the movie on the big screen. She had asked how many had seen it like that and I think there was only one person. They hope to do this again next year for Christmas! Call and tell them to do this!!! Gone with the Wind was recently shown as well as Goonies to celebrate the recent 25th anniversary. Some local first run movies have been presented here also. The theater is available for rent for special events as well. There are a number of pictures of the theater in the lobbies from the past when those such as Nat Cole (wasn't King yet in 1937!) played the theater. Teddy Roosevelt had even been there! The staff and volunteers are great and helpful. I've seen the negative review below and have no idea what happened at that time. I find it odd at the least. I've been to a lot of concerts in my time but never have I paid this much for a ticket sitting in the second row just steps away from the band and not be able to see the band . There was no security and the crowd rushed the stage and those of us in the first two rows couldn't see anything but the drunken show . They over served a large group at this venue and allowed them to run all over the place and ruin everyone else's experience.we called and expressed our disappointment for all that did . Whoever answered the phone laughed at us and said haven't you ever been to a concert? We told him that they over served ( and yes we drink ) and that they had no crowd control and he said "no we didn't there is no way .The line was way too long for that . " my daughter and I got a beer and it took five minutes. We traveled over an hour to see this band . We won't ever go back ! read more

I've only been to this theatre once. It is historic, right downtown in Everett. I did enjoy the show. As far as the theatre itself....The lobby area is very nice, but small so if you have to wait for the doors to open before a show, it can get a bit crowded. The seats in the theatre are comfortable. However, the interior of the actual theatre is in need of some updates. The tickets are never overpriced though, and it's in a great location. When walking into the Historic Everett Theater, it's like taking a step back in time, you can just imagine Al Jolson singing on stage in the early 1900s. It is such a wonderful place where they do plays, musicals and show movies. MIke is the Director and takes such care to make sure everything is running very smoothly. Bob the caretaker keeps everything looking clean and in order. It's a great place to take a date or your family. I also love that they are showing old Mystery movies on Thursday nights. I've now attended concerts at the theatre, twice for the same band (Steam Powered Giraffe). The first time was fine, but the second time a year later was a mess! Staff were very rude, they denied photos with the band for some people but not others, they moved autographs from the manageable upstairs space into the lobby which made it difficult for people to get out of the building. They said that the band had decided on this, but the band had to be ushered downstairs after heading upstairs for autographs and didn't seem to know that they were supposed to be downstairs. Unlike past years, the theatre decided to enforce seating assignments, so fans were divided from their family and friends if they did not buy their tickets together online. In the past, fans were able to just sit where ever and there din't seem to be any hassle. During autographs, a drunk man was rude to the band and then proceeded to harass myself and my friend (20 and 17, respectively). We finally got him to leave after agreeing to autograph his newspaper (we were dressed up elaborately so I guess that's why he wanted autographs). I emailed the theatre with these complaints, expecting that they were just misguided and/or unaware of the problems. I received a very rude email in which the manager (Curtis Shriner) had copy pasted my email and written in between the sentences. Once I deciphered it, I read that he denied that his staff were rude, blamed the placement of the autograph line and the denial of photos on the band. He said that after the band had been harassed by the drunk man, he escorted him out. This is a flat out lie because the man harassed me and my friend for nearly ten minutes until he finally left after some woman approached him. He told me that he would not be making any changes with how he organized this event in the future and that if me and my friends had any problems, we shouldn't return. And we won't. Completely disgusted with the behaviour of the staff of the Historic Everett Theatre and I highly urge everyone to discontinue attendance to any of their events. I've often enjoyed this theater for movies or shows, but my experience on Saturday left me feeling very negative about this venue, namely the person running things. I purchased movie tickets through the local newspaper's two-for-one offering. The instructions were to arrive when the box office opened (30 minutes before the show). We did this and came in to find seats. The smell of popcorn filled the air and we were excited for the show. Then a manager (?) comes up and says because someone gave out the wrong time for the show, they were delaying the start by 30 minutes. This meant we had a hour wait. We'd already shopped and eaten lunch in Everett, so what were we to do? We also had other plans for later in the day that would be delayed by this. His attitude about this was very poor. He did not offer anything but shrugged shoulders, and a "who cares" attitude. He grudgingly and rudely refunded our money. This could have been handled with a lot more tact and warmth, such as offering the people who arrived at the correct time a free bag of popcorn or something. I try to support local businesses, but won't be a supporter of this theater again. read more

This review is based on personal dance recital/performance experience at the Historic Everett Theatre. Although I am certain the venue is appropriate for various purposes, it should NOT be used for dance performances/recitals. The stage has massive screw-heads that protrude, splinters, gaps, and is not safe for dance use. Additionally the stage area is small in comparison to quality venues. Dressing rooms are down steep, concrete stairs, making quick costume changes awkward. Additionally it is not ADA. Notices are displayed, warning against drinking the water. Overall the dressing areas are filthy, smell of mildew, and cold. Booking is disorganized (facility was double-booked, requiring changes in dates/times). Staff failed to have the venue stage ready for rehearsal, leaving a gaping drop into the orchestra pit. That being stated it is important to mention that the gentleman was personable, friendly, entertaining, and genuinely nice! Seating chart failed to reflect actual seating availability. While I appreciate the historic reflection, the quaint decor, I have definitely experienced much better with regard to dance venues. read more

The New Everett Theatre, the new management team at historic Everett Theatre, has really done Everett a service with a roster of plays that challenge the mind. The latest production "The Exonerated" was at once powerful and painful, but sometimes that's what good theater is about. The script was phenomenal. You left the theater wanting to do something good, to make a change. And it turned out, you could. The actors from the play collected donations, money that will go to the cause of fighting for people wrongly convicted of crimes. Theater with a conscious that brings you instant gratification, you gotta love that. read more
