The Historic Theater is a great venue!! Parking is free and the tickets are reasonably priced. They have several amazing tribute bands, comedians, etc. The theater is a gorgeous old building and every seat is good. When bands come, guests come up and dance by the stage. Drinks and snacks are sold upstairs.

    Manhattan Short Film Festival 2017

This was my second time attending the Manhattan Short Film Festival at the Everett Theater in historic Middletown. This time around, the audience size doubled--pretty much a full house. Everything from the ceiling, to the wall decor, to the old fashioned ticket booth gives this place so much character and makes the festival such a memorable. experience. There was a bit of a delay getting started but we attributed that to the size of the audience being double what it was last year. The hostess notified us that guests were still arriving and they were trying to have everyone seated before beginning. There was beer being sold, as well mini wine bottles (nothing fancy) and other non-alcoholic refreshments +!movie popcorn of course. Everything was so cheap compared to what we are used to paying at our local modern theaters. Not sure if the alcohol is sold regularly or if this was a special add-on for the festival--but that's definitely something to look forward to. The films this year were amazing and I expected nothing less. At the end you get a ballot and have to vote for favorite movie and best actor. Every year it's the hardest decision to make! We thought it was hilarious that we were asked by the theater hostess to return the writing utensils we received with our ballots. May the most deserving film/ actor win. Looking forward to visiting the theater again next year!

I never really knew about this bar until now!…read more Cheap drinks, good bar food, billiards and an outside patio area with cornhole! It's pretty well known around the area and honestly, for 2 meals and 2 drinks was $44 even that I had spent. I LOVED their "build your own sampler" and you choose 4 from their list. I got the chicken gizzards, fried pickles, jojo's and mini tacos! Pretty good and pretty filling! Good variety too, including oysters and chips and seafood, along with chicken sandwiches and burgers. You order at the counter and they make the drinks right there and give you a number. Not a bad place to hang, and the staff, at least the ladies we interacted with are really nice!

I've never encountered a bartender who seemed less interested in providing good service. From the…read moremoment we got to the bar, she was rude, dismissive, and acted as though customers were an inconvenience. My daughter, whom had already purchased a mixed drink, went up for me and asked what beer she had on tap for a pitcher and she hollers "IDK go look" and waves my daughter away, despite the bar not being particularly busy, any simple requests were met with eye rolls, attitude and aggressive gestures. What should have been an enjoyable night as my fiancé and I were visiting from the east coast with about 15 of my daughter and her gfs (who lives there and frequented this bar prior) closest friends, turned into a pitiful mess of an experience thanks to her immensely unprofessional behavior. Hospitality requires basic courtesy, and conflicts require resolution unfortunately that was completely absent. Along with deescalation skills provided by some lady claiming to be interim manager. After saying several times we wanted to resolve the conflict it was clear they don't know what that means. If customer service matters to you, I would think twice before returning while this bartender is behind the bar because she'll apologize to everyone BUT the person she was rude to. Forget a rotten tomato, I've gotten better customer service from a parking meter.

The lighting in the restaurant is ambient/dark. The prices weren't too bad! I ordered the steak tartare, bone marrow and beef wellington which was pretty good! Service was excellent! The vibe is good, kind of like an underground restaurant would be back in the day. Service was very good; very attentive. The food is really overpriced however for what you get. The HH menu is good and that seems to be the better deal vs. dinner. Drinks were OK but they really need more tap beers than just pouring from a can. That's really weak for such a pricey place. Very disappointing. I had the chicken remoulade which was very overpriced for the quantity of food. It consisted of a single "smallish" chicken thigh with cauliflower and sauce. It was tasty but not at all filling. It needed more sauce as well. The ladies had a couple salads and yes they were overpriced for what you got. If you go, just stick with the HH menu and you won't be disappointed. I will not come back simply because it's just way too expensive and I'd rather get a better deal on a great dinner than this place.
